This brand of shoe caught my eye and it wore well right out of the box. I found the leather to be very forgiving. I am not picky about my size. I will allow a snug fit as well as a slight roomy fit, but this shoe had to be returned to get a 1/2 size smaller size than I normally wear and it stills feels roomy but comfortable. Back down a 1/2 size when ordering.

The shoe was reasonably comfortable, although it\'s made of stiffer leather than you\'d guess from the photos. Also, as one of the other reviews said, it\'s definitely shinier leather than you\'d expect, which I think looks a little weird given all the decorative stitching. I ended up returning this shoe.

Just OK -
I purchased this shoe to wear with jeans rather than wearing sneakers. I bought a narrow, but it's still a little wide. Average cushioning and support. And after wearing them for a week, they are still stiff. They’re just OK. I would not buy another pair.

Chinese Made, looked better on screen and didn't feel good -
I got these in dark brown. They look different on the page than they do in person. Once you get them they are a lot shinier looking.
When I put them on they felt pretty good. Half way through the day I could barely walk because of the pressure they were putting on the top of my feet. After wearing these for a full day, walking around without shoes feels quite different than when I take off other shoes and walk around. Sending these back, very disappointed.

Great shoe -
This shoe is fairly comfortable and looks great. The leather is fairly stiff so it takes a little while to break them in but now they're broken in and comfortable. Just the look and feel makes me think it's a high quality shoe.

Excellent buy!
I looked and looked for shoes that were both comfortable and of high quality. I'm hard to buy shoes for because of my wide, flat feet, and these are very comfy. A bit stiff at first but they break in well. The insole has very little support, even for my flat feet, so I had to use my Superfeet insoles in them. Overall, this is a terrific shoe!

Cool comfort shoe -
To struggle with shoes has been my problem for years. If I get a show which is comfortable I will sacrifice style and coolness!! Yet with these shoes I did not need to they are all coolness. They were wider than the wide I am used to, which required another thicker sock but it did not take away from comfort. This shoe was ready to wear out of the box with no break in period! That has never happened with me and shoes. I plan on being a red wing owner for a while.

Great looking shoe, accurately described. Exceptional traction. If I could change anything I would give it more arch support. Some reviews said it had moderate arch support but not in my opinion.
1st experience with Zappos. I'm impressed with the customer service and the speed at which my order arrived.

Excellent choice for extra wide feet -
I have 12 EEEE-wide feet, so finding shoes that fit and also look good is extremely difficult. I couldn't have made a better choice with this shoe. It's stylish and comfy - probably one of the most comfortable pair of shoes I've ever owned.

Zappos was its usual top notch service. The shoe is a perfect narrow width, true to size, and well made. I hope they keep making this style in the future!

The best for me -
This is probably the best pair of shoes I've ever owned. I love wearing it for causal day at work and when going out on the town. The style should stay fairly current so I will continue to buy again when this one wears out.

Nice shoe, watch the toes -
I've had these shoes for several weeks, wearing them to work most days but not all. I don't do too much walking.
The leather is a bit stiff at first, it dug in for several days but it's now flexed a bit and fits pretty well.
It feels slightly larger than my old same-sized Rockport loafer-style shoes, but those shoes had softer leather (especially after many years of wearing them); these Red Wing Afton’s have stiffer leather so have more of their own shape.
The central part of the toes are one piece of smooth curved leather, and so are very easily worn and scuffed, it only took me a few days to drag my toe a couple of times or Unconsciously placing the toe on the floor while sitting in a chair, so be aware of that. I haven't tried any shoe polish on that yet.
I like the construction and style.
I got the darker color (no white stripes), and it goes with most pairs of pants I have except light beige.

These shoes are really good looking and incredibly attractive. I have a very (VERY) wide foot, and these fit right out of the box, which never happens. Arch support is excellent. I put in an additional insole, but one is not really needed (I just always wish I was wearing sneakers).

I got tired of buying cheaper department store shoes that would only last a couple of months. I wanted quality shoes. I never thought Red Wings carried these kinds of casual shoes and they are just what Red Wing offers quality, comfort, and a great look.

RW Afton is a decent shoe -
I always will check out RW when I need shoes because I have to have a B width. I got caught on this shoe because my right foot is a good half size longer than my left. The 11s were too big and sloppy in the width. The 10.5s fit my left foot perfectly, but the right has turned out to be just a little too short unfortunately. I'm going to try and have that one stretched and see if I can make it work. That's not RWs fault, of course. Basically, I like the shoes, but haven't had them long enough to know how they're going to hold up.

Excelent Shoe. Good for orthodic on top of insole. Large.
I am pleased with the workmanship of this shoe. The shoe will clearly be faithful for years. I measure the 4E width in comparison to the fit I have with New Balance 800+ Shoes and find this shoe larger than my normal feel. I average in NB every 3 months. With the orthodics this shoe fits properly. I have a strong pronate.

Great casual work shoe -
This shoe looks and feels great. I wear jeans and cargos for work and these look nice without looking too much like a sneaker. The only down fall for me is the large arch support, and as someone with almost no arch this causes some discomfort. With a $6 sole insert they feel great. This took care of the problem and I wear these shoes everyday with comfort and style.

My favorite brand. Red Wings gets it right.
Great shoes. Started wearing Red Wings work boots when I started working construction with my father--said Red Wings were the only boots worth buying and that there wasn't a close second. After getting the Aftons, it's apparent the same quality applies to their casual shoes.
Other brands recommended by reviewer: Propets for athletic wear if you have out-of-the-norm width requirements.

I've had these Red Wing shoes for about a month now and I am really satisfied with them. I have long and narrow (11.5 A) feet and it is nearly impossible to find a shoe that fits. These look good and feel great. The construction is very solid and the finish holds up well. A very nice shoe.
