I love these boots. They are cute and very comfortable. I’ve been wearing them pretty much since I got them. They seem a little big, but I suspect that’s so you can wear nice thick socks with them. The only criticism: The "Slate Black" is actually a nice brown - the picture is correct, the color description isn’t, and the wool seems to ball up quite a bit.
Other brands recommended by reviewer: I pretty much only wear Keens these days.

I love these boots, but not for every situation. They are very warm and fit well and extraordinarily comfortable, but they wear like moccasins. The sole is rubber and sturdy, but thin enough that I feel rocks, sticks, and sidewalk cracks through them. I would not wear these in the woods; I'd call them "urban boots" and advise against wearing them any time you think you might be walking on even gravel (flea markets, parking lots, etc.) Ouch! But for sidewalks, roads and very smooth and worn city trails, they are fabulous! Most comfortable ever. Most boots I have to wear a 12 to get them on and live with longer toes, but these I wear an 11 medium (just like the sandals I love from Keen) and they support my very high arches and instep better than any shoe ever. They truly wear like moccasins for me. If you feel a slight initial pinch, as I did, know that they stretch easily and quickly (within one hour, I felt like they had been custom fitted to me). I will wear them daily for my campus job, but not so much in the woods on the weekends. I have true hiking boots for that.

 |  | I can't thank you enough! I have always had a difficult time finding comfortable shoes because I have a very narrow foot. I now have a medical foot issue that has progressed to the point of needing to replace nearly all of my shoes with relatively flat, well-made (translation: expensive) shoes to enable me just to walk without excessive pain. Needless to say, it is difficult to know immediately if a given shoe will both fit my narrow foot and not cause a great deal of pain after an hour of wear. Your free-return policy has been a true blessing to me. It is not easy to spend $170.00 on a pair of shoes that may hurt my feet after an hour and be unwearable if those shoes cannot be returned easily. The specialty shoe store in my area is great, but they offer a limited selection and any special orders can only be returned with a 15% restocking fee. Other online shoe stores require me to pay the return shipping fee and cannot begin to match the customer service that you provide. This can get costly and time consuming when one has the type of issues I have and needs to replace an entire wardrobe of shoes with well-built shoes. I have to say, even if I did not have foot issues, Zappos would be my shoe store for the selection and great customer service alone. Additionally, you offer such quick shipping, the best customer service I have found in as long as I can remember and great selection. I am incredibly happy that I was told about Zappos. You have simplified this part of my life, and believe me, with my foot pain, that is a very large part of my life. I have written other thank you notes to Zappos as well, but I wanted to send a special note of thanks for the quick shipping. I will continue to rave about Zappos to friends and family!
