I LOVE the Mephisto Helen sandals! I have problem feet and have had problems with plantar fasciitis over the years and these provide the support that I need. I've worn this style for years now, and just ordered my fourth pair. Gave my sister my old pair and she loves them too. The most comfortable pair of sandals - more comfortable than Birkenstock!

This is the most comfortable sandal. I'm learning as I deal with arthritis that the more secure the shoe is on my foot the better I do. A lot less pain. This sandal is PERFECT! Comfortable and plenty of arch support. It fits my foot like it was made for me personally! Thanks Zappos for a wonderful shoe, wonderful shipping, and return policy. I don't buy my shoes anywhere else since discovering Zappos in 2007.

I have plantar fasciitis and my foot doctor recommended I use these as they have the best support for your feet. I have to say they feel much better with the help of my foot doctor and these Mephisto's. I can walk again...

I have many pairs of this sandal, I wear a 9 and I wear a 39 in this shoe-I do not recommend sizing up. My toes bump the end, but in a 40 I slide all over the shoe and the arch does not hit me right. A few wearings and the leather usually softens up quite a bit.

Very nice looking sandals. I bought the red this time and own another pair. The leather on this one is hard and hurts my toes. I'm presently wearing band aids on both toes and I'll leave them on until the leather softens since I wore them out and can’t return them and don’t really want to. The scratchy leather is the only problem. Arch support and a size larger is a perfect fit. MAKE THE LEATHER SOFTER!!!

So excited to receive these sandals, but they turned out to be a big disappointment. The leather is very hard and uncomfortable, and feels clunky on my feet. Not at all like a previous pair I bought.

I think these are the cutest sandals! Unfortunately, I wore them right away outside before I gave them a test run on a carpeted floor so I can't return them. I purchased these at the beginning of May and have only worn them twice because, while the foot bed, arch, etc. are great, the leather over the top of the foot is stiff, rough, and hard, causing incredible blisters and sores. I wear a half size and it was suggested on the website that I order a full size larger than what I would normally wear. Meaning, that put me in a size 10 instead of an 8 1/2. I can wear these if I am not going to walk far. Sadly, they are the cutest red sandals at the bottom of my closet.

I absolutely LOVE these shoes. For comfort, they definitely excel above other cork bed sandals. I have numerous pair of Birkenstocks which I enjoy wearing in the summer; however, the Mephisto Helen is a snugger fit and has a raised heel bed which makes them ideal for longer-term walking. To tell you how well these shoes served me, I took these and another pair of durable walking shoes on a one-month trip to China, India, Turkey and Egypt; after hours upon hours of walking, my feet never hurt nor did the shoe cause any blisters! I will definitely buy another pair.

These shoes were made for my feet (almost). The arches and foot support are just right. The only problem I have is with the front of the footbed which curves up. My long toes bump into it when I walk.

This is my second pair of Mephistos, this time I have the blue buckskin Helens. The first pair was a similar style and it took me a few years to really wear them ragged although they're still completely wearable. The Helens are completely comfortable and I did not have to break them in at all. I wear a 9-9 1/2, occasionally a 10 if a shoe runs very small, but in these shoes, as with all Mephistos I wear a 39. Highly recommended.

Love these sandals!! Bought a pair in black and brown I loved them so much. Felt true to size. Took me a little while to break them in - stiff around the toes but they feel great now!!

I bought these shoes because everyone who has them loves them. I also have plantar fasciitis and these shoes are supposed to be good for me. While I look for other shoes to replace my current assortment I bought the Mephisto Helen in a happy orange struzzo color. They are just o.k...I like that they are on the slim side compared to other orthopedic shoes, but the styling is rather "manly". They are comfortable, but I do not like the raised edges in the toe area, as my foot slips forward sometimes and goes over the hard edge. If only the manufacturer would raise the heel, give it a sexier shape, and thin out the straps, we would be in business.

The sandals are my favorite and as soon as the weather breaks, I have them on all day. I wear them everywhere, and with all my outfits. The fit, comfort, and arch support are wonderful.

These sandals are very comfortable but since my feet are flat, the arch support gets somewhat uncomfortable after wearing all day. I bought them in the yellow and absolutely love them!

I just love these shoes, and I was thrilled to find them in red...There are only a few brands of shoes that I can wear, and Mephisto is one of them.
I was really impressed with the speedy delivery and how well they were packed. Doubt that I will ever buy shoes in a store again, now that I have found Zappos.

Run true to size for me -I'm an American 8. Had to try a few pair as the uppers differed and took me a few to find the perfect strap comfort around my big toe. My almost most favorite shoe! I wear these nearly everyday from May through October! They are very casual so when I want something a bit more feminine but casual/comfortable I go with the Mephisto Babata style thong. Love these too! I have widish B width feet and bunions yet this footbed is plenty wide enough for me.This shoe manages to give me excellent arch support, heel stability and enough cushion so that I can stand on them for hours and hours. My feet stay cool and dry in even the hottest weather. I haven't tried walking long distances in these, for that I use Chacos with a back strap. (I also have backless Chacos for flat surface, wet adventures). Chacos soles are nearly as supportive as Mephistos for me - but only for outdoor physical stuff since I prefer the natural fiber feel of Mephistos for all around wear. Mephisto GETS how to make shoes that support even the most sensitive skeletons! Great boots, too! - My back, knees, ankles, and feet are in much better shape wearing these. Worth every penny, they wear for years and years and you can have them resoled! I love all my Mephistos - but my "Helen" sandals are the most often worn.

Worth every penny -
Being on a tight budget, I am not in the habit of spending this kind of money on shoes. BUT...I have been wearing this model for years. Not only is the comfort superior to any other shoe I have worn, but these sandals are made to last! I wear them daily, spring through fall, even for hiking and they still hold up for several years. They are definitely worth every penny. I could not bear to be without them. If only I could find a shoe this comfortable for the cooler months...

It's all about comfort...
I work in retail so I am on my feet a lot. I'm always looking for comfortable shoes and these deliver. I have 4 pair of these Mephistos (in different colors) and I love them...enough so that I keep coming back for more!

Comfortable Mephisto Helen -
I wear MBT shoes to work in, (from Zappos) but wanted a comfortable cute sandal for going out or just around the house. Love these shoes. I now have three pair and have been so happy with the service from Zappos. Whenever possible I use Zappos. I have flat feet and have had problems with planter fasciitis. These are my best sandals.

Pinched my toe -
I have 3 other pairs of Mephistos in the same style, but this year’s yellow Helen was brutally flawed. The leather is too hard and pinches, especially the left toe- my toe on the top got a blister within 30 minutes of wearing (unfortunately outside so I could not return them). They are also harder and with less padding, less arch support than Mephistos generally has. All in all, a much lesser quality of shoe. I will hesitate before buying Mephistos again.

My love of "helen's"
I am a full-time hairstylist and I wear mephisto's helen sandals everyday to work. I stand about 10 hours every day and my feet never bother me with this wonderful shoe! I believe I have 27 pairs of them in almost all colors. The expression "If the shoe fits, buy it in every color" is my favorite. KW

I am not a big fan of this type of shoe. I prefer something a little more stylish. However, as a mom of two small children constantly on the go, my feet were hurting and I needed something with good support. These are incredibly comfortable and provide great support.

Love this shoe!! I first stumbled upon the Mephisto brand when seeking a sandal that was not manufactured in China. Never having heard of this brand I was a little wary at first but, as the footbed is similar to a Birk, I thought I'd give them a try. Glad I did! Well made, comfortable and worth the money. Two thumbs up!
