Outstanding -
This is a fantastic boot! These are my second pair of TPS 520's, they handle everything I can throw at them. From the wet and snowy winters here in West Virginia to the concrete and steel of the warehouse where I work, to the hiking of the summer months. A truly outstanding boot!

My favorite boots -
I'm 49 years old, 5'11", 185 lbs. These are the best boots I've ever owned. Bought them over a year ago after reading all the excellent reviews and trying many high end boots. My heels are prone to slip in most hiking boots, but the 520s fit the best. Trained for months with 65 lb pack for a demanding Smoky Mountain trip (carried 50 lbs). These boots took it all and asked for more. I loved my Vasque Sundowners (the old Italian version), but overall the 520s are better, although a bit heavier. Next time I see them on sale, I'm going to buy another pair. Also, based on some reviews, I'm going to try the Superfeet Greens for some more arch support. Also, I'm addicted to Gore-Tex (sorry Ray Jardine).

Awesome Boots -
Don't even think about Vasques. These blow them away. I wear them every day for ranch/general work. They are comfy and tough and fit well. I replaced the original footbed with Superfeet, and they are great.

Awesome Boots!
Tried many boots and walked many miles until I found the 520s. Just got back from Kilimanjaro where I put many miles on these in rain, snow, and sleet... no blisters or hot spots. I used just wool socks and no liners, the boots kept my feet dry, warm, and happy. The only upgrade was Superfeet green inserts which really made these great boots even better for me.

Great Boot -
I am happy with this purchase. The break in period is short. The boots are comfortable, supportive, and attractive. I have no regrets. This was my first experience with Zappos. Delivery time was fast. I will be a repeat customer.

My first hikes with new boots -
I truly like my new boots. They are very, very comfortable and substantial. I have been on two winter hikes - one involving very wet snow and streams and they held up very well. Most important though is support and comfort. I've had a small strain in one foot for several months and hoped these new boots would help and so far they have. The look of them is a little too classy for me, but I plan to use them a lot, scuff them up, and feel they better reflect who I am.

Wow!
First off, these guy's get your boot to you quick! . . Have ordered from other companies, and Zappos is the Fastest shipping! ... What I wanted to write was this boot does not come a size bigger than marked, as some have stated in past reviews. It is Very true to size . . . Believe me, I was worried when ordering also. I wear a (11 1/2) wide in all other boots, as I have many! The Euro (46-1/2) , which is U.S (12) fits great with just enough toe wiggle room, and great fit all over . . . These boots are more impressive in person than online photo. I own Scarpa, Carolina, Georgia, Danner, & Timby's . . . These (520's) are the most comfortable. But make sure you get the wides, as they are not that much wider than stock, as this would be needed if you are contemplating the wides . . . Love these boots, so far!

Eric S. Clinton, NY -
Nice leather, quality workmanship, good support. This boot requires very little break in. It has a nice stride to it. It is a supportive and firm shoe, but it flexes just the right amount to allow a normal unclunky walk. The sole grips well and has good shock absorption. The weight is about what one would expect for an all leather boot. The Gore-tex liner does retain moisture for those of us with sweat issues. The non Goretex TPS 535 were about the same with this issue. Wear moisture wicking socks. I need to wear orthotics or supportive insoles such as those made by Redwing Shoe Company. These boots are easily adaptable for this. I can even wear them for short periods without additional support. I haven't tested the waterproofness of these boots yet. They have been used for a few short hikes and around the house/ casual wear. I have been able to stand and do activities in them which, when wearing other shoes, sometimes has resulted in leg cramps or Sciatica flareups, due to poorer fit and support. These boots, and the several other ones I mention further along, are highly recommended. I have also had good luck with Vasque Clarion, LL Bean Cresta Hikers, and Lowa Banf. I also recommend Zappos as a great company to work with. Service is fast and reliable.

Great Boot takes lots of abuse -
I had a problem with my feet and consequently tried many different types of hiking, backpacking boots before trying the Asolo boot. I just purchased my second pair. The length of wear amortizes the cost of the boot which is a bit spendy for me. I have worn the soles so thin that the soles are separating from the uppers and my feet are still dry in a wet snow.
I put on the new pair and without a break-in period, they are as comfortable as the old pair. Down the trail I go with a ho, ho, ho, my feet say Merry Christmas!

Asolo Boots -
Boots were stiff for about a week (nothing new), they are comfortable, walk well on hard clay covered with fractured rock. Good ankle support. You get what you pay for. Zappos was great; they got it right in every way with my order.

Good, solid rugged boot -
I am 6 and 170 lb. Ive hiked 140 miles in these boots this spring and summer carrying packs weighing between 40 and 55 lbs. These boots are very rugged and, when laced properly, keep your feet and ankles very secure. There have been numerous times when ordinary trail shoes or lightweight boots would not have prevented injury while slipping on stones, logs or trekking through creeks. These boots have kept me injury free and completely prevented any water from seeping in. However, the Goretex liner retains all moisture generated by your feet. Most days, I couldnt wait to extricate my sweaty feet and soaked socks from the boots at the end of a long day to soak my tootsies in a cold creek or lake. While my feet were generally very comfortable, after 5 miles or so and especially under load and during descents, the narrow toe box tends to push the pinky toes in causing some discomfort and squishing. The leather is generally very tough, but rocks will scratch and scrape the leather, particularly in the toe area. A rubberized external toe shield incorporated into the design would prevent this unsightly damage. Overall, I have been pleased with this boot and expect to get another couple hundred miles before retiring them.

Asolo 520 -
The quality of workmanship is excellent. I replaced the insole with Superfeet Green and that helped the arch support. The laces are not the best. I replaced them with round cord laces that work much better. Yes, I do recommend this boot. The price is slightly high, but you get the quality that you pay for. Zappos is an excellent dealer. I highly recommend them...excellent service and always very quick.

Great Boots & Greater Service!
These boots look great and feel great. They do require a bit of a break in period, however. This is in no way problematic as long as you are aware. Additionally, you simply can not beat the service provided by Zappos.com!

The wide fit is hard to find, but these boots are the perfect width for my husband's feet. He found them to be very comfortable and sturdy, and he does a lot of backpacking. Very good shoe.

They take a fair amount of breaking in - do not buy them and go for a 10 mile hike! Looks are great, great footing on any surface. Good at all temperatures.

The Best Boot I Own -
This is a great boot, good stability, great comfort, minimal break in time. After purchasing this boot, I wore it around the house and running a few errands; no more than 2-3 miles in them. After which, I hiked the Grand Canyon rim to river to rim in one day. No problems at all; minimal hot spots.

As close to a hand made hiking boot (Limmer) that I have experienced. Heavenly in fact. I'm thinking of buying a second pair before Asolo screws up and stops making them.

I wear a 14A. These shoes were flexible enough to fit my feet comfortably the first time I put them on. I worried about breaking them in but didn't have to. They were easy to wear from the start.

These where my first pair of backpacking boots and after fitting my skinny heel in it was over. Three or four years later and lots of miles in and out of the woods and there still sweet. One thing though replace the laces theyre to long I use Para cord and thats a lot better.

Excellent leather boot -
I work on building controls and need comfortable boots. ( Can't stand Durashocks, Justins, etc. They're for digging holes.) I have used Timberlands, Salomon Contragrips and the like. Even tried a pair of Danner Journeyman boots ( Terrible fit for big dollars. Like a plank of rubber with a leather upper.) I have a medium-narrow foot, low volume. I weigh about 195lbs. I am extremely picky and I no longer tolerate poorly engineered shoes, especially with the amount of daily climbing/walking I do.
Just purchased the 520's and they fit like a glove. The insoles supplied by Asolo are a little on the hard, thin side but what a great boot. The Gore-tex lining is high quality, completely covering the interior. Not much break-in at all. Just before these, I returned a pair of Power Matic 400 GV's. The 400 is for a little wider, higher volume foot, as they stretched out too much in a few days. Probably due to the type of material. I also purchased a pair of Asolo Fugitives. Another excellent boot that is very light. The only improvement I might want for the 520 is the cool roller lacing hardware that comes on the Power Matics.

Great looking, good feeling boot with good materials. I chose this boot because of the sizes available. I wear a 14 wide, so finding a good looking shoe is sometimes hard. Zappos has it all.

TPS 520 -
The fit of the TPS 520 is outstanding! I regularly wear a 10.5 M, and this model provided near perfection for my feet. Other brands I've tried (even a couple from L.L. Bean) were consistent in sizing, but none offered the combination of classic styling, rugged Vibram outsole, Gore-Tex lining and quality of workmanship in the TPS 520. To the uninitiated, the cost may seem a bit high; after a day's arduous trekking, though, your feet will confirm the expended funds were well applied.
