I bought my last pair of Vasques about 15 years ago. They served me well, but age brings spreading feet and a new pair was called for. The shoe size appears correct for my foot size. Preliminary results indicate a comfortable fit with no pinch points. I wore them for about 2 hours around the house before committing to keep them. I then wore them for 22 hours straight on a trip to Europe with no discomfort. Next up, a mountain adventure!

I bought these for my husband b/c he had a pair from this brand before and loved them. He wears a size 13 and a lot of shoes are too narrow for him. This shoe in a 13 normal width fits him great. Very true to size and he says VERY comfortable! They look great too!

I was looking for a good waterproof boot for backpacking. As far as I’m concerned, a waterproof "membrane" inside the liner is pointless, since it allows the majority of the boot to get saturated with heavy water and mud. This narrowed my selection to boots that have waterproof uppers. I ordered this boot and the North Face Jannu GTX. I immediately ruled out the North Face boot upon arrival because the tongue was too short - when I tied it tightly, the knot would slip over the top of the tongue, then up against my shin. So there was that ridiculous flaw, plus the fact that the boot was way too roomy. Back to the Vasque. This boot is well constructed, with clean lines and tight seams, excellent ankle support and a rigid sole. These boots certainly aren’t as cozy soft as a pair of Keens, but when I have an extra 50 lbs on my back, I appreciate the support. The rubber toecap will help this boot last a while. I can’t really comment on the insoles because I replaced them with custom orthotics, as I do with all shoes. It’s worth noting that this boot has a roomy toebox.

The shoe quality is good, but it is very slippery and I mean very slippery on wet conditions. Other people have raised the same issue and there have been few occasions that I almost fell head first. Second problem I have had with them is that I have had two blue toenails. I wear thick hiking socks and tie my shoe laces tight not to have foot movement but still. There are much better shoes out there for the same price.

So far so good! I put them on and they were very comfortable out of the box. They have broken in and are still very comfortable. I wore them out in the pouring down rain at night on a hike about 2 miles round trip and my feet were the only dry part of my body. Oh yeah and it was right after Christmas so it was cold and my feet were still warm. So far so good. JD

I bought these shoes for a New Years trip to London. We expect to do a lot of walking in rainy British weather and to break them in, I've been wearing them around our upstate New York winter. They are comfortable, warm, and appear to be winter-proof. I would recommend this shoe highly.

This boot is worth every penny it costs. I have been buying this boot for 3 years and am very impressed with the quality and comfort. The ankle support allows me to resume hiking and walking without the normal pain I suffered from with other boots/shoes.

The Cadillac of Hiking Boots -
I bought these while hiking in Acadia National Park (hence 'Cadillac' word play). I had a pair of Garmonts that I liked before, and was going to stick with that brand until the sales person had me try these on. These are far more comfortable. I tend to need wider shoes, I got these in a medium width and they are perfect. Perfect build. Lightweight. Breath. As long as they make these I will buy them as needed, which I think will not be too frequently!

Worth resoling -
Bar none, these are the best boots I've worn in the past 30 years. They fit right out of the box, they've never leaked, and they've never given me blisters. They breathe like no other boot I've ever worn. When I wore out the soles (after eighteen hard months), I had them resoled (Resole America, and I don't work there or know anyone there either, in case you're wondering) and they're like new. I will definitely buy another pair. Maybe two.

I think these are the best boots I've purchased for hiking. I have Flat feet both ankles that have been broken which left me with larger than normal size ankles. These Boots fit great out of the Box and gave outstanding stability to my ankles. I am not a long distance hiker by any means, but these boots have allowed me 10 mile days at 6'1" 265 lbs. with 40 pound pack. I’m Sold on these Boots.

Great boots -
It is hard for me to find just the right boot. These were just what I wanted. I bought two other pair before trying these. They were a little stiff out of the box but after a week of twelve hour days in them they are well broke in. I had no blisters or hot spots ever. Very comfortable and so light. I will be buying these whenever my current pair fall apart.

I am a very discriminating boot buyer who recently did a 21 mile backpack trip in three days and two nights with a 40 pound pack while wearing a "out of the box" pair of Vasque Wasatch GTX's and am very happy to say that I would highly recommend them. Tough, excellent support and no blisters in some very rugged country. Thank you Vasque!

Great Boot -
I ordered these boots in a size larger than I normally wear and they fit so nice when I tried them on. I wore them to work the next day for 12 hours and they felt very nice on my feet. Nice and solid footing. I'm very happy with these boots and will buy them again when I wear these out.

Vasque Quality/comfort Problems -
I am about 6'1'' and 200 lbs. First Boots were defective. Felt comfortable initially but after wearing them they hurt top of my foot. Left one smaller than right one volume wise with a full 1/4" less leather over the front of the shoe and the tongue was twisted up with bad sowing. Exchanged the shoes and then the second pair did not have the same problems, but different problems. They had a very minor leak under the front toes and killed my arch in one shoe after about 30 minutes of walking because the one shoe was not made properly and forced the arch to hang out outside of the sole.
As an added note, bought these at Jesse browns, not Zappos. They do not seem to want to take care of me, so I am looking for boots at Zappos.
Poor quality control and would not recommend.

Worth Every Penny -
A great hiking boot! I said "boot" because just like all boots, you need to break them in. I did a four mile fire fighter pack test with these to break them in and now they are great! The grip, sturdiness, and support for you feet is awesome. The only thing I would caution anyone on is the boot size. I wear a size 12 in Reebok shoes and the boot is a half size smaller (11 1/2). I would recommend any Vasque product.

I wore these boots right out of the box on a 20 mile hike on steep Appalachian mountain trails mostly in the rain. My feet were comfortable and dry the whole trip.

Envy of the mountain goats...
I purchased the Vasque Wasatch GTX boots a month before a trip to Glacier National Park in July 2006. I wore them several times before the trip but did not give them the full break-in I thought they should have. It did not matter because the boots performed wonderfully for over 30 miles of rocky up and down hiking with heavy pack and day pack. My feet usually blister no matter what I do, but I did not have one hot spot. I will buy Vasque again, particularly from Zappos!

They need a little breaking in if you are not used to a padded high top, good support, comfortable after break-in!

4 wheel drive for your feet -
I've never owned a pair of high quality boots like these since it was nearly impossible to find wide sizes at the local stores. I used to own some Rockports in a regular width but did not wear them much because of comfort issues (not fitting my wider foot). I also tried some Dunhams in 4E width but that was too wide. These Vasque's fit perfectly. There was initially a little pressure on the instep but a change in lacing techniques fixed the problem while still holding the heel firmly in place.
I have taken these on several day hikes and found them very comfortable and able to take whatever conditions and terrain are thrown at them. The waterproofing is awesome and I like the way they look too.
Zappos service was excellent.

Excellent boots. Quality of materials is very good and as described. The boot has a lot of support and is really comfortable. There are some very small details about the styling of the boot that I would change, but 1) they are unimportant 2) these are not meant to make me pretty. :-) I looked a long time at boots before deciding on this pair. The boot is a little pricey but is in line with other boots of that quality. Price at Zappos (when you consider no tax and free shipping) was actually cheaper than other shops (I know because I spent hours trying to find a cheaper price on eBay, other online shoe stores, local retailers, etc.). Bought 2 pair at the time (this pair and another from Garmont). Returned the other set because they were uncomfortable. Shipping was fast (and free). My return was handled without any problems. I have no regrets about the boots or Zappos.
