My new travel shoe: NB MT875. I am not a trail runner, but started wearing trail running shoes as versatile, rugged yet comfortable travel shoe. I will be bringing the NB MT875 on my upcoming trip back to Borneo. In person, they are very much mostly grey (charcoal) in color with only hints of black and a deep, rusty orange. The lighter grey piping/strip which curves from the toe area up through the lace area is actually a shiny, plastic-like fabric. The meshy area almost serves as the "shell" to the underlying fabric "liner." Although listed as a running shoe, I found that I could wear a smaller size in the MT875 than I do in most running shoes. They have more of a X-trainer toe-box. I held a size 14 4E up to a pair of size 15 Columbia trail runners and the NB were actually larger! They still have to be tested in the field, but I like what I've seen so far and they have all of the attributes which will make them a great travel shoe.

I bought these shoes for my husband who needs to change all his shoes every 6 months because he is a personal trainer and on his feet all day. According to him, this pair is very comfortable; he has very narrow feet so the New Balance usually meets his needs. But I think (from female point of view) the best thing about these shoes is very nice looking!

Got these shoes because I run on park paths a lot. They also do fine on treadmills though. More cushion than my 805s and more direction control (and cushion) than my 902s and 903s. My favorite NB runners so far. I haven't run any races in them, but have done 10K comfortably. My best NB runners yet.

Not durable enough. I bought these 3 months ago and they're completely shot now. The soles are worn down and starting to crack in places. It should be noted that I run 5 days a week on some pretty rugged trails (in central Texas, so I'm sure the heat's not helping). They're probably okay for more casual runners or hikers, maybe running on soft dirt or crushed granite type trails, but for serious trail running, they don't hold up.

Zappos rocks! I have a friend who for some reason was at a Zappos' event and while there tweeted for friends to call in and get a free pair of shoes. I called, I got in, and now have a free pair of shoes! Woo Hoo! Now, since this is the first time I have ordered shoes online, and never had a pair of New Balance before, it took three tries to get a pair that fit. And Customer service was exceptional in allowing and helping me return my shoes! I was a little skeptical, thinking they would, no way put up with retuning shoes two times, but was delighted that they did, and that their attitude during the whole process was stellar! Thanks Zappos! Anyway, about the shoes - These are nice shoes, very comfortable. They are more of a trail runner/hiking shoe then a true running shoe. I am impressed still in their comfort even though I am running through the streets in them. Not a whole lot of miles logged yet, but so far so good on the quality of the shoe. Again, thanks Zappos.

I ordered the New Balance MT875 for my husband and he loves the shoes. Not only are the shoes stylish, but also comfortable. Because he needs a size 7 with double wide, it is very difficult for him to get shoes at any shoe store. I have been getting shoes for him from Zappos in the last couple years. Zappos' service is excellent!

Best mountain running shoe out there - First off, if this is your first time ordering from Zappos, you will not find a better place to buy shoes! With mountain running your descent can be up to a half hour long and if you have a shoe that allows your foot to slide forward it will mash your toes into a bloody pulp. New Balance's 767's are the best road running shoes they make. They fit perfectly, but have zero traction. I called Zappos and asked for a shoe that fits like the 767, but with great traction and this is the shoe. It feels a little tight on the width, but it's still true to its size. It just has an extra grip on your foot which is needed on extreme terrain. The traction is amazing on loose dirt and mud, but the big treads do slip a little on wet rock. The shock absorption is great with down hill runs and it's a very sturdy and rugged shoe. Also when they get wet they dry out fast. If you run on really rough terrain, this is the best shoe to get.

I purchased these shoes for a trip I was taking to Europe. Knowing there would be a lot of walking and possibly some trail hiking I wanted a more rugged shoe. \r\n\r\nThese shoes lived up to my needs and expectations. They performed wonderfully walking the streets of Dublin and hiking the hills of Dingle. For 10 days I wore these and not once were my feet uncomfortable.

These shoes are fantastic. I am using them primarily for training for a half-marathon, probably 80% on road, and 20% off, but they feel fantastic on both. I would definitely buy them again.

Great Shoe.
This is a great trail shoe, or for use on gravel roads and uneven surfaces. I have used several variants of this shoe and all have performed well.

After wearing these trail shoes every day since I got them, here are the disappointing results. The insoles squeak, both shoes, every step. There is no tongue loop for the laces to keep the tongue in place. Tiny pieces of dirt & pebbles got between the two wide a screen used for the outer mesh and the shoe lining on the outside edges, making it painful to walk and difficult to remove the stuff after using the shoes for less than an hour. After comparing this to all the Nike's purchased in 13D that did fit, I now have to rate this narrow than expected for a 4E. The shoes have excellent traction and look great and will be a great shoe for someone else. I ordered a second pair of Nike Vomero 4's instead.

Chosen after a review on Runner's World.com -
The ONLY shoes that have fit me right out of the box and not caused any problems the past 40 years have been the size 13D Nike Air Zoom Steens and the Nike Shox Junga. Both are now obsolete. Those were the only shoes I have worn the past 6+ years.
I purchased quite a few different shoes the past couple of months, and really wanted these NB for romping through the woods with the dog as we are both in need of dropping a few pounds!
I also tried the NB 993 in 12 4E, which was THE best looking shoe of all I tried and a perfect fit, but it just hurt my feet and I could not find any answer to solve the problem. No specific hot spots, nothing to explain why that was. Hated to return them.
My feet are about 4.5" wide in the front, which is extreme, plus I've had L5-S1 and cancer surgery, peripheral neuropathy, sciatic pain in both legs, Raynard's and Rouleax's blood disorder. My feet hurt terribly all the time. I am 6', 205lbs and 52.
I found these shoes had way too much head room for a wide but not thick foot. I added a Dr. Scholl's Back Pain Relief orthodic. This seems to have done the job nicely. The only issue I have is the mesh seems to allow small debris and pebbles inside the shoe, which I have not had any issue with on the old Nike trail and running shoes.
This shoe is extremely supportive, rugged and looks great!
I only rated this a 3 due to my foot pain making it difficult to offer more under the conditions. They also squeak a bit. Not sure if that is due to using two insoles.
The Nike Vomero is a 5 in comfort comparison, but not nearly as stiff as the 875, which would be more desirable for trail use. I had tried another style NB 12 4E in the running store before ordering these, and the fit for me was terrible in comparison.
Runner's World rated this as one of the most improved shoes for 09 and supposedly great for off road traction in all conditions, which is what I wanted.
The BEST shoe of the many I have tried which will be my street and every day use shoe is the Nike Vomero 4. This had the best fit of them all, no hot spots, no insoles needed and feel excellent.
I have ordered so many shoes from Zappos and had not kept even one pair of shoes, until this order. I Fed Ex'd the last order back at my expense. Can't say enough about the quality of service and value dealing with Zappos!
It is the ONLY company I have found where I can buy $1200 in shoes in one billing cycle, return the products and still have my refund provided before the credit card payment is due.
