Cooler looking than most Birkenstocks, but not quite as comfortable. I first noticed women wearing Birkenstock Gizeh on a trip to Brooklyn. Unlike my more traditional Birkenstocks, the Gizeh did not feel like a heavenly slipper from the moment I put it on. The strap between the toe is thick and stiff, and made my toes sore for a few days. The strap across the top of the foot sits far back and takes a little getting used to. I stuck it out and now I wear my Gizehs every day because they have great foot support and work with shorts and casual summer skirts.

I usually love Birkenstock, but these shoes are the most uncomfortable I've ever worn. The thong style is painful to wear, and stiff. I've tried wearing them in, but I end up feeling like I have a broken toe.

Toe thong a bit thick, but overall very comfortable. Like the classic styling and glossy leather, makes for a more finished look--goes with everything from shorts to dresses/skirts. Overall, I would buy again.

I usually wear size 8 wide, so I ordered size 39 normal for these shoes. The width barely just fits, but it was too long. Size 38 is a better fit, though I wish there was a middle between the two lengths. I did not feel any toe separator pain that others seem to have.

Love these shoes! I'm pregnant and they were comfortable from the second I put them on. No breaking in needed for me and I've been getting lots of compliments on them. Might want to size down from what the sizing chart says a size or 2. I thought I'd wear a 38, but a 36 was perfect for me.

The first pair I ordered was too big. It was not true to size... so I ordered a size down and exchanged. And I love these shoes. I wear them with everything. The middle plastic part hurt me bad until I got the right size, then I didn’t feel it at all. I recommend this shoe highly...

Bringing back the Birk!
Look, I'm not what you would call a typical Birkenstock gal but these were too cute to pass up. After searching for a good summer sandal with decent arch support these won out by far: no extended "break-in" period, no hurt toe and I get tons of compliments. I trek the city in these bad boys and they haven't let me down!

I love these shoes! I have wide, short feet and knee/ankle problems. I live in New York, so I walk everywhere. I needed a supportive but cute shoe - something I could wear with skirts and pants. I got the Gizeh in shiny black leather in the regular width. They look great! I wore them right out of the box, and they only rubbed a bit (not terribly) at my arch for the first day (I walked at least two miles that day). Ever since then, I've barely even taken them off to sleep, I love them so much. I don't know how I lived without them!

Gizeh is very cute.
The hard plastic between the toes took some getting used to, but these quickly became comfy and easy to walk in. After reading other reviews regarding size, I was concerned my regular 39 would be too big, but it fit just fine. The regular width seems a little narrower in this style than in other Birkenstocks I have (the Arizona, in particular). Overall, I like the styling, fit and comfort.

This is my 2nd pair of Gizeh and as usual I couldn't be happier. My first pair is almost 3 years old and I still love them. As with my other Birkenstocks, what you pay is what you get. Very comfortable and stylish. Durability is guaranteed.

Bought these from Zappos over a year ago. Took a VERY long time to get used to the toe separator, even though I've had no problems with other thong shoes. In fact, initially, it hurt my left big toe, and metatarsal immediately above it, so much I thought I'd not be able to wear them (major, sharp, deep pain, which I might only feel the next day, when I put these back on). Kept 'em as I'd already worn them outside. Got used to them very, very, VERY gradually, over the course of 6-7 months. I'd wear them after work for an hour, a few hours, then skip a day, skip several days to a week, or even skip several weeks, (till pain went away), etc. Finally could tolerate them all day, every day. Now I think they're the most comfy shoes I own. They don't put pressure on my bunion like my Florida’s--which I've had for 13 years, repairing as necessary--sometimes do, when I have "flare-ups." I want to recommend these wholeheartedly, but find it hard because of the ridiculously long time it took me to get used to them. Some people have no problems with the Gizeh thong; some have minor, some have major. Remember, as with all Birks, the Narrow is actually B, or "regular" width, and their Regular is for those with truly wide feet. I feel the Gizeh looks better on those with narrow feet and ankles than the styles with horizontal straps.

I heart Birkenstocks!!
They were a little bit bigger than I had hoped but I should have ordered a size down (leather stretches apparently.) but they are really great and look awesome with a casual suite to wear to work in the summer.

I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the Gizeh wasn't bulky, but was slimming. Also very comfortable but I found that I fit better in a size larger lengthwise.

Love these Birks!
These are my second pair of Gizeh, and I love them. Totally comfortable, stylish (at least to me!), and easy to walk around in (you don't have to try to keep them on your feet like some other Birks). My only complaint is the weird tan line I now have on my feet!

Gizeh - my summer staple -
I wore my previous pair to death over four or five summers, so this was a replacement pair. I love these shoes! I can wear them with anything. They instantly dress up my casual outfits, but add a casual flair to my dressier ones.

Awesome except for the toe part -
I have gotten lots of compliments over this sandal. It is very comfortable, but I have to say the least comfortable of my other Birks. First, I got a mega blister under my 3rd metatarsal while first wearing them. I have been using Body Glide to make this easier to wear and this works wonders. I am hoping that in time, I won't need it. Now as for the toe part, it doesn’t cause me blisters, but it does hurt. For some reason, I keep sliding my foot forward and it hits between my big and 2nd toe and this hurts! I have not lost hope; I will continue to break them in, if this is what it is. But if it keeps hurting, I guess I will just stop wearing them. As for the fit, the 35 wide works great as a perfect fit for me. I am a true size 5 and this size works.

I was surprised that the toe strap/separator was made out of hard plastic; I thought that it would be made of leather or at least covered in a softer material. It doesn't seem to be uncomfortable, though.
Birkenstocks *do* tend to run a bit large, but there should be some wiggle room in the shoes for when you walk around. I had a pair of Birkenstocks that I got in Germany that were a size 40, I ordered the same size here and they didn't fit as well. Maybe the sizing is a bit different (larger) in the shoes that are made for export?
The shoes are comfortable but do take some breaking in. Once you break them in you won't want to wear anything else!

According to the size chart and ones on other sites a US 8 is Birkenstock 39. I ordered some from another site recently and a 39 is huge on my foot. I felt like I was putting my foot into a size 10 shoe. I will agree that narrow is really a regular and the regular width is really wide. My foot was swimming in the shoe. I didn't notice anything overwhelmingly comfortable about it. I think I would probably take a 37 or 38 in this shoe. It's at least 3 inches too large in length and 1-2 inches too large in width.

Love my Birks!
Even though there are hundreds of different sandals out there, I always return to Birkenstock. Had to get this shoe in Black as I already have a pair in bronze. They are so kind to your foot and look so good at the same. I recommend them to everyone!

Great shoes - beware sizing guidelines!
I was sooo confused when I went to order these shoes. So I decided to take a chance and order the 36 regular - despite Zappo's recommendations. I originally wear a 6 1/2, and the 36's are fine. But I should have ordered the narrow. I've always worn a medium to wide, but the Birkenstock regular is really wide. The 36R doesn't look funny, thank heavens - so I'll keep the 36R.
