I love these shoes. They\'re comfortable right out of the box and the color (I bought the grey) goes great with everything, especially jeans. They may run a little small. I can\'t wear socks with mine but I had no intention of doing that anyway. If you do intend to wear them with sports socks, you might want to go up a half size. My only complaint is that on the right shoe, the rubber has started to come away from the canvas around the front of the toe box, and that started almost immediately. Not a big deal though.

I'd been shopping for brown shoes for a while, and I don't think I could've done better than these hemp Sno Tires. Not only are they extremely comfortable, they are environmentally sound as well. I actually like these better than my Vans core classics. This is my first pair of Simples, but definitely not my last.

I really wanted to like these shoes because of their earth friendliness. However, after owning a pair and wearing it almost daily for not quite a year, our ways are parting prematurely. Tossing shoes that I haven't worn out is something I virtually never do and I guess by doing so, they didn't turn out to be earth friendly for me after all. On the up side, the leather is soft and fits snugly. The shoes look fine, although very thin and snug, like a moccasin. And, as I mentioned, at least in production they are earth friendly. On the down side, the sole is just a rock hard piece of tire rubber. I now know that tire rubber is made for the weight to surface ratio of a car, not a human, at least not a light one like me. They were slippery, but probably would have lasted a long time. They have no cushioning or support whatsoever. I'm a pronator and even with my orthotics that usually make every shoe comfortable or at least tolerable, these ones were a pain. In addition, the bumper strips came off at the heel early on. The shoe laces are extremely slippery and come undone all the time. And this is the most water permeable leather shoe I have ever owned. Walking through wet grass for 100 feet is enough to give you wet feet. I ordered them a half size larger than my usual fit and they were still snug. These shoes simply didn't work for me.

Pros: Style is very nice. They are well constructed. \r\n\r\nCons: I have a high arch and their is absolutely no support, my feet start hurting if I walk in them for 2+ hours. I got the black shoes with white laces and the black color stained the laces a little after a few wears. The soles have absolutely no grip, I\'m hoping I won\'t fall too much when the snow flies.

Im very pleased with these sneakers. Theyve inspired unsolicited praise from friends, they seem well constructed, and I feel happy when I wear them! On the other hand, as many others have said, theyre definitely very small for their size. Im usually a 10, and 10 1/2 is barely large enough for me. And seeing notes about them falling apart when they get wet, Im not wearing these shoes in the rain. They also seem to squeak a little when you walk!

Great design and look. The shoe has a slight curve to the bottom due to coming from a car tire but quickly break in. They are very light and good for travel but do not provide as much protection from hard surfaces such as rocks or cobblestones.

If you like comfortable, long-wearing, lightweight, casual/athletic shoes with "old school" styling, then these are the shoes for you. These babies offer the "classic" styling of Converse All-Stars, but with more padding inside. If you have high arches and need a lot of support under the arch, try a different brand; these are not for you. However, the inner soles are removable, so you can replace them with thinner or thicker innersoles or even orthodics. The outsoles are rugged; I've owned mine for over 8 months now (even threw them in the washing machine & dryer). They're my everyday shoes and still look great. I followed other reviewer's recommendations and bought a 1/2 size larger. I normally wear a Men's size 10 Medium width, but got the 10 1/2 and they fit great (length & width). These are great shoes. I highly recommend them.

These are comfy shoes that I have no problem walking around town in. I went with the black (hemp) ones and couldn't be happier. They are made of hemp/organic cotton and recycled materials. Simples tend to run a little small, which is fine if you're aware of it or have the chance to try a pair on. I usually wear an 11 or sometimes a 10.5 depending on the brand. I got a 10 in these and they fit me well. I don't think I would want them any larger or smaller.

Simple shoes, simply great.
For a 19-year-old with flat feet, the supposed lack of arch support is irrelevant to me. They're comfortable, durable, and once broken in, identifiable. These shoes have personality, and as John Travolta says in Pulp Fiction, "personality goes a long way." Of course, they were talking about pigs; regardless, these shoes are awesome. And besides, how cool is it that the bottom of the shoe is a car tire? As for Zappos, wonderful next-day delivery yet again.

Got these for my boyfriend and he is very happy with them. They\'re fairly comfortable, though not a lot of arch support. They\'re also casual enough for jeans but don\'t look out of place with a pair of khakis or chinos. Definitely not for formal occasions but pretty flexible otherwise. Plus, they\'re generally nice looking.

These were exactly what I was looking for: simple, non-flashy style and very comfortable. They actually turned out to be much more comfortable than I was expecting, after wearing them for a month. At first where it touches the achilles chafed a little, but it went away quickly. One thing to consider: you won't be able to just slip these shoes on. They fit tightly around your ankle, and because there is a canvas strip at the top, it doesn't give at all. If you don't mind sitting down and taking a minute to put your shoes on, it's not a big deal. This is my first pair of Simple shoes, so I'm hoping they will hold up over time.

You may be reading some of these reviews and hearing things such as "too tight", "simple emblem on the back of the shoe falls off", and "not durable". The problem with these reviews is that people fail to take into account what these shoes are. The shoes are made with water based glues, not concrete, so if 3 months down the line the emblem falls off, it's to be expected. Others may complain about lack of comfort, possibly because they did not order 1/2-full size bigger as suggested. I find these shoes have much more comfort and support than Converse All Stars and the Vans slip ons, which I have worn forever. The last complaint of lack of durability is an odd one, considering these are canvas shoes, not leather boots. If you look at these shoes realistically, they are awesome for what they are. I recommend these to everyone who asks about them (and lots of people give compliments) and I plan on buying them again when the pair I have wears out (I bought the white ones). So please highly consider buying these shoes; you will be glad you did!

I like these shoes a lot; I got the black hemp variety. They are very comfortable, solidly made, and super-nice looking. (I also have the black hemp sandals by Simple; also wonderful.)\r\n\r\nI just wanted to mention that I disagree with another reviewer\'s thoughts on sizing. I am normally a 12, and ordered a 13 as the review suggested. This was a size too big. I ordered a 12 to replace it, and it fit perfectly. So, your mileage may vary, I think these shoes fit the same as other similarly-marked shoes.\r\n\r\n(The shoe has European sizing information on it; it would be nice if this was also on the website. I know I wear size 46 cycling shoes that fit perfectly. The 13s are 47 and the 12s are 45.5. 45.5 is closer to 46, and it ended up being the best fit.)

I needed to replace my trusty old all-black lo-top Chucks, I couldnt find them. The idea of a 'green' shoe was appealing, and the Sno Tire was stylistically what I was looking for. Comfortable enough, sizing was right on for me, and I don't have the lace problems that others seem to. But...I've had these shoes for less than a month, have probably only worn them 10-15 times, and there's already a hole in the sole at the heel. Big disappointment. I can't believe that these aren't at least as durable as a good 'ol cheap pair of Chucks...

I love almost everything about these shoes and Simple EXCEPT their durability. In less than six months of very casual wear the sole separated from the front "toe-wrap" or whatever you call the white band that runs all the way around the shoe. I also agree with another reviewer that there is something about these shoestrings that makes them impossible to keep tied, but I was willing to live with that for an eco-friendly shoe made of hemp. The big question though is: How eco-friendly are shoes that I have to replace every six months?

I bought the white hemp Sno Tires. They felt awkward at first, but became comfortable after about a 2 day break in. Not the worlds most comfortable shoe, but thats the price you pay for saving our planet I guess. Overall nice shoe though. Fits nicely, sizing is accurate. Can't give an opinion for durability yet, as I have only had them for a couple of weeks, but so far they are holding up well considering what my shoes go through on a regular basis.

Bought these shoes two months ago for my boyfriend after buying myself a pair of the "Caramel" style. His "Sno Tire" shoes are very comfortable and have held up even while walking a lot. The Simple logos on the heels of the shoes seem to come off easily. One completely fell off and one is about to. But this could be just from the way HE wears his shoes. (The heel logos on last two pairs of a different brand he's owned also wore off really fast.) But that's been the only sign of wear and tear on these shoes. And considering he's the type to not take great care of items other than his laptop and guitars and uses his jeans as a napkin, I conclude the shoes are built well and worth trying!

Of the Chuck Taylor-ish sneakers I have owned, these are by far the most comfortable and durable. (That is to say, you probably don't want to go for a jog in them, but walking around the city has been very comfy and they are holding up great.) AND they look great. I get lots of compliments on them. People are all like, "Where'd you get those?" And I launch into my explanation of Zappos.com and the amazing Simple shoe company. Seriously. I haven't been this happy with a pair of shoes in a long, long time! Be aware they run a tad small. I normally wear a 13 and a 14 works well for me.

I was not satisfied in the least with these shoes. I, like another reviewer, was a big fan of the concept of the shoe company, and loved the stories of how their shoes are made. First, the shoes are indeed too small for their labeled sizes. Second, parts have already begun falling apart after no more than a dozen wearings: the rubber stamp on back, and the fabric around the toe that used to be attached to the rubber outsole. The are indeed uncomfortable to wear. And the most annoying part is that their eco-shoe laces do not stay tied at all. They're too slick or something; I'm constantly retying them. Correction, I don't wear them anymore so I don't have to retie.

 | | Zappos, you are amazing! Can you please explain to me how you can make shoes arrive on my doorstep 12 hours after I order them? I placed my order at 10 pm, and by 10 the next morning I got an email saying the box was on my porch. Even my daughter was impressed, because she knows that when you order things on the computer they generally take forever to get here. We are mystified but very grateful! Many thanks for the most incredible service out there!
