Fine pair of shoes -
Great shoes, I wear a 10.5 normal width. I ordered the 10.5 and they were too long, I received the size 10 and they fit great. I ordered on Saturday and received the shoes Monday evening, very impressive.
My second pair was ordered on Monday (when I realized the 10.5 was too large), the size 10 pair arrived Tuesday night, wow.
My size 10 pair had a slight defect in that the hole that was punched out for one of the lace holes had imbedded itself under the leather near the lace hole, I had to cut a tiny slit on the underside, near the lace hole and pull out the piece of hole that had been punched out. No big deal, it was just a weird bubble in the leather until it was removed from underneath.
Very comfortable shoes, they started "breaking in" after the first hour.

Good shoe for EEE size -
Traditionally, I have been a true 10.5 EEE. And these shoes are a perfect match for me. They are a bit rigid when new, but break in somewhat. The leather is the shiny style. So if you do not like the very polished look, do not buy.

These shoes are very comfortable. Just the right style for the look I wanted. Hard to find large sizes that are also narrow, and Johnston & Murphy always has the size and style I need.

I needed a pair of dress shoes and have always liked Johnston & Murphy shoes. I like their style, comfort, and durability. When I received my shoes, they looked better than I thought they would. When I tried them on, they felt broken in as if I'd had them forever. I love them. When it came time to purchase my shoes, it was automatic that I would go straight to Zappos and order with total confidence. I knew that I might be able to buy them for less somewhere, but when it came to service and dependability, price was secondary. Thanks Zappos!

This shoe has a very clean look. I ordered a 9.5 which I thought felt more like a 10, but it still fits, so I'm keeping it. I'm very happy with these.

Excellent shoe, but you need to test drive!
When I lace up, the leather is as close together as it will go but the shoe is just barely snug -- and loosens slightly during the day. I had a size 9.5 pair for 10 years but needed replacement for a little extra width. I wore them around the house a little and they felt fine. Wearing them all day - the looseness is more evident.

High quality and classic -
I normally wear 15 4E, and this 3E shoe has plenty of width. The heel is bowed out and doesn't actually meet my heel yet, but hopefully it will as I wear it. Construction is flawless and quality is legendary.

Dress shoes -
I needed dress shoes for an event on a Saturday. My local department store didn't have a width narrower than D. I got onto Zappos one evening and voila! Two pair of the shoes were on my doorstep the next morning. I normally wear a B width, but ordered both B & C because a former review said that the B felt narrow than normal. I did end up keeping the C width pair.

Good looking shoe...but runs narrow -
This is a very classy looking dress shoe. It would be a perfect shoe if it were as comfortable as it is good looking. Bought these 1 year ago for my dear hubby...and unfortunately they have been sitting in the box much more than he has worn them. He has a medium width foot...but he complains that they are just too narrow. Still kept them in case he had an occasion he just had to have a black dress shoe.

Cuts into ankle -
Good fit, width and length. Only problem is that the sides are high enough to start rubbing and eventually cutting into the bottom of the outside ankle.

Squeaky lining -
These shoes feel as good as a leather-soled dress shoe can feel. The arch support is excellent. They look good too, though the leather is a bit shinier and more plastic-like than more expensive shoes. I believe it is corrected-grain as opposed to full-grain leather. The soles are nice, but they do wear down quickly as most leather soles will do. The major problem with these shoes for me is the squeaky noise my socks make against the shoe lining. Perhaps that is something that will fade over time.

My best Christmas gift -
I bought these shoes for my brother who is an educator and spends a lot of time on his feet and doesn’t have the money for great shoes.
I own 4 or 5 pairs of Johnson& Murphy’s some of which I’ve had for 10 or more years.
They truly are fantastic.

I have these two pairs of this style shoe and ordered another. These shoes are not the same as previous pairs owned. They are the same size, but fit differently and are longer. I could not tell until I actually wore them for the day they just were not as comfortable and too big. Would try to return or exchange if I could.

Looks better than it feels -
Great looking shoe for wearing with a suit, but on my feet the sidewall hits me in the ankle somewhat. I put orthotics in them and that lifted me up enough that my ankle bone cleared the shoe. Very pleased with shipping and the price was fair.

You are never surprised when purchasing a shoe from this manufacturer. The quality is always good and the fit is always good (if you order the right size). I have been wearing their shoes for over twenty years - in fact I have had them refurbished at the factory. Taken care of, these shoes last three or four times longer than others.

Johnston and Murphy Melton Cap Toe -
J&M cap toes were my first dress shoes ever about 8 years ago, and this is my second pair. I've resoled the originals so many times I lost count, and they still feel like slippers. Very comfortable. So far, the new pair is breaking in nicely. However, they run really small and narrow--I usually wear a size 10 Nike and have a narrow foot, but I wear a J&M 7 1/2 EEE! They fit like a glove. I have no idea why. Try on a pair before you buy.

A good looking shoe. It does not fit my foot too well. Seems to have little support, particularly in the arch. I plan to try to improve this with an orthotic.
