Gosh, I wanted to love these shoes. I used to have a similar pair of docs about 8 years ago, and was happy to see they\'d brought these chunky-funkies back. Alas, these are a little different. If I want to walk fast (a must when crossing Chicago streets!), it\'s not terribly easy. I have to really high step to get around the heels. I don\'t recall this model being so awkward to walk in a few years ago, but these sure are. The good thing about them is that they more than accommodate my orthotics, but again, it does make me nervous to walk without thinking about each step I take. If I wanted to think about each step, I\'d wear high heels! Maybe a taller gal wouldn\'t have the same issues with these shoes. I\'m only 5\'3". As for the leather, well, the quality doesn\'t seem to be up to docs usual standard. It looks a bit like a neoprene scuba suit. When slightly wet, they look like black olives. I\'ll keep wearing them once in a while, but not for my daily walks to school (1.5 miles one way), and certainly I\'ll never trot to catch a bus. \r\n\r\nSorry docs. I love this brand, just not these shoes.

 | | My first experience with Zappos.com was during the winter a few years ago when I needed a pair of silver sandals to wear during the holidays. I saw Zappos.com advertised at the airport and thought to see what they were about. The rest is history. During that search for sandals I had as many as nine pairs here to try. They came the day after I ordered them via FedEx and those I didn't choose (I ended up with two pairs) I put back in the box, taped it shut, attached the prepared return label they had enclosed with the shipment, and dropped them off at the packaging store that same day. They were gone almost as easily as walking away from a pile of tried on rejects in the department store! Since then I use them more than 70% of the time when I am shoe shopping. There really isn't anything quite like trying on shoes with the clothes in my closet as well as trying for fit and comfort. It's an ideal way to buy shoes and I highly recommend it! There isn't another web shopping site anywhere that makes it any easier! | | ~ Fran C, September 13 2009
