I bought these even though I had read lots of complaints, and they are wrong, these boots are very comfortable, and fit well, I got them to be able to ride my motorcycle, they give me a bit added height, being 5'3 I need it, Great pair of boots.

The best boots I've ever owned -
These boots are fantastic, as long as you're not in the sun. (They do get a bit warm.) They're durable, comfortable, and look and feel great. I typically wear a W's size 8 in boots, or a 7.5 in all others, but I decided to go for a size 7 and they fit perfectly. Ordering with Zappos has been a pleasure also.

Great Boots!
I work in an industrial battery warehouse. These shoes have saved my feet from falling objects to splatters of acid going all over them. And these shoes never miss a beat! Totally the most comfortable shoes I own. I will wear them till they fall off my feet and then order another of the same model! Totally worth the price!

Great Boots -
I have always, well since I was a teenager many years ago, worn Doc Martens. This pair is no exception! They are very comfortable (I am on my feet all day), and if past experience is anything to go by will last quite a while. And as always Zappos got them to me promptly and with no hassle. I am very pleased!

In true DM style these boots are both comfortable and cool. Insoles mold to your feet in a day and the steel toe is as tough as anything on the market. I'm not a big "high top" fan usually, but these are the most conformable work shoes that I have ever owned, and now I don't mind being on my feet all day.

Steel Toes -
These are the fifth pair of Docs I've purchased from Zappos. All are extremely comfortable for concrete floors where I spend most of my working hours. This is my first pair with steel toes and they take longer to break in and feel a half size smaller than regular Docs. Apparently the steel takes up some room. If you have a choice skip the steel toes, if not you won't find a better shoe.

For those that live in the kitchen...
I have just recently purchased my third pair of these boots. They are wonderful. I work 8+ hours everyday in a kitchen and these boots truly stand up to the test. The soles of these boots have survived everything from grease/oil/food/etc. on the ground with incredible slip resistance and have handled extremely well with sharp objects and 375 degree oil dropped on them. The previous two pair I have owned has each lasted 2+ years and I have no doubt the third will last just as long or longer. I wear a 12 USA (11 UK) and have a wider foot than average and these boots fit great! These boots are the best protection for my feet. I highly recommend them!

I bought these for my boyfriend who works long hours on his feet. He hasn't complained about his back since he started wearing them. They are the only boots he will wear now and they look great. They took awhile to break in, but other than that, they are worth it.

Still the best!
This is the second pair of 8836's I have owned. I got my first pair in 2000 and they were still going strong till this year. I melted the heel really bad on the exhaust of my motorcycle otherwise I would still be wearing them. They are tough but not fireproof ;) The old pair that I had were when they were still made in England and I would have to say that they were better made but not by a significant margin.
The boots do require a lot of breaking in, almost two weeks till they had loosened up around the ankles enough to feel comfortable. The fit is almost identical to the old pair (I still have them and am looking for someone to re-sole them). The toe area is nice and roomy which is a big plus for me because I normally wear an EE and these feel even bigger without being too loose. The sole is not as springy as the old pair but the trade off is that the new ones are even more slip resistant than the old ones. The insole is the only real weak points of these boots in that you have to replace them with something else. I got a pair from the pharmacy for 12 bucks and now the fit is perfect.
The "greasy" finish on the boots does not hold up very long or well but a once a month polish with regular black polish brings the finish back nicely.
I have always liked the look of thick chunky boots that look like boots are supposed to look like, and these fill the bill perfectly.
Overall I would say that with a little work you will have a tough, comfortable and good looking pair of boots that will last you a long time and be up to 10 hour days 6 days a week with a Sunday ride thrown in once in a while too. I highly recommend them.

Dr. Martens 8836 boots -
I work in a machine shop and I'm around a lot of oil and metal chips. My feet hurt from standing all day, so I needed work boots that are comfortable and will last. The 8836 boots where comfortable and lasted over 2 years, and that is excellent. The only problem is they’re heavy and once they get soaked with oil, they’re twice as heavy. I would recommend these boots to anyone if you don’t mind the weight.

I work in a fast pace manufacturing environment where often times I am in an inch of water. These things are amazing. I can put in 14hr days and when I take them off, my dogs are not crying. I'm on my 2nd pair...not because the 1st one wore out but just so I could have brown and black.

Great work boots. On my feet 10 hours a day and they are very comfortable. They are so comfortable that it helps my lower back. I love the air cushion.

This is the third pair of Docs I have ordered as gifts for my son. He loves them. They are so comfortable; he wears one pair for work, and another for social.
Zappos has an excellent return policy. The first pair I ordered was too big - no problem! I returned them and had the right size inside of a week.

Best Boots Ever -
I bought these for my husband to replace an older pair of DMs for work and he loves these even more. They fit perfectly (as always) and were comfortable without having to break them in.

Great boots!!!!
I bought these for my husband over a year and a half ago. He loves them. In fact, we like to joke that these boots helped to save his life one day at work. He was electrocuted with 480V and 2500 amps of electricity. When the medics checked him over, they took off his boots and didn't find an exit wound, so they thought that he just had surface burns. They found an exit wound at the base of his neck to prove that he was in fact shocked. After his recovery, we bought another pair for him and one pair for his dad who works at the same place. Thanks Dr. Marten's!!!! We love your shoes.

Take time to break this in.
These are very cute boots, but they are heavy and caused blisters on my heels the first few times I wore them.

As others have said, true to Dr. Martens, the first few hours are a little tight. Anyone who has worn a DR. M work boot can relate. For those who have not, it will take a little time for the boot to fit your foot, but trust me it’s worth it.

I have a pair of these that I have been wearing for three solid years. I have tried to wear some others, but I keep going back to these. They are not worn out, but I am getting another pair. Stick with what works!!! These Do!!!

VERY FUNCTIONAL & COMFORTABLE BOOT -
This boot has a quiet (soft sole), comfortable fit. After trying two different Red Wing and one Sears work boot(s) without success, I am extremely pleased with the Dr. Martens 8836. The inner sole feels as though it molds to the foot. Break-in should be done in stages, first wearing the boot around the house, as often and long as possible. Once you feel you will keep the boot, start with outside activity, such as walking the dog, etc., to really 'settle in' to the boot. I wear a size US 14-15, right foot bigger than left. I removed the factory insert in the right boot, and then inserted a full-length cushion insert in both. Wonderful. I work for Coca-Cola, drive tractor trailer and merchandise in stores all day on concrete or linoleum. So far, the boot is the best I have had in over two years.

My first Doc Martens -
I've had this work shoe for about a month now. I think it is a very good work shoe. I've been wearing steel toe shoes for 3 yrs. on this job and these were the easiest to wear out of the box. I have a narrow foot, a C width and I just try to fit up with a normal width shoe and the Dr. Martens were a nice fit. A little expensive compared to the wolverines I've wore but a better built shoe. I'm on my feet a lot and in a very hot environment so I wanted something to protect my feet more from soreness. Nice shoe overall, you wouldn't be disappointed with them. The one negative is they are made in China, imagine that! What are you going to do?

I love my new Docs. This is the first pair I have ever purchased and certainly not the last. I also realize that I have found the most customer orientated company I have ever dealt with. Best work boots ever!
I'm an EMT with an ambulance service and constantly end up running over my feet with stretchers and wheelchairs due to tight confines in people's homes and they definitely help with that. While these boots are almost 5 lbs, they are the most comfortable boots I've ever had and my back hurts less after a day of wearing these then with previous boots I'd tried. Docs are great and I wish I'd tried them years ago.
