Perfect walking sandal -
I was looking for the perfect walking sandal for my trip to Europe that would offer good support, yet look good. These are perfect. They have good arch support and after walking all day, I have no heel pain from plantar fasciitis that I often get from other sandals. Other reviewers complained that they had irritation at first from the area beneath the flower, but I did not experience this. The footbed felt a little stiff for the first few days, but now that they are worn in, they are very comfortable and I think they are better looking than a lot of other similar type sandals. Great choice!

OUCH!
I have the Mephisto Helen sandals and they are so comfy that I could go hiking in them. These have the same good arch support, but the straps rubbed the tops of my feet so badly after wearing them only once that I could have permanent scars. Too bad I can't return them and get another pair of Helens instead!

Too, Too cute!
This sandal is just way too cute and just perfect for the girl that wants comfort and style. It's an eye catcher and I've had lots of compliments when I wear it out. It's very comfortable, but it is a snug fit. There's no play in it which is good for lots of walking. I got the black and white pair and I just love them!

The shoe rubbed a blister on lt. foot under where the flower was sewn, but not on the right. Go figure. I think the stitching needed trimming, & will eventually be "broken in".

They need to make it in more colors -
This is the most comfortable sandal. It looks good and goes with everything. I just can't find it in the fun colors

These are the least favorite of my many pair of Mephistos. I got them in black and have only worn them a few times because while the little flower is cute, it rubs very painfully between/on the top of my toes and hurts! Maybe if I could stand it, it would get better, but I'm not going to wear shoes if they're not comfortable. That's why I wear Mephistos!

Pretty, but...
I really like the look of this shoe, and the arch support is terrific for my high arches. However, if I walk very much in them, the straps on top cut into my foot and leave blisters, so I have to wear two band aids per foot.

As usual, I was not disappointed by Mephisto!
I LOVE these sandals. I have many pairs of Mephisto sandals. Very cute - received lots of compliments. I only gave 4 stars for comfort because my foot was hurting a little for a couple of days after wearing the shoes around the house for an hour or two. When I tried them on the next day it was a little bit better and the third day I was sold!
As usual, ZAPPOS is terrific!!!

Mephisto Violette -
I bought these shoes in black and red about four years ago and sadly parted with my black ones this spring, after they had been totally thrashed. I got more than my money's worth out of those shoes--they have excellent arch support and needed no break in time. They are also easy to dress up or down--they're the perfect shoes for a Hawaiian vacation.
Unfortunately, the red ones stretched out too much shortly after I got them, but the black ones remained true to size.
It's disappointing that they come only in black and white now--Mephisto used to make come in more colors, like green and orange, in addition to the red. I'd have ordered more pairs if more colors were available.

At first I wasn't sure, but they really are great!
I bought these shoes a year ago while visiting my parents in FL. I brought them home and wore them and they were very painful at the top where the flower is sewn on and it caused a blister. I took them back to the Mephisto store and showed them the shoe and my foot and they professionally softened and stretched the leather for me until I felt more comfortable. They also told me to take a butter knife and rub it against the leather where it feels stiff to further soften it. I did and now they're great! I wear them all the time. They've molded to my foot and are THE most comfortable pair of shoes I own.

Beautiful but very uncomfortable -
I thought I would try this shoe because Mephisto has flattened the space between the foot bed and upper on the Helen's so much I can not even get my foot into the shoe. These were very pretty but very uncomfortable under the part where the thong met your foot.

Simply Love this Shoe...
I love this shoe! It has excellent support - so very comfortable and looks totally cool too. Why was it discontinued? I simply love this shoe. I have bought 3 pairs in black, 1 pair pink & 1 pair green. I would like to buy another pink pair if possible size 7. Can you locate a pair for me? I would buy it in a second...

Love those Violettes!
I have worn the Violette for many years and just keep ordering more from Zappos! I love the look and comfort. I wear a 37 (my US shoe size is 6 1/2). I read all the reviews and wanted to tell anyone that doesn't know that Mephisto's can be sent for refurbishment (strap tightening, new sole and footbed). Call them at 1-866-FIX-Sole for prices and info. They come back better than new. They will send you a free postage paid mailing bag. They really are the world's finest walking shoes!

I have owned the black Mephisto Violette sandals for over a year and they have held up well. I'm not too fond of the Birkenstock style of shoe, but the cute flower draws your attention away from the thick cork sole. I have worn them with jeans, shorts, skirts, and even to a club. I have very bad feet and my podiatrist recommended this brand to me. They are nearly as comfortable as my tennis shoes and orthotics, which is saying a lot. My only complaint is I wish the leather hadn't stretched out so much that it feels like the sandals are going to fall off if I am walking fast. These are great sandals for you if you have bad feet like me.

Great looking. Love the footbed. It fits like a glove with great arch support. Runs very narrow, so that my little toes almost were off, and I do not have a wide foot at all. Tried a size up and the footbed fit much better, but the straps were way too big and made them clunky and floppy. So I will either keep the ones that are too narrow and a just a little short or have to send both back. Too bad, too. They are really comfortable and really cute. Not too often can you find a very feminine sturdy shoe.

The Violette's are very cute. I have worn Mephisto brand for several years now and have never been disappointed in the fit or comfort. The complaint I have with the Violette is that under the strap, where the flower was stapled there is a clump of glue that makes the top of my feet very sore. The workmanship on that section of the shoe is not what you would expect for shoes that costs as much as these. I have kept the shoes and rubbed the glue off as much as possible. I hope they stop making my feet sore or I will have to quit wearing them.

Love these shoes, but it does take a little time for them to feel comfy. But I own 3 pairs of Mephisto and they’re great once there broken in. Costly but my feet are worth it!!

These shoes took about a week to "break" in. Right where the flower is rubbed a blister across the tops of my feet for about a week. The straps felt really tight for the first week.

Not good!
First I love them, after one hour it starts hurting my foot and soon I was unable to walk in them. It left marks on my feet and it hurt so much.

I own 4 pairs of Helen sandals and never take them off. I have been dying for the Violette since I first saw them, too cute for words! Needless to say back they go {thank you Zappos}. The place where the flower is glued on hurt and the toe thing is to stiff. The foot bed is the great Mephisto support you always get though. I tried soo hard to make them work; maybe moleskin on the glued part would work. Can't go wrong with the Helens though and of course Zappos is King, or is that Queen?

A great investment.
I bought the Violette in apple green. I hesitated spending so much on a green sandal. I just love them. They didn't even need to be broken in. They are my third pair of Mephisto’s and certainly not my last.

Love those orange sandals -
Love the sandals…The look is so "feminine and fun". They are pricey and I wonder if they are really worth the price, although they are quite comfortable. I ordered them in my regular size 8, but they seem a bit long. I would try a half size down.
