These are the best walking shoes period. I was wearing MBTs due to a toe problem, but after a few months, I began to get knee pain. I went back to my Mephisto Match and the pain went away, these are the best most comfortable. You can even get away with the black ones as dress shoes.

Great shoe - My husband uses these for golf shoes. He says they give him better support than any golf shoe and the sole has enough traction. He loves them.

This is the best shoe I ever owned. I was just on my feet for 16 hours straight and my feet didn't know it. Worth every penny.

I bought this shoe to take the place of a Mephisto I really liked and had worn out. (I am getting them refurbed.) The new shoe is comfortable and I am taking it on a trip as a walking shoe. The only change I would make in it is for it to be two tone rather than solid grey.

The Best of the Best -
I have worn many upscale shoes by Ralph Lauren Polo, Dr. Marten, Finn Comfort, Birkenstock, and others. This shoe is undoubtedly the best shoe I have ever worn. I plan to purchase several pairs of Mephisto shoes for future endeavors.

A most perfect shoe!
These are lightweight, soft, gentle, yet with very strong leather. The soles are perfect shock absorbers so that the comfort is everything people read about here. My favorite is the Mephisto Allrounder Como (which may not be made any longer) and then the Abel. With Mephisto, you can never have just one! I use this with more casual dress, but also for longer distant walking, as it is lighter than the Abel. Many describe this as Mephisto's finest comfort shoe. Although I am a fan of many, including the Battler, the reviewers may be correct: an incredibly comfortable shoe to be worn all day with relief for your feet, legs, lower back and neck. Some claim to have headaches reduced by the Mephisto support system for the feet. These are the world's finest shoes; old time quality with modern technology advances in comfort. These are not the cheap throw-aways. The insoles alone cost more than the junkie less expensive shoes. You get what you pay for. Immediate comfort. No breaking in period. Check out Mephisto socks as well...even better than Smartwool!

A site for sore feet -
Recently I've come down with a heel concern on my left foot, standing at least 5-7 hrs on my feet a day, I began looking for a causal/good looking shoe for work, I heard so much about Mephisto, quality-comfort, at first I was a little skeptical about the price, but just like anything you get what you pay for. Well let's say it was the best investment I've made this year & look forward to purchasing other styles as well. A personal "Thank You" to Zappos, very much impressed with their prompt service.

My favorite shoe!
I have been trying many shoes lately due to foot problems. So far this is the most comfortable, most supportive one I have tried for my wide feet. It takes my Barefoot Science orthotics well with better results than any other shoe I have tried them in - noticeably improves my posture as well as improving comfort. I also tried the Mephisto Storm, but returned them because the fit and comfort was not as good for my feet as the Mephisto Match. I now have two pair of the Match. Zappos service - both in getting them to me and in handling the return - was excellent. I'll be buying more shoes from Zappos in the future.

Thanks to Zappos for the platform to share personal preferences about shoes. If it were rated for quality alone, this shoe would be superlative with few to "Match." Leather, eyelets, even the shoe strings are simply the best of materials. But, like another reviewer, I found the shoe length long; the width overcompensated for my rather narrow foot, the shoe weight excessive and anything but ergo-dynamic. Perhaps suitable for long touring walks, but not for my rather quick-footed gait.
An excellent choice for me has been the Ecco Cross.

I wear this model 3 out of 4 days. It is very comfortable, has great support, and I can wear them all day and not have sore feet. This is my favorite shoe.

These shoes are awesome! Easily the best shoes I have ever worn. They are made very well with high quality materials; your feet feel like they are massaged as you walk in them. They are also quite durable. I have been using mine pretty much daily and taken them through 13 countries over the past 7 years. They have been resoled once and re-stitched in the front instep area. One minor flaw to them is the single stitching on the top front on the pair that I own. I noticed that mephisto addressed this as the new pairs of match have double stitching. So, this should no longer be an issue. The style is a little on the "homey" side but overall they are great shoes.

Terrific looks, so-so comfort -
This shoe has nice looks if you like a rustic style, but it's over hyped. Too long, too wide. The real catoutchouc (fancy Mephisto name for their PU sole) layer is barley 1/8" thick, so the sole wears out fast. After the PU layer is gone, the rest of the sole is soft rubber that evaporates fast. Needlessly heavy. There are some people that like Mephisto, and will go to any end to justify how wonderful this shoe is, but objectively speaking, it's a mediocre shoe overall. Try Ecco or Born casual shoes, then you will know the difference.

Mephisto Makes It Good -
Hey, I've got flat feet! Owwww! The pain of it! Then I discovered orthotics, and shortly after that Mephisto! And there is life after high heels. And what's more, comfort! Truth is you don't wear these shoes if you want to look sleek, because they are what they appear to be: Tough, solid, supportive and comfortable. I bought five pairs and a couple for mom as well. Relax into bliss!

Light -
Extremely comfortable, very light shoes. They fit the 1st time- no breaking in. You don't feel the weight which enhances the feeling of being in control of your feet. They are arched a little funny- too much?- for my feet on the inside. This is my second pair and they go well with jeans or dress pants. I own other Mephisto products. They are all heads and shoulders above all brands at any price. I wish there were more colors and textures to choose from. Well nigh the ideal all purpose shoes. Now Mephisto needs to make cowboy boots with the same intelligence.

Good but over hyped -
For all its hype and the big price tag, and despite the excellence of its overall construction, this shoe has some big flaws. Unlike other Mephisto shoes like the Marlon or Melchior that have a thick layer of their material, the Match and Runoff shoes have a very thin layer, just about 1/8" thick. Between this thin layer and the welt of shoe, the material is softer cushioning stuff, so after the thin outer layer wears out, it's over - you will run through the cushion material very quickly, so you would need to get the shoe resoled. Also, the shoe is needlessly heavy - the Ecco Track boots are much lighter and easier on the feet. The shoe is too wide for a USA "medium" size, so even with thick socks, it feels like I'm wearing a couple of footballs around my feet, rather than form-fitting shoes that wrap around my feet nicely. As a result, I need to tie the laces uncomfortably tightly for the shoes to stay put. Although not stiff, the shoe is heavily padded and lined, so it has thick walls. The standard cotton laces it comes with are too thin, so you're better off replacing them with heavier laces. Excellent arch support and superb quality of construction, but some big drawbacks. Almost there, but not quite.

Comfortable walking shoe -
I have been wearing this particular shoe for about ten years now. Before these, I wore the Rockport Pro Walker. These are a much better shoe, but twice the price.

Love these shoes!
I've had 5 pairs of the Mephisto Match. 5 different colors over the past 15 years. These are as comfortable as any shoe I have ever worn. My Ferragamos are uncomfortable compared to the Match. These are shoes that you don't need to take off when you get home.

Nobody does it better; makes me feel sad for the rest-
I have worn Mephisto’s for over five years and "nobody does it better"! Price seems high, but you get three times more wear and comfort. They are made to wear on the big side, so don't have your toes pressed up front. OK, I used to sell shoes and Mephisto was my favorite.

The real thing for the hotfooted -
OK so the only problem with these babies is having to lace them up yourself when you get them home! When you put Matches on that's it! I have just worn them for an entire 13 hour day, mostly standing or walking and they just massage the bottom of your feet as you walk (if you like that). This is my 4th or 5th pair of the same model (I try to use the black & brown on alternate days) but other colors are available. One additional note my family inheritance included WIDE FEET and if these were wider out of the box you would not get the prolonged and fantastic comfortable fit for years if used properly, so that's Match. Even for wide loads. Get it? Got it? Good.

Great shoe, but now that I've worn out the soles, I find that they cannot be replaced. It's a shame to have to retire this great shoe before its time.

 |  | Didn’t know where to send a note to the full staff so I’m putting it here. I haven’t shopped Zappos for a few years (how many Birkies can one gal wear at a time)! I’ve hunted and hunted for boots. Not much call for tall boots in the Phoenix area, but the styles changed this year so I wanted to get with it. I hate going to stores so I tried the internet, thought I found gold, but ended up returning because they were too loose or too tall or too short. The light bulb went off and I came back to Zappos and they had calf and height measurements listed - what a brilliant idea!!! I found black suede and grey leather and I had them at my front door a day later! How much better could it get: both pairs fit!!! Please post this for all employees so they can know their efforts are very much appreciated... you all could teach the rest of the corporate world how it should be done.
