Zappos is the best!
I just wanted to send my outmost appreciation to Zappos and their excellent customer service. I actually ordered my Adidas Rod Laver's from another site and I was quoted a date of when my shipment would come in and it ended up not coming in until 2 weeks later. So I ordered my shoes on Zappos and told the customer service rep and she was great! Very helpful and she really worked with me. I ended up getting my shoes the next day with the free overnight shipping. I'm very happy with the shoes and very happy that I was able to use Zappos.com; I definitely will use you again and definitely spread the word about your site.

A Classic -
From first glance of the Rod Lavers I was hooked. Yeah, there are some really cool, modern styled, sneakers out there, but this is a classic look that I'm into. It could be due to that I'm considered a classic myself or maybe that its style hearkens back to the sneakers when I was growing up. Who knows? Past that, it's very comfortable and light for getting around the court. Though, I’m not as quick as I used to be and it takes me longer to get to those wide shots, it’s not the fault of the Rod Lavers. It’s the fact that I’m pushing 45 and up until I started playing tennis again, the only physical thing I did was push a mouse around on my computer. Getting back to the style thing, when I wear my Rod Lavers to the office the “young kids” think they are “groovy”. “Groovy”, now there’s a word you don’t hear much anymore.

Mine had some green streaks on the uppers, but otherwise look great. Fit true and comfortable.

Great casual shoe!
It is really too bad that Adidas stopped making these (they aren't even on the Adidas website) because they are comfy, preppy, and hold up very well. Get your hands on them before they are gone forever! (I have 3 pairs already).

Rod Lavers -
This was the first pair of Adidas that I have bought that were uncomfortable. The shoes took about a week to break in and left my feet in a lot of pain after the first couple of days. They are very narrow and even loosening the laces didn't help. The shoes feel great now, but they are hard to keep clean because of the fabric that is used.

Great shoe until it fell apart -
I loved my Rod Lavers - I had a pair 20 years ago and loved them then as well - but the sole started to come apart after only 3 months. True, I’m on my feet all day, but I’m not particularly hard on shoes. The soles of these started shredding and falling off in chunks! I bought ‘em for summer, but they didn't make it through spring.

Most uncomfortable shoe ever -
This is the most uncomfortable shoe I have ever worn, which was very disappointing considering I absolutely love the cool, vintage look. I spent three weeks trying to break them in with no luck. The sole was especially hard. Zappos was out of the blue trim version so I got them through the Adidas website which luckily had a 100% satisfaction guarantee. Adidas needs to improve the quality of their Originals line!

These shoes are amazing for footbag. If you’re into doing some advanced tricks or just having a chill hacky sack game with some buds, then this is the must have shoe.

Very comfortable sneaker. Lightweight for summer, which is what I wanted. Looks great on. I love that the original styles are back. This one is timeless.

Old-School Style--But Old-School Cushioning, Too -
I'm very pleased overall with these shoes. However, it's worth noting that their authentic old-school styling extends to the cushioning, too. I find these rather stiff in the sole, and not very cushy.

Cool sneaks -
Very cool looking; pretty comfortable, but not as much support as "modern" sneaks. These ran 1/2 too big--usually an 11 in Adidas, but took a 10 1/2 in these--but Zappos was great about the return.

Several years ago I "found" Rod Lavers. I have narrow feet with a high arch.
I went back to wearing a "tennis shoe." There is NOTHING like a Rod Laver!!
The comfort and fit are exceptional. And when I wear a pair out and need new ones, I go to Zappos first!!
Incredible for all day standing.

This shoe gave me the worst blisters on the top of my big toe ball mound. The problem is where the stitching for the laces are rubs on my feet (both of them). I am still breaking them in. I have never had a shoe that did this to me. They are so cute though.

Why bother?
I agree with the earlier reviewer who said that these are a 'fashion' sneaker only. Since when did it become okay to just start making shoes cheaper and cheaper? These are garbage.
The soles are now a hard, slick compound that leaves marks, even on themselves! (Lavers never did this before).
The construction is just plain cheap. If you compare these latest ones with some made even 5 years or so ago, you'll notice the difference. They even look cheap.
I never bother to review anything, but hear this; don't waste your time if you are looking for the 'classic', this ain’t it...

The "Old Skool" look that never looks old...
Although I'm not much of a tennis player, these shoes go great w/ any pair of jeans and t-shirt combo! Not too flashy like some other "retro" shoes, these are the real thing...

Does look great but could use more comfort for support -
I got these shoes on a generous overnight shipping from Zappos. Overall, I'm happy with the purchase. Only thing is that at first it's a bit hard on your feet and that it could definitely use more support. I'm quickly getting used to them though. Great looking shoes that are great for people who don't mind having to go through some feet pain in the first few days.

Best "Tennis" shoe ever?
The Rod Laver "tennis" shoe is the best casual wearing shoe ever! This shoe goes with everything, jeans, khakis, shorts whatever casual dress you’re going with. I will purchase 1 or 2 pairs every year. Thanks Zappos for continuing to carry the Rod Laver classic "tennis" shoe.

True Tennis Shoe -
Would recommend. Looks good with shorts or jeans, even could pull off with khakis. Very versatile, very classic. Just great all around tennis shoe.
