It's hard to tell when a 2-year-old likes or does not like shoes, words like "feels a little tight in the toe, but slips at the heel" do not come out of my son's mouth at this age. But he wears these Kobos where he was unable to keep other flip-flop type sandals without back straps on his feet. The soles seem a little thinner and harder than on an average flip flop, but the entire sandal is sturdy and they do stay on. (A child that small is not bothered by the hardness of a sole, either. My son is barely out of slipper socks and goes barefoot around the house.) The back strap is elasticized yet still soft enough not to rub. All in all, it is a good high-summertime very casual sandal.
