This is my second pair of these shoes. They are comfortable right out of the box. They fit well and are sturdy, lasting a long time (this is my second pair) with daily use. I have worn them hiking in the woods, scrambling boulders, long treks, and also daily wear. Highly recommend!

I absolutely loved the Merrell Chameleon 2 shoes. The fit, the look, comfort, everything. The new series does not stack up. The heel rubs against your foot until skins hardens in the area. The fabric around the hole your foot slides into is already peeling after two weeks. This is a giant step backwards for Merrell. I do not recommend these shoes. Lets encourage Merrell to make shoes as good as it used to. Are you listening Merrell?

Love the shoe. It's practically indestructible and amazingly comfortable. Also, Bear Grylls wears this shoe! Believe it or not!

Great fit. Super comfortable. These are the fifth pair I've purchased; however, the toes usually split after about 6 months.

Heel ripper. Great comfortable shoe, but only after my heel got rubbed raw after a week of wearing these. Had to trim the heel down to discontinue the rubbing. Only complaint I have.

Turned out to be very comfortable shoes. When I first got them the top of the heel rubbed against the back of my foot a bit too much. I have a fairly straight heel, and the backs of the shoes cut in a bit. After wearing them for a while this problem went away and they are now very comfortable.

The new Chameleon Stretch is different from the last iteration. This is my 5th pair of Chameleons and I love the style, the comfort they offer, as well as the ease of use (no tying shoes). The most notable differences are in the sole and the wraparound heel. The sole is firmer and slightly narrower, with a different tread pattern. I haven't found a difference in comfort resulting from the change, though traction has improved. The heel is another matter entirely. Comparing the new heel to the old one, the support structure is much better than it used to be up the back of the heel. The heel used to be two supports that were set one on top of the other, allowing the heel to distort in between the two. Now there is one piece that runs from the sole up to the top where you see the loop. While the support is excellent, there is now some minor break in before the shoe feels comfortable right at the top of the heel at the very back. Because of the new support, there is a tendency for the top lip to rub where it hits the back of your heel until it stretches out a little (and you get a little callous there). I didn't have much of a problem with it until I drove a stick shift, causing the lip on the left shoe to dig a bit harder. No blisters wearing them out of the box 24-7, but I might avoid too long a hike with them right out of the box. Excellent shoes, I bought 2 pair so I have a replacement as I wear them as my everyday shoes. They typically last me 1-2 years of exclusive wear. Enjoy!

These are great shoes that last a long time. My last pair lasted over two years through a lot of abuse. Highly recommended.

Awesome buy! The new merrell chameleon 3 stretch was on my list of all purpose, all terrain shoes. in got them in basic black, and preferred them over the other chameleon models (with tongues, tie-up laces, and mid-tops). I ordered two sizes just to be sure about the fit, because these merrells weren't your regular tongue-and-lace set up. I ended up choosing the smaller pair, which hugged my foot pretty well, and felt like a natural extension of my foot! They are extremely light, for how solid and thick the bottom is, and fit especially solid around my arch, toes and sole, but they don't provide as much support around, and do tend to rub against, my ankle and heel. I think I've become so used to my other high-top hiking and trail-running shoes, but hope to get more use from these new merrell chameleon 3 stretch shoes!

These shoes have a sock like interior. I don\'t wear socks with mine and found that there is an extended break in period. I have been wearing them to work and can\'t wait to take them off when I get home. They seem to run a little small.\r\nThey are good looking shoes and I think they will be okay after they break in. I would consider when ordering that they run a little on the tight side.

This is the 3rd generation of this shoe that I have owned and I believe that Merrell tends to make some of the most comfortable shoes available. I do like the appearance of this shoe, but I have to give them a low rating on the shoe performance. Previous versions were the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn, hence my decision to buy the new version. However, a design change this year has changed the heel such that the height of the heel and the rigidness of the materials used cause the shoe to have significant wear on the bend of the heel. I have been wearing them for approximately 3 weeks now and there has been no change in this performance factor as the shoe has "worn in." I believe that a balance should be maintained between form and function but I feel that the scales have been tipped towards form with this shoe. The rest of the shoe is a fantastic fit, I just can\'t get used to the constant abrasion on the heel.

These shoes are wicked. They will take whatever you throw at them. I walked all around the Wisconsin State Fair with no pain whatsoever, amazing. Socks or no socks, they are really nice. On trails, you don't feel rocks, etc. like you do in many other shoes. Just great, especially the slip-on/tension cord setup.

The Merrell Stretch 3 is an exceptional shoe. I have a fused ankle and the curved heel on the Chameleon line of shoes helps me to walk with less of a limp. Also these shoes last forever; this is my fourth pair of Merrells and i have yet to wear any of them out. Don't worry about break in time; these shoes are comfortable from day one. I would recommend them to anyone who wants a comfortable everyday shoe.

I was looking for a pair of shoes that I did not have to lace up (slip on), had good arch support and that I could wear with or without socks. \r\n\r\nThese were for my trip to Spain, where it would be hot and I would be doing a lot of walking, both on cement and dirt. I spent days looking at different shoes (and found out there were not that many men\'s shoes that fit my criteria, women seem to have a much wider choice). I already had a pair of Keen sandals, which I love, and are already packed for the trip. I wanted something that was enclosed but was breathable so my feet did not get too hot. I went to a few shoe stores to check my size on Merrills. Some of those stores had the older Chameleon 2. \r\n\r\nI then looked online and found that Zappos has most of the shoes (brands) like Ecco, Keen, etc. that I was looking at. I finally called customer service and talked with a nice young woman, who made some suggestions based on my criteria, and since I had good luck with Merrils in the past, I ordered the Chameleon 3 in black, Size 10. \r\n\r\nZappos was very nice and upgraded my shipping for free, and I got the shoes the next day. I have been wearing them both with and without socks to kind of break them in, but it was only the first day without socks that I needed to do some breaking in. \r\n\r\nI am pretty happy with my choice and thought the Zappos service was great. I would be sure to get shoes from Zappos again, and would recommend this service to my wife and friends. The were fast and knowledgeable and had a broad range of shoes and sizes. My only complaint was I wish they also had the best prices.\r\n\r\nI also am not sure how I feel about Amazon buying them, as I looked for shoes on Amazon also, and decided to buy from Zappos.

Very surprised at how comfy they are. For a guy who lives in wider-than-average-toebox shoes (Crocs, Birkenstocks) and foot-conforming soft-soled moccasins, I was expecting these to be narrow, stiff, and painful. Not so. I sometimes forget I\'m wearing them. That is the best testimonial I can give any shoe.\r\n\r\nAnother reviewer didn\'t like how the insoles were stitched into the shoe...not removable. Perhaps Merrell has made a change between production runs, since mine are removable.\r\n\r\nI have not had any of the previous Chameleon models, so I have nothing to compare these to. My friends who do have these older models rave about the comfort and quality. Took a chance, and I\'m very pleased. I still prefer a true moccasin above all, but these are the next best thing when the weather or terrain doesn\'t cooperate.\r\n

Nice looking shoe, terrible for hiking. I previously had a previous Merrell hiking shoe, and liked it a lot, and have hiked many miles in it. This new model seemed to have a superior design, so I got it. It's the *worst* hiking shoe I've ever had! I wore it around for a few days to break it in and get used to it felt okay. This morning I took a 1 hour hike on an easy/paved trail, and got 2 blisters! (I've done a lot of hiking and skating, and haven't had a blister in recent memory!) Got a blister on my left Achilles tendon, where there's a hard seam under the neoprene. I actually had a bloody sock from this one! The other blister was on my right heel the insoles are stitched (?) into these shoes so they don't slide, and on my right shoe there is a really hard ridge along this seam. This ridge gave me a 1" long x 1/8" wide (long/narrow) blister.
Other brands recommended by reviewer: Some *other* shoe.

 | | Hi, Zappos has been one of my favorite shopping sites for a while, but now my teenage son is a fan. He is 15 and wears a size 15 shoe. It is no easy feat to find a shoe that he will wear that is in his size. Other stores carry the skate brands, but stop at a size 13. I suggested he look on your site and he found several styles he would wear in size 15. We placed the order for a pair of Vans and 20 minutes later, I got a confirmation that they were shipped. We received them the next day and he went off to school today in his new shoes. Thank you!!! You made back to school shopping MUCH easier this year! Diane | | ~ Diane, August 29 2009
