Great Shoe!
Purchased these about 9 months ago. I have had Converse since I was a little kid and these are by far the best. Clean the rubber easily and the style is timeless...Also, mine don't look like they have been worn at all and I wear through shoes fast! These are worth the money for sure! A little tight if you have wide feet...

Bummed!
I love this shoe and ordered it 1/2 size larger since my previous pair were too narrow. Alas, the larger size is too NARROW. Have to return and only available in a medium width.

Great shoe- sizing for women is off -
I love the look of this shoe. It's quite comfortable, although it does lack arch support. It's also feels a bit narrow, but I have wide feet. I usually wear a women's size 6.5, so I ordered a women's 6.5/men's 5. It was waaay too big- almost a full size too big. I exchanged for a women's 6/men's 4.5. Perfect! I can't rave enough about Zappos fabulous service, too. This was a gift, so I had to call customer service to take care of the return- the rep who helped me was always friendly and nice, never said "no", and my return was taken care of very quickly. I also love that I was in touch with a customer service rep immediately- no wait time. Returns couldn't be simpler, and I received my new shoes (free overnight shipping) before I even had a chance to send my old ones back. Zappos is amazing- I've shopped with them before, but I'm continually impressed by their service. I don't know how they do it!

Very Impressed -
I can't possibly fathom how someone can claim these shoes aren't comfortable. As a guy coming from a *very* large collection of Converse shoes (everything from slip-ons to the typical "Chuck"), I can safely say that these are by far the most comfortable Converse product I've ever put on my feet. They run about a 1/2 size too big (at least with my feet they did) so I'd suggest if you're in between sizes go down a half size to be safe. Other than that, I'm *highly* impressed with not only the shoe's comfort, but also its aesthetic capabilities and durability. It even feels nice to the touch! A+ in my books.

Great Look...Not comfortable -
The sizing is 1/2 size larger than normal and they are not very comfortable. I added soles to them and they still don't feel great.

Old School & looking cool -
These JP's are just what I wanted & a lot more. I wasn't sure what size to order.
(My feet are kind of in between 9 & 9-1/2) I take an 8-1/2 in Chucks. I have purchased both size 9 & 9-1/2 in the regular JP's (USA & overseas manufactured) and the heel is loose in 9 1/2 and the 9's are a little bit snug.
So basically I've been wearing the 9's with thinner sport socks that have no extra padding, and that works out just fine. I went with a size 9 on these John Varvatos (and another style) and they both fit perfect.
The thing that sold me the most was the way that these shoes have the exact look of the (BF Goodrich) originals with the blue rubber on the side the same color as the shoe. I felt like I was in a time machine when I put them on. Great feeling from a great style shoe.

Very cool shoes. There are many differing viewpoints on sizing on here. I mistakenly decided to go a half size smaller like I normally do with Chucks. DO NOT DO THIS! These are true to size and I even called Converse to confirm. They are snug in the toe and ordering them smaller only makes it worse. Very cool retro look

The Best yet -
John Varvatos fit true to your regular street shoe size, unlike most Converse where you need to heed the advice of at least 1/2 size smaller. JV also is the most comfortable of all the converse I've tried and I have 8 pairs. This is a wonderful shoe. I bought the red, but will be ordering the black real soon and then maybe the Green Rolex leather, if they go on sale. I put the wide Red Shoe laces in and they look great!!!!!!!!!!

I was a fan of the old Jack Purcell’s for years, but the original Converse version was not as nice as this updated version--the quality of construction and fabric are much better.

Great Shoe - Good Fit Advice -
For various brands of shoes, I am a perfect size US 12D, having bought dozens of dress shoes, athletic shoes, loafers over the years, and never once getting a poor fit from 12D. I, very nervously, bought this shoe in size 11.5, and it is a perfect fit!

Cool, vintage shoe. Went up a size because the area around the toes was tight. Says to go 1/2 size down, too tight. Kind of narrow, but still a great shoe.

I got a lot of compliments on this shoe. Funky old school but modern.
Definitely order one half size down from normal. Shoe is also a little narrow...perfect sockless.

Nostalgia -
These take me back 30 yrs to when I wore these in high school. They breathe better than more modern athletic shoes but lack arch support. I ordered 3 different colors because of the nostalgia factor and really love them.

Narrow but too cool to return...
I ordered these in blue and cream and they are pretty cool. They are a little narrower at the toe than I would like but I can live with that because they look good and I don't plan on wearing them all day.

Ok, but pricey for lack of comfort.
Great shoe, great idea on the designer updating, but no arch support whatsoever and very little padding (if any) between the sole and the fabric lining the top. Also, the top heel/lower achilles area is not very well sewn together with no padding either, which can make for an uncomfortable driving/walking shoe. Other than that it's ok.

This is how the original Jack Purcell’s looked back in the 1960's when they were made by B.F. Goodrich! Converse finally got it right.
