La Sportiva makes the best footwear I know of for hardcore backcountry travel, especially if you have narrow / low volume feet. These FC 1.1's are definitely not in that category, but they are great for the street or ultra light day hikes. They are supposed to be very light, and they are, made of light weight materials. La Sportiva does the best at fitting my horrible to fit feet. I have a size 11 (44.5) narrow, low volume, and flat. I wish they had a little deeper heel well to accommodate my custom orthotic inserts a little better, but that's not a defect of design for people with a normal arch. Great shoes for the money.
Other brands recommended by reviewer: If you have narrow feet, have boots custom made or buy La Sportiva.

Quality shoe, but no forefoot cushion -
These are great shoes except for one fatal flaw: there is absolutely no cushioning in the forefoot. The heel has a nice, stable cushion and the tread is probably great for just about anything. The upper is very well made and supportive, but not too stiff for active mobility. But the forefoot!! You are basically walking on the thin, rubber outsole, no padding at all. Other than that, these would be my all time favorite multi-sport shoes. But since I don't want to bruise the heck out of my feet, I'm afraid they're probably going back.
