I bought these shoes for my husband who is diabetic. He already had some white MW811's, but needed a black pair to wear for dress because he has problems with the nerves in his feet due to the diabetes. This has worked out wonderfully and he is much more comfortable wearing these instead of the leather dress shoes. Besides, they look presentable and this pleases me.

I have wide problem feet and need the excellent lateral stability that these shoes have. The shoes fit perfectly and are very comfortable. Also, the insoles are removable to fit my orthotics (like all New Balance shoes).

I have tried other so called walking shoes in the past and none provided the immediate comfort and stability that this shoe has. I would recommend it to anyone that has problem feet. This has been a great find for me.

Wouldn’t want these for walking long distances -
These shoes are comfortable at work behind a desk. I wouldn't want to walk far in them. The heel is loose and the toes are tight. Most New Balance shoes I've had have been great. These are adequate, but not a walking shoe.

Hurting heels -
I had a pair of 811's in white and they were so good I got the brown. I have a pain in my heel and they are the only shoes that don't hurt.

Can't go wrong with New Balance.
I needed a brown shoe with a smooth finish for work that was very comfortable and this shoe is all those things. The shoe looks like it is leather, but it's not. I wear orthotics and these work well with them. It's a walking shoe and very stable; however, the bottom of the shoe isn't made with the traditional non-slip bottoms that people who work in restaurants really need. I'm still looking for that shoe in BROWN!

Great shoe for Tennis -
My husband has a long, narrow foot and cannot find shoes this size anywhere. We were so glad to find this shoe the first time and glad to find it in stock this year. Sure hope that they never stop making it because my husband would have to go barefoot!

Attempting to resolve comfort issue -
As delivered, the insole seems to have too much friction, causing my Thorlos walking socks to "bunch-up" between the ball of my foot and the toes. I have also tried other athletic socks which are not padded like the Thorlos. As this quickly becomes very uncomfortable, I am trying other insoles (including Spenco) to hopefully salvage my shoe purchase. I use the shoes for PAD therapy only, but the comfort level is not even bearable for the length of time spent in the fitness center. As recommended by Thorlos, etc., I purchased a size 11-D which is a half size larger than my normal 10 1/2-D (I did try a 10 1/2 as you can see from my account record) but the shoe still doesn't feel right as noted below.
I am sorry to seem displeased with the shoes; I am trying my best to find a solution other than just buying another shoe.

Sorry New Balance, but your synthetic uppers have caused my feet to stink. I bought them hoping to get a shoe with good arch support but have had to replace the insole with a custom made one. I can't get past the odor.

New Balance Walking Shoes -
I purchased my new shoes from Zappos and received them next day air at no charge to me. This made me very happy.
The shoes are very comfortable and they are black leather with bonded soles. I haven't had any problems with my feet being sore from them. If you do a lot of walking this is the shoe you need.
Also, they come up to 4-E width which is very hard to find in the stores.
I am totally satisfied with my purchase and will order from Zappos again when I need shoes for myself and family.

New Balance Does it again.
I have wide feet and have trouble finding comfortable shoes. But these New Balance MW811 were perfect when I put them on my feet. No pinching, no pain just comfort.

I’m disappointed with the shoe. The shoes are a hazard to wear because of the extra long laces. The laces are constantly coming loose and create a tripping potential. Additionally, the tops are extremely soft and did not hold up very well after being packed in a suitcase for a plane trip. I would not recommend this shoe. I have had many prior pairs of New Balance shoes and was always very satisfied. This shoe does not meet the usual standard.

Excellent walking Shoe -
This shoe is made of fairly soft leather so breaks in easily. The heel and arch have good support. The sole has excellent cushioning which holds up well. This shoe looks dressy enough that you can use it for a dress shoe.
Laces are quite long, so I change them. This is my 4th pair.

These are most likely THE most comfortable shoes I have ever owned. Every sensation is comfort. And I would not have them if it was not for Zappos. I tried to see this model of NB before ordering, and not one store in town had it! After a lifetime of not being able to find even one pair of shoes my size in a store, at Zappos I have multiple choices. These shoes can be worn with orthotics, but I think they should be full length, not 3/4 length. Another review mentioned a noise in the sole of the shoe. I believe that was caused by a 3/4 length orthotic that placed pressure in a bad way on this shoe. It happened to mine one day. I switched to full length inserts and the sound went away. I love the shoes and am devoted to Zappos.

Good Day-Hiking Shoe -
I took a pair of these on a cross-country tour of the US and wore them the entire trip. I made all of my hikes (<20 miles) in these shoes and never had a problem with sore feet! Quite comfortable, but the white style may not be appealing to some eyes.

This is the only shoe I wear. I have bad knees from 20 years in the Marines and another 22 years teaching college. When I put them on, they were as comfortable as a pair of socks. They need no break-in. They are extremely comfortable and look great. I have 3 new pair in the closet just in case they quit making them.

My Favorite New Balance Shoe -
I have tried other New Balance shoes, but I keep coming back to the MW811 for overall best fit for my feet. I wear them until they are "old," and then I order a new pair. The "old" then becomes my "work" shoes for yard work, etc.

Nice shoe with 1 problem -
This is a comfortable shoe when the tongue is centered. I bought mainly because it is available in narrow. The problem is that the slit in the tongue that allows the laces to pass through is so low that it doesn’t keep the tongue centered. It walks off to one side & becomes uncomfortable. The shoe seems well built, but I wish there were more choices in a narrow shoe!

Bought these for my husband who is on his feet quite a bit. He says they fit great and are really comfy. They are a bit dressier than a regular sneaker as they are a smooth brown leather. Will definitely buy again.

Good shoes overall, but not the most fashionable.
I have read that a lot of nurses enjoy this particular type of shoe from a nursing website. From my experience with the shoes so far, they do a decent job. I am happy to support American jobs who put the shoes together. I needed a pure white shoe as part of a required uniform and this does the job. I will personally add some insoles for more cushioning, but that is for my feet.
Style-wise. I ordered the men's shoe, and it is a bit strange that they designed the shoe with a large light blue style under the shoe, but that is a personal opinion. The shoes do squeak a bit when walking in a hurry in a grocery store.

I ordered this shoe in brown/black expecting the same fit as the other colors of the MW811. I was very disappointed. The front part of the shoe is shaped differently and narrower. I'm exchanging them in black. If New Balance wanted to reshape the shoe, they should have given it a different model number.

Great fitting/feeling shoe -
Having recently had back surgery, I was looking for a shoe that looked nice enough to wear to work and would provide enough support. Certainly found it in this shoe. Looks nice with dress pants (believe it or not!) and provides good support while standing on my feet most of the day.

You make shopping easy... and I do love being spoiled. Someone asked me, "Why don't you shop at a particular shoe outlet store. It's waaay cheaper. You get the same shoes, same brands that you like, but less expensive." I couldn't argue the store’s affordability, but then again, by the time I make time after work or use my precious weekends, then drive... (gas-ching, ching)! And if the shoes feel okay for a minute, then have to be returned... same process all over again, and sometimes they will not refund your $$!
