I've always loved Converse so when I saw this shoe I thought it looked interesting and something different from Chuck Ts and Jack Purcells, etc. I've never owned a pair of John Varvatos line and hesitated at first when I saw the price. I took a chance and ordered them and have been wearing them for about 3 weeks. First initial reactions were that they felt very good on my feet, but just like Chuck Ts it's probably not a good idea to wear when walking long distances. I definitely think insoles are a must. Before I put them in, my ankles were hurting after a long day at the zoo. Only been walking with insoles for a few days; hopefully things will go better. The charcoal is more like a dark brown. When I think charcoal I imagine a very dark gray/black. The back Converse rubber thing is peeling off a bit too just like how Chuck Ts do. Some shoe goo would help, but I don't think I should be shoe gooing a shoe that costs this much. Overall I don't think this shoe is worth the money, but I'll still wear it as long as I can and get my money's worth, if that makes any sense.
