Order a size up!
I wear a size 8.5 and needed the size 40! Once I figured out the sizing, I was very pleased with this shoe. It does run on the narrow side, if my feet were any wider it would not work, but they fit. I typically wear sneakers with a very chunky orthotic; this is a nice and comfortable sandal vacation for my feet.

LOVE THEM!
I have been walking around with Plantar Fasciitis for 11 months now; in addition I have a very high arch, am a runner and have a slim foot. Nothing in the shoe world feels good, except these. I will slowly add more to my wardrobe, I absolutely love them. A great shoe AND they are very cute. I hope they will always be available. :-) My feet don’t hurt anymore-yippee!

The best comfort shoe. Great arch support which was very important to me. I have tried Birkenstock and Ecco -no arch at all. Also this shoe fits a narrow foot quite nicely, unlike Birkenstock which is wide. I am switching all of my shoes to Mephisto because of the great arch support.

Mephisto Helen, great shoe, size change?
I have worn this style shoe for several years, and I have three pair size 38. With my most recent purchase, size 38 was shorter than the shoes I already have. Had to reorder size 39. Helen is a narrow shoe which happens to suit my foot. I love this shoe. I just hope the sizes will stay stable.

It’s my favorite sandal. Extremely comfortable. It does take a bit of breaking in. But once it’s done, you won't believe how great they feel. I have them in about 5 colors.

When I ordered this shoe, it was suggested to order a size larger. I am usually a 39 but ordered the 40. I did not need the 40 in the length, but it was narrow and especially did not fit my left foot which is wider than my right due to past fracture. The right was more comfortable but even that did not feel right, partly due to the combination of the straps.

WARNING: Changed buckles that break!
Just got a pair to replace 8-yr old Helens I've worn (and loved) to death.
The buckle BROKE OFF the 1st time I put the shoes on & was re-buckling the 1st strap on my right foot.
My old buckle was metal. Never failed.
New buckle = CHEAP PLASTIC.
I'm crushed. BEWARE.
P.S. I'm a wimpy couch-potato 125lb gal who doesn't lift weights...

Very comfortable shoe. I am a size 8 1/2 or 9, so I ordered 39 and 40. I settled on the 39, but it is perfect when my feet are resting in the footbed but are a tad short in the toes when walking. Size 40 seemed too big.

This is an awesome shoe. I have a heel spur and I can’t even feel it with this shoe. It's too cute also.

These are really nice sandals. They have a great arch and are very comfortable. The only trouble I had was getting a blister once last fall after walking around in them for a while, but it hasn't happened since. These sandals are both cute and unique! You can basically wear them anywhere from dinner to a daytrip. I recommend them as a high-quality, universal sandal.

Fantastic!
These are my favorite sandals. They have great arch support. I can wear them all day anywhere. My feet never hurt. They also help me keep my back aligned. I wouldn't trade them for anything.

Not as comfortable as I hoped -
I love the look of this sandal. The comfort was another story. The area where your big toe goes cut into the skin after only a few minutes. I think they would soften up, but I need to wear them now for vacation. The smooth leather looked like it would scratch easily. I will be returning these for a different pair. The sizing was as was described--need to size up. Thanks Zappos for your quick service, as always.!

So comfortable it's my third pair -
Very comfortable and good arch support, I have had problems with my feet with so much walking in NYC. These are as comfortable as tennis shoes but have more style.

A friend recommended the Mephistos Helen's to me recently when we were planning a vacation with lots of walking involved. I took her advice and this ended up being the only pair of shoes I wore during the entire vacation!

Favorite shoe ever!
I bought these shoes because they had been recommended to me by a friend. I wear them almost everyday and could not ask for a more comfortable shoe! I have traveled in them, walked miles in them, and have been in all kinds of weather in them and they are still in great condition! When they eventually wear down, I will most definitely buy them again!

A real fan!
This is my 5th pair of Mephistos Helen. They will replace the pair I ruined walking all over Italy last summer. I've been living in this shoe for years because of its comfort and still get compliments on its good looks.

I had this shoe in 4 colors; went to the shoestore to get it in red, and was told they are no longer available; went to Mephisto on line and was told the same thing...went to Zappos and they had 3 pair left...so I got my red!

Best Sandal Ever -
The Mephisto Helen is the best shoe or sandal I have ever worn. I have very wide feet with a very high arches, so finding a sandal that is comfortable AND supportive while looking great has been a godsend. I also have arthritis in my feet-these sandals make it possible to look stylish and not hurt. In November I broke my left foot and now have a 2" screw in my foot-I can still wear these since they adjust. I have 15+ pairs of these Helen sandals-every color I can get. In November, Mephistos resoling company totally re-did 3 of my oldest pairs. I can put these next to my new ones and I cannot tell the difference. Try them.

My fourth pair...
My first pair of Helen's I bought maybe 7 or 8 years ago. They are a wonderful fit with just the right support for my foot. I could walk in them all day and still be comfortable. I still have all of my "Helen's", when it is warm, I put them on the first thing in the morning as slippers and keep them as long as appropriate. I did buy a size larger than my others. I could wear the same size but the next size up was more comfortable. I find the nubuck to be more comfortable. They last for years... A good value!
