This is my favorite shoe. I wear it all the time - to the office, store, sightseeing. This is my third pair of black patent, also have a brown and a tan. Comfortable, stylish (especially for a comfort shoe) and goes anywhere. Best shoe for my feet.

Great shoe; however, I have narrow feet so I should have ordered a size down. Will do that the next time. My podiatrist is happy I have some shoe that is good for my feet. Love the height; can't wear the flat style.

Re: Mephiso ElkaI had purchased 2 pair of these sandals several years ago and loved them. When I ordered this pair online I didn't realize they are a smooth leather and mine were Suede, had 2 different colors. Also I discovered my first 2 pair were made in Portugal and these are made in France. The first 2 pair were more comfortable and I liked the suede much better.

I love my Mephisto Elka. I have been wanting them for such a long time, and always chose something a little less expensive. If only I had bought these in the first place, I could have saved a whole bunch of money! They look equally good with slacks, crops, or skirts. I can wear them all day and evening and be comfortable, which is almost impossible with any other shoe. We're going on a Mediterranean cruise shortly, and I know I'll be doing a lot of walking. I'm sure these will be the most comfortable shoes in my suitcase.

I love this Mephisto Elka style shoe. I have it in almost every color. It's just about the only thing I can wear comfortably on my feet. When I wore out my black Elka pair I went to the Mephisto store to replace it with another. To my surprise they say they have discontinued the style. I knew I could find a black pair in my size at Zappos.com. I was right! I typed in the web address, searched my style and size. I placed the order on line and in a few days I had my shoes. Whoo hoo, what more can a gal ask for!

Absolutely love these shoes. I have four pairs, two in the black patent (one for everyday, and one for dress up). I always wear these when I travel - so easy to slip them off and on while going through security at the airport.

The Mephisto Elka are the MOST comfortable shoes (yes that's plural!) that I own. I had bilateral surgery for Morton neuromas - and still have foot pain. These are the by far the MOST COMFORTABLE SHOES I have ever own. I'm on my THIRD pair of the black patent style - and own two other colors. I love the black patent style as I can wear them for business and still feel a little 'dressy' with my corporate attire. I LOVE Zappos service - and when complimented on my Elka's, I rave about Zappos - You are renown and unbeatable for customer service. I will forever buy my Elka's from Zappos!!! Thank you!!

I love this shoe...this is the 2nd pair I have bought. Having said that, there is one problem with the 2nd pair that the first pair didn't have...it makes a slight squishing noise when I walk. This is not a good thing! Size and fit are the same - the only difference is that now it has a new kind of padding in the foot bed and that is the culprit. The first shoe was so comfortable that I don't know why they changed it as it doesn't seem to be any better and now makes noise. Other than the noise issue - I still love the shoe but this problem may change my mind when looking to purchase this style again. I will know more after wearing the new ones longer to see if the squishing sounds get better or go away.

Elkas are great!
This purchase was my seventh pair of Elkas. I love them for work and constantly get compliments on them. They are super comfortable yet somewhat dressy, too. I have high arches and this style is perfect for me.

Great shoe for walking and for feet that get hot.
I bought these shoes after a friend had a pair for many years that she always took on vacation. I wanted an open toe, platform with a heel, and comfort. These are perfect. I recently walked all over San Miguel, Mexico in these and had no problems.

Great European Look!
This is my second pair of Elka. First pair was a soft black leather and incredibly comfortable. Molded to my 11N feet after I tightened the straps. I wore them for four years. My new pair is patent leather and quite stiff. They are about 1/2 size too short. Wish I had taken the advice of other reviewers and ordered a size up. I have tightened the straps; however, my feet continue to slide forward. Elka has a great style. I am somewhat optimistic that I will get the kinks worked out and start enjoying them more. I love Zappos!!!

Elka is a five star winner that I order and wear each year.
I started wearing Elka following foot surgery in 2003. I own this show in four colors. While shopping the other day a woman followed me and as I turned around to speak to her, she said "I was looking to see the name on the side of your shoe, they look so comfortable and my feet are miserable." They have just the correct heel height and toe opening for day-long comfort.

I LOVE THESE SANDALS!
These have been my favorite for years! I have tried several other brands of sandals for less $$ and they aren't as comfortable and don't last as long! This is definitely a wear everyday type of sandal!

Not good for narrow feet -
I bought this shoe hoping it would accommodate my narrow foot - unfortunately it did not. With the buckles on their tightest setting, the straps wrinkled and pulled in an unattractive way and the shoe overwhelmed my skinny foot. Too - bad. I was hoping for another Mephisto home run!

This is my 3rd pair of Mephisto Elka black patent. I actually bought these as a backup pair since they are versatile, comfortable, good looking and great for travel. They don't look like Old Lady "comfort" sandals in the black patent. I have received a lot of compliments.

Great shoe!!!
This is a fantastic shoe with support for my plantar fasciitis problem. I also have the same style with the strap on the back. I can wear these shoes for hours and my feet don't hurt. There is extra cushion built into the sole for added comfort. The size runs very true and the straps are great for adjusting to my foot size. I would definitely recommend these shoes for work or casual.

Love the Elka style -
This is the most comfortable sandal I own and I have it in almost every color it was available in at the time I purchased it. I always wished that I had ordered the red. The only problem I encountered was that the cork and suede interior wears out faster than the upper portion of the sandal. I would like to send them back to be reconditioned s the price has gone up some since they were purchased. Anyone with hammer toes should consider this style. Unfortunately the local stores that still carry Mephistos in this area have dropped this style. I still like the height you gain by the heel, it makes you feel slimmer.

Great comfort.
I have had these shoes for 2 years and I have worn them almost every day in some cases, as I work on my feet all day. These shoes will take you any where in comfort and look great. I have received more compliments on these than I can believe. I also have the brown ones, but the black patent is so outstanding. The straps can be adjusted at any time to give you a great fit. Love, Love, Love!

Ouch!
I have several pairs of Mephistos which I love and I've heard so many rave reviews for the Elka, but these just weren't meant for me. I ordered the tan grain and the leather is so stiff. As soon as I put them on, I knew they would cause blisters even after loosening the straps. I tried walking around the house, but it just wasn't going to work. This is the most uncomfortable comfort shoe ever. I can't imagine trying to walk any distance in them. It's a shame because the arch is nice and high and they look so comfortable. Maybe the leather on some of the other colors is softer. The tan grain is awful.

Disappointed -
Generally, I like Mephistos; however, they seem to always discontinue a known product that works for me. This is a new style for me, which I'm finding uncomfortable because of the hardness of the sole and leather. Also, because I have high arches, the upper buckle aggravates that area of my foot by the end of the day.

All Star Elka -
These are wonderful sandals! I bought two pair, one in tan, one in black patent leather. I have sensitive feet and I also like to walk. These sandals support my feet and allow me comfortable strides on city streets.
