I am soo glad that New Balance decided to bring the M801 back. This has got to be my favorite NB shoe of all time, with a great cushioned ride. Thanx to Zappos too!!!!

Comfortable but a little hot and TOO CLEAN -
I love NB's, don’t get me wrong. They are made in the USA, they fit great, super comfortable and sturdy, and they fit to size etc. But these are going to be my new gym shoes, not going out shoes. They are as bright as the picture, and well, I wear a lot of black. Also sometimes NB's get a little hot, not sure why.

Read reviews before buying! It helps a lot!
I read the reviews and went up a half size. Got it right the first time. To avoid hassles I went with what I read in the review and it paid off. The shoe is pretty comfortable. Problems I found with the shoes: The toe box got all wrinkled up and collapsed after a short period of time. Also, if you plan on wearing these shoes in a shop environment, use extreme caution on any wet floors or areas that may have oil on the floor. The soles of these shoes are very slippery and it's like walking on ice but they are very comfortable to wear on the concrete floor. I'm in my mid forties. When I first got these shoes and wore them to work, a lot of the younger workers were really "digging" the style of the shoe and they asked where I got them. Overall, not a bad shoe for the buck. I have been a New Balance shoe buyer for years now and I have found that if you want a better shoe from them, stick with their higher number models in the 800's and 900's. I'm not sure if this shoe will take orthotics because I don't use them.

I love these shoes. I'm going on my third pair. I noticed this last pair seems narrower in the wide I ordered. Maybe I need to order the extra wide or the shoe just needs time to expand.

Great Shoe -
I have been a fan of New Balance for a long time. This is the third pair of 801s that I have purchased. Very comfortable shoe for trail and street running. Finally a shoe that looks good, is comfortable and can be easily cleaned. Two thumbs up for New Balance and Zappos.

NB shoes review -
The fast delivery time was exceptional. It was so much easier choosing the shoe on line, not having to go into a shoe store. The shoe is a good one. My son is pleased with the way it looks, but I do wish it had more leather to be more supportive for his flat feet.

This is my second pair of these shoes. The first lasted me for about 3 years of constant everyday use. Very supportive to my feet and very comfortable.

My husband has very wide feet (EEEE). He's always had a hard time finding running shoes that fit. This shoe actually fits his feet and they are comfortable to work out in and give him the arch support he needs.

Glad I bought this shoe -
This shoe is great for everyday wear. I've worn it for 14 days in a row while standing most of the time. The shoes feel great! I feel great! The design of the rubber toe wrapping around makes my size 16 look much smaller. Works with jeans, khakis, and work-out-wear.

Great shoes, not the best fit -
I usually wear an 11.5, I ordered a 12 because of the reviews I read and they were still a little small at first. After wearing them around the house for the night they felt great though. And NO LEATHER!!

Ouch! A little off on size...
I bought this shoe 1/2 size bigger than normal based on other reviews but after wearing them for a while they're clearly still too small. I've never bought any size other than normal width in my life but they also feel small in width. I'm going to have to stop wearing these. I'd recommend trying them on first then buying from Zappos.

New Balance does it again!!!
I have a large (size 15), slim foot and was impressed with the secure and un-cramped feel. I spend a lot of time on my feet... and I wear orthotics. To say that I was a bit leary about whether or not this shoe would work for me would be an understatement. I must say that New Balance has, again, delivered a sturdy and uncompromising product for a consumer that is extremely difficult to fit.

Comfortable, looks good... but a bit clunky.
I bought these sneakers after a long search for a 100% synthetic shoe. I'm very happy with them, they fit nicely, they're comfortable, they make walking and a running a pleasure. I guess my only problem with them is that they're a little bit heavy and clunky. But, they ARE all terrain sneakers, so I guess that's to be expected. Especially since they're an old style.

Remember these? I've been looking everywhere for the 801s. They are reminiscent of a much simpler time, before every shoe design became so busy and obnoxious. I'm still looking for the old brown ones with yellow trim.

New Balance Hiking Shoe - Bright and Light -
In anticipation of a hike in the Sierras over 4th of July weekend, I bought a pair of New Balance M801s in mid-June, enough time to break them in.
They are quite comfortable; though they feel about a half-size short, this may be because they offer such excellent support all around the foot.
The shoes are marred by huge navy and reflective yellow "N" stitched on the sides - I tried, more or less successfully to remove the logo from the inside of one of the shoes.
Hiking and climbing around the granite east and south of Yosemite was a breeze - lots of traction, never felt unstable.

Work well and don't expect any trouble. Plenty of room for toes that always want more room for their daily 15 mile walk! Now, if New Balance or someone else could just get me as many miles on these as car tires, I'd really be happy.

A Return to the Classics -
My first purchase of the New Balance M801 was in 1996 (when it was first introduced, I believe). I loved the look and the comfort of this shoe. I recently went back to the classic due to its past performance, but was a bit disappointed. I found the fit to be different from the first time I bought it - I had an issue with blisters on my toes. However, my husband bought the same shoes this time with me and he loves his and is still running in them. In fact, he recently bought another pair! So it's an individual fit. I think the style still looks great, but apparently my foot or the production of this shoe has changed in some way.

This is the 5th and 6th pair of New Balance 801's that I've owned. They last longer than any other shoe I've bought, they're great for hiking and outdoors work, and they come in wide sizes. I'll order them until I can't find them anymore.
