Width and comfort of all Birkenstocks-
Birkenstocks are a different kind of shoe. I have diabetes and my podiatrist told me to by Birkenstocks, he even had samples in his waiting room. 1) If you never wore any Birkies before you start by wearing them 4 hours a day because of the arch. They will hurt your legs and feet for awhile until your body adjusts to them. The same with many athletic shoes. 2) The width will stretch to YOUR foot shape and size as you wear them. Then 3) Eureka, the perfect shoe and sandal. The whole of it is wearing and patience and you will never wear another kind again. You all have a good day and Zappos is the best.

Reply about sizing -
People who wear Birkenstocks know how the sizing runs. Narrow (filled-in footbed) fits Narrow to Medium feet. Medium (outline of a footbed) fits Medium to Wide.
Zappos has no control over a company that has been making shoes for over a century. If you don't know what size you wear, in a particular style... you have a couple of options. You can go to a local retailer, and find your correct size, then order from Zappos. Or you can use Zappos VERY GENEROUS free return postage policy to find your correct size. Because if Zappos started messing around with Birkenstock sizing, they would have THOUSANDS of unhappy customers... starting with me!
I own 3 dozen pairs of Birkenstocks, from sandals to clogs to lace-ups to hiking boots.
(I even had my "rennaisance fair boots" custom made around a Birkenstock footbed.) I think Zappos ROCKS!!! Keep up the great work.

Birkenstock doesn't make Women's narrows.
When Birkenstock sells a show for women and calls it a "narrow," it's really a men's narrow: B width. I wish Zappos wouldn't allow Birkenstock to represent these shoes as women's narrows, but I already wrote to them and they blew me off. Told me to write a review instead, so that's what I'm doing.

I ordered two pairs of shoes this morning (around 10am) and I receive an email that my order not only had been processed, but shipped and it is 2:40pm-on the SAME day. AND I was upgraded to priority status. I have to say WOW. This is the most impressive online service I have had from retail - ever. I bought my wedding shoes from you back in Feb, and I do recall how fabulous your customer service team was. I can't believe I have waited this long to purchase from Zappos again. You went above and beyond my expectations and I greatly appreciate that-esp. in these times. I order online a great deal because of my busy schedule and it is hard to go out and go shopping. This is the best treatment I have had by far- and I haven't received my shoes yet, but I know I'll get 'em much sooner than I thought. KEEP IT UP!!!
