This is my third pair and third color of Rush shoes. I just sent my first pair (12 yrs old) to be re-soled. These are the only shoes that have never blistered my short wide feet on our very active vacations. And even though they aren't stylish, the black pair looks fine with dressy pants, a great space saver when traveling. Mephisto is pricey, but their shoes hold up really well and are always comfortable on my wide feet.

I first bought a pair of these Rush shoes at a bootery in Gastonia, NC that could not get them sold because their clients there in that area did not buy them. Wow were they wrong. I picked up this brown pair five years ago on sale clearance for $89.00 since than I have had them refurbished once and am about to do it again for $62 even with having them remade twice I am still getting my money's worth out of them. The best shoes for working I have ever had, the best for standing and working in retail I ever had. Well worth the price of $300.00 because they out last all other shoes over and over again...

I'm a post-polio survivor with a small discrepancy between my left and right foot. I heard about Mephisto shoes from another post-polio survivor a few years ago. Well, the time came for me to have a better fitting shoe particular to the heel and arch. The Mephisto Rush was the answer. I ordered a size 7, which was true to my shoe size. Because the shoe is anatomic to gender, I liked the slightly narrower wide width for me. The non-slip sole helps my security during my walks and at work. I wear the size 7 shoes with a thin sock, and, like many, will order the half-size larger for a medium to heavier sock. I wear my new shoes almost every day and have found that my back and knees have benefited as well. The little twinges of pain are gone. Zappos service is extraordinary! My new Mephistos are well worth the price; the shoe is so well made. Definitely, if in need of an excellent walking shoe which offers an anatomically correct foot bed, this is the shoe for you!

Even though I keep trying to find less expensive shoes, I keep coming back to Mephisto Rush. They are simply the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. I have real trouble with my feet, but never have problems when I wear these. They are great from the first time you put them on, no break in period needed. They are well worth the price. And, I can't say enough good things about Zappos. Other companies could learn from them -- the best customer service there is.

I really enjoy the Mephisto Rush; I have very bad foot problems. Since I have worn the Rush I do not limp or my feet do not hurt as much. The sole of the shoe is exactly what the doctor ordered. What a pleasure it is not to limp when I walk now. The shoe is not only supportive but is very comfortable. Thank You Zappos for carrying such great products. Mephistos are a well made product.

Comfort worth the price -
The last pair of Mephisto Rush shoes I had lasted 14 yrs with 1 resoling. Despite their looks (ugly to me) & price (on sale), they were so much more comfortable than any other shoe, I had to buy them again. I also bought a pair of Niros for work. After being on my feet all day as a nurse, the Niros beat any sneaker or shoe I'd ever worn. Pricier, yes but, if they last more than a year, they'll be less expensive than the 3 pairs of sneakers I would have gone through and still be more comfortable. To top everything off, I received my order within 3 days & got exactly what I ordered. Zappos promptly emailed me an order confirmation and shipping notice. Overall, a very pleasant experience well worth repeating.

This was my first pair of Mephisto Rush shoes after hearing and reading many positive reviews regarding the Mephisto line of shoes. I purchased my Mephisto Rush shoes mainly for comfort, support and walking. After wearing them for about a month, I think all of these criteria were met and the styling is rather smart for a walking shoe. I also like that the inserts are removable for cleaning. I ended up purchasing two pairs - 1 in black and 1 in the grey color. I would highly recommend the Mephisto Rush if you are looking for a good pair of walking shoes.
Other brands recommended by reviewer: I think Mephisto's are unique. However, I also wear Cole Haan/Nike Air shoes for more dressy occasions.

walking a la francaise -
These shoes are very comfortable for both walking and standing. If you have feet that are on the narrow side, the lacing system is a plus, because the eyelets are placed wide apart, allowing for adjustments. They are better than wearing synthetic leather athletic shoes, because the high quality leather breathes.

I’ve been wearing Mephisto Rush shoes for years. Because I have a chronic back problem, they are one of the few shoes I can depend on for excellent arch support.

Best Walking Shoes Ever!
The Mephisto Rush is the best walking shoe I have found yet. My first pair has lasted me 6 years and I decided it was time for a fresh new pair. They have superior lateral support and exceptional overall support - better than any tennis shoes I've found. They may not be the most fashionable looking but fit and support far outweigh the look!

I work in retail and I am on my feet all day. According to my pedometer I put in an average of 6 miles a day on a tile floor. I am overweight and suffer from chronic foot and knee issues. These are the only shoes I wear! I own every brand of comfort shoes on the market, and none compare. My only wish is that the Nubuck version came in more colors.

These sit in my closet.
I bought these last year expecting tremendous comfort, but every time I have worn them, even with thick socks, blister-resistant socks, moleskin, you name it, they have rubbed the skin on my heels RAW every time, making it painful to walk in any shoe for several days afterwards. Ironic because I bought them thinking they'd be comfortable. The sole itself would be - has a nice springy feel. They need to improve the design on the back, though. For the money, they should not give me blisters and tear my skin.

How to ruin a formerly perfect shoe -
Mephisto Rush used to be the most comfortable, quality shoe I'd ever worn. These gave me blisters, despite trying to break in the shoe by wearing them inside the house. As soon as I tried the shoe on, I could tell these were made very differently than other Rush shoes I'd bought. The inside seams are now easily felt, as soon as I put the shoe on, and begin to hurt the feet as one walks less than one mile. The arch or instep has abrasive indentations which actually caused a huge blister on both my feet!

Bought Several Pairs -
Fabulous shoe. On feet in large bldg walking seven to ten miles a day. Have very bad feet w/ many problems. Only way I can continue working is with this shoe. I spray shoe stretch on bunion areas for the first few days of a new pair to soften sides for tender areas of foot. Is fine after that. Have bought 4 pairs in the last 5 years. Time for a new pair. Wear Rx orthotics inside w/ soft innersole. Greatest shoe in the world for me. I think they run narrow which is great for me since have narrow foot anyway. Thanks Mephisto.

Life Savers!
I bought a pair of the Mephistos Rush and put them on and within three days they were life savers. I had been buying a pair of New Balance tennis shoes every two months and they would not hold up to a concrete floor in a Home Improvement Center. My feet were killing me daily and I could barely walk when I would get up in the mornings. After a week, my feet were 100% better and I have had my shoes for over two years and never regretted buying them. My sister even bought her a pair of the same kind. I will never be without a pair again.

I guess I am just difficult. I read the reviews before I ordered this shoe and was so disappointed when it came. I just hated it. I think it runs short and it is such hard leather and so heavy. It will take years to break it in. Plus, I thought it looked like my grandmother's shoes. Zappos is great though.

Mephisto Myths are TRUE -
For years I heard people rave about Mephisto’s, and finally bought a pair. I now have five pairs, and love them all. Three are the Rush in black, brown, dark gray/green, and two are sandals. They all fit me as well as any shoes I own. They are sturdy and comfortable. I love them.

A Frequent Mephisto Customer -
I have owned other Mephisto Rush and this pair fits differently...it is a good fit, but it has taken some breaking in time. In the past I have put on the shoe and never gave it another thought. This pair is snugger and does not seem as generous. The lacing is different and the overall width of the shoe is not as generous. The shoe has definitely changed...still good but not as wonderful as the previous three pair I have owned.

Not as comfortable as New Balance Tennis Shoe -
Beautiful brown leather. Attractive, not bulky. Very narrow shoe with narrow tapered toe (which I like). Area of discomfort for me is the front of the arch support portion of the insole which rubbed a blister on the bottom of my left foot at the front of my arch. (Felt like a high ridge that shouldn't be there. This ridge did not make itself felt, of course, until I'd walked several blocks outside my house.) I have never had a blister on the bottom of my foot from any shoe. Replaced the arch support with a Dr. Scholl's gel insole, which added 20 dollars to the cost of this shoe. Warning! Very stiff sole that needs lots of breaking in before going on any trip that requires a lot of walking. I rated arch support "excellent" because there wasn't a selection for "very high arch support, inflexible and uncomfortable."

This is without a doubt the best walking shoe I've ever owned. After 3 years of heavy use, it is as supportive as ever. There is a break-in period, but after that the shoe confirms beautifully to the foot. I also own Taryn Rose, but this shoe is in a league by itself.

These are great shoes!
They are a wonderful walking shoe, and have some style which is hard to find! I use custom orthotics in my shoes and they fit very nicely.

Four blisters on my heels.
My report after the first wearing: this shoe DOES require a break-in period. Although I like the bouncy sole and arch support, and I like that the brown leather looks nicer than your average sneaker, however; the heels rubbed me like crazy and my socks could not save me. I choose to be optimistic and believe that these will become more comfortable with more wearings. They were very expensive.

These are my second pair of Mephisto shoes. My old ones (resoled twice) have been in many countries, making my walking easy. Now they are a little shabby so, I ordered a new pair from Zappos and am very satisfied and sure they will last as long as I do!

Great walking shoes!
I ordered my first pair of Rush in my normal size and they feel a full size larger than marked, especially in the heel area, so I have to wear them with extra thick socks to feel comfortable. In addition, with the expert advice of Zappos' team, I decided to order a second pair 1/2 size smaller in a different color. These feel very comfortable and I can wear them with thin socks.

 |  | I can't thank you enough! I have always had a difficult time finding comfortable shoes because I have a very narrow foot. I now have a medical foot issue that has progressed to the point of needing to replace nearly all of my shoes with relatively flat, well-made (translation: expensive) shoes to enable me just to walk without excessive pain. Needless to say, it is difficult to know immediately if a given shoe will both fit my narrow foot and not cause a great deal of pain after an hour of wear. Your free-return policy has been a true blessing to me. It is not easy to spend $170.00 on a pair of shoes that may hurt my feet after an hour and be unwearable if those shoes cannot be returned easily. The specialty shoe store in my area is great, but they offer a limited selection and any special orders can only be returned with a 15% restocking fee. Other online shoe stores require me to pay the return shipping fee and cannot begin to match the customer service that you provide. This can get costly and time consuming when one has the type of issues I have and needs to replace an entire wardrobe of shoes with well-built shoes. I have to say, even if I did not have foot issues, Zappos would be my shoe store for the selection and great customer service alone. Additionally, you offer such quick shipping, the best customer service I have found in as long as I can remember and great selection. I am incredibly happy that I was told about Zappos. You have simplified this part of my life, and believe me, with my foot pain, that is a very large part of my life. I have written other thank you notes to Zappos as well, but I wanted to send a special note of thanks for the quick shipping. I will continue to rave about Zappos to friends and family!
