Great boot -
I bought the fugitive to replace my Danner 453s which I had 2 years or so. This boot fit a little narrow at first, but within an hour or two, shaped to my foot quite nicely. I love the feel of this boot. Holds my foot in place through the roughest terrain. With the Danner's, the toe box is a little wide so you can fit thicker socks and still not be cramped. In the summer mine felt a tad sloppy on my feet. Highly recommend the fugitive, but if you want to spend a little less money, go with the 453s.

Great boot, but not for wide feet -
I have a wide foot. These boots feel great upon putting them on, however after a short time walking around I realized the narrow width (yes, on the wide size) is too detrimental for holding onto these as a serious boot investment. I have to send mine back.

Asolo Fugitive GTX -
Great fit right out of the box. Comfort was very good, until after 5 or 6 hours of hiking. Then they got a little hard. Has great grip and is water resistant.

Very Happy With These Boots -
I had never been on a real hike before a couple of weeks ago, so I had never owned quality hiking boots. I bought these because they felt the best when I tried them on in a local store. I hiked the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge in Oklahoma for three days after breaking these in for 6 days, and did not have a single problem with my feet. The hike was a combination of dirt and pebble trails, boulders, climbing, etc., and the boots stayed comfortable. If I had to list one thing that could be improved, I might ask for a little more cushioning in the sole.

Good foot - Bad foot -
I just recently purchased this boot and have been trying to break them in. The right boot fits like a million dollars, the left boot hurts my instep under the hooks and laces. After about 20 miles, different weight socks, foot liners and heal inserts I'm still trying to figure out how to get very far from home with this boot. The arch support is great, the soles are a little stiff yet.

Great boot -
I love my pair, but the one complaint I have is that Asolo seems to run very narrow. Unless you have very skinny feet, I would recommend wide by default for comfort.

Looked around a long time before deciding on this one -
I looked long and hard in trying to find a waterproof hiking boot. My feet are wide so I am somewhat limited in selection at local stores. I bought some Vasque Summit GTX shoes last year and, even though I bought them in wide, I ended up with corns on both my pinkie toes. So, I was back in the stores and internet sites again looking this year. The Fugitives (wide version) are quite comfortable out of the box and seem to be well put together. However, I find them to be smaller than what I am used to -- I tried them on with thick socks and had to go up a half size. My only complaint is that I think they could be a bit better looking. The only color I could get in my size (and wide) was the "wool" color, which has a butt ugly red stripe down the back that make the boots look like bowling shoes. However, all things being equal, I'd rather have a boot that fits well and is ugly than one that looks nice (like the Summits) and gives me corns.

Remarkable Boots -
Comfortable right away, stayed comfortable, delight to walk in. However, a tip from another customer had me buy Spenco Polysorb insoles which may very well have helped.

A nice comfortable shoe -
I haven't worn this boot much yet but it is comfortable to wear without much breaking in. I did have to return it for a half-size larger shoe than I normally wear.

Short on longevity -
I loved this boot from the moment I put it on. I have narrow feet and a high instep and they fit perfect. I work in maintenance at a climate controlled plant (40*F) and my boots work great. They are very waterproof also. Only one defect...after 8 months the soles cracked right under the "Asolo" name and the rubber toe bumper is starting to come off. It would be a perfect boot if only it lasted a little longer

Great Boot With Fatal Flaw -
I love these boots, with one caveat. The fit and comfort are awesome, requiring no break-in at all. They look great and have good traction. The downside is the waterproofness, or lack thereof. My first pair leaked like a sieve, and I had to bring them back to the dealer for a replacement pair. My last trip was through some wet snow, lower than the top of the boot, and I arrived in camp with cold wet feet! Inexcusable. I looked closely at the stitching and saw two places on the long horizontal seam running from the toe to the heel that had separated, allowing water to gain access. I was very disappointed in a boot that is awesome in all other aspects, but comes up short in the most important one. I will be bringing these back and choosing another boot. Don't want to have another trip ruined by a defective boot. Buyer beware.

Great day hiking boots!
I bought mine two years ago. I have "problem" feet (arch and heel issues). These boots fit well from the start, very little break-in required, and they provided lots of support. I've put many miles on them and they are still holding up well. I use Green "Superfeet" insoles (available at Zappos) to help with my foot issues.

The best boot I ever owned-
I have had my GXTs for over 5 years. I am a land surveyor and hiking on uneven terrain is what I do for a living. The boots have lasted me this long, but the day has come to buy a new pair of boots. Hello Asolo Fugitive GTX...a new best friend!

Good for newbie hiker -
I went on a 35 mile hike on the App trail here in PA...lots of rocks, but no stubbed toes. Soft feet, but no blisters. These boots came through in a BIG way, and I would recommend them to any hiker.
One side note, I tend to have hot feet, and these kept my feet somewhat cool...being waterproof I was a little worried. Don't get me wrong, it was nice to take them off @ the end of the day!!!

Great Boots for Long & Short Hikes -
I recently bought these boots for a 3-Day short backpacking trip in Big Sur. I only wore them for a short walk once a few days before going so they were still new. On the trip they handled perfectly, my feet felt comfortable the whole time. After reading some of these reviews I also got the green Superfeet Insoles. I normally wear a 10 in most shoes, so I ordered a 10. They fit a little big, even with the larger green insoles, however, I'm not sure if I would get a size smaller. I stepped in water once above the ankle and my feet stayed dry. Over all I thought these boots were great, and have since been using them regularly for short day hikes and walks locally. The Zappos service is great, by the way.

Great quality at a great price.
I just recently purchased these Asolo Fugitive GTX hiking boots from Zappos.com. The boots are exactly as advertised, and described. The fit is true to size and width. The boot is very well constructed and is comfortable right out of the box. I have a slightly narrower than average foot and this boot fits all my contours excellently; so be careful if your foot is wider than normal. Shipping was quick and free. Communication was great throughout. The whole experience was very positive, and I will certainly buy from Zappos, and Asolo in the future; and recommend both.

Asolo Fugitive GTX -
Fit perfect right out of the box. Hadn't hiked for a while and screwed up my toes in my old boots (too small now). No time to shop, so picked these up on the way to a week of 70lb Sierra backpacking. The Fugitives were comfortable from mile one to the end! NO BLISTERS or Hot Spots! ALSO, gave excellent support on and off trail and scrambling to 5th class. I'm very impressed. Best hiking/backpacking boots I've owned, including Vasque, La Sportiva, Danner and Montrails. I got them a half size larger so I could wear Superfeet aftermarket insoles and thick hiking socks.

Asolo is the best -
This boot lives up to the high standard and quality Asolo is known for. My first pair, Latitudes, lasted 6 years of hiking and snow sports. These fugitives and my other Asolo trail shoes have lasted longer than any other shoe/boot I've owned. The Fugitive looks good and feels comfortable doing anything. Not as water resistant as listed in many magazines, but a great boot. I will never buy anything but Asolo. I live in these or Chacos.

At last!
I was looking for a quality hiking boot with lots of support, and lightweight, and these boots fit the bill perfectly, snug fit (get a half size larger if you wear thick or padded socks) great support, and if you stub your toe on a rock, tree etc. your toes dont slam the front of the boot and thats what I needed for backpacking. Style is great (personal opinion) love the green, great traction and virtually no break-in necessary, but put a few miles on em before your first 5+ mile hike, just to be sure.
I hiked during rain and feet never got wet although I didnt submerge more than half the boot. These boots really lock your feet in and make you feel confident hiking on all kinds of terrain, overall a great boot for hiking, and Zappos.com is the best experience Ive had with a website in a long time...thank you!

Solid Boot.
There seems to be a bit of confusion as to how these boots are sized, so if anyone considering purchasing these wears Adidas, an Adidas 11 fits my foot like a glove and I got the Asolos in a 10 and they fit perfect.

Great Boot -
This is a great boot. Very comfortable. I must say I was very surpirsed at how light they are. Fit runs a little on the small side, so you might want to go a half size larger than you normally would...especially if you will be hiking with thick or multiple socks.

Great boot!
Excellent composition, looks and feels great. Only drawback is that it takes more than a moment to cinch the fifth eyelet/lace. Otherwise great boot if you don't mind the $$$.

Hiking boots dont get any better than this.
Ive had all kinds of hikers and spent thousands on boots, but this is it the end all be all. Asolo nailed it. The fit is perfect. For hiking Ill only wear a fugitive, for street use Ill only wear a Dr. Martens 0939. Take it from a guy who has a huge boot collection. These are it
period. Buy them you wont be sorry. P.S. they are from Romania and run a hair on the narrow side so if in doubt they do come in a wide version.
Other shoes recommended by reviewer: the one and only dr marten 0939

 | | Yesterday, I spoke with a young man in your outdoor shoe customer service department, who advised me on the purchase of Merrell Chameleons, which evidently are now en route to me. He was very well-informed and provided excellent service. I regret I cannot recall his name, but I wanted you to know how helpful I found this individual and the service in general.
