First let me say I am rough on shoes. I have only owned my Patty G\'s for one month, but so far I love them. \r\n\r\nI was a little concerned when ordering originally because my foot is slightly wider than a D. I typically buy shoes with an E width. These didn\'t come in an E width, but I liked the other reviews and the style of the shoe (and Zappos free return policy) to I took a chance. They almost felt custom made for me putting them on the first time. \r\n\r\nI work outside in the landscape industry and for me the positives are; REALLY lightweight; the mesh makes them really breathable so they dry out fast; so far they are holding up great.

I\'m giving this shoe 3 stars instead of 0 because the soles are absolutely fantastic. That said, the uppers are terrible. I\'m surprised no one else has noticed that the leather uppers bite into your toes with every step. Maybe they just have tougher toes.\r\n

This is the best pair of shoes I have bought in my life. I have a very hard time finding shoes that fit well since I usually take a 14. My foot is long, but very narrow so I slip out of the heel and the sides of my feet get sore. Not with this pair! Thanks Zappos!

This is a terrific shoe. I am on my feet all day and walk, stumble and otherwise traverse through additional miles of mixed terrain at every opportunity. Normally I wear wide DD, but this shoe has a comfortable toe box even with sox in my normal size. The platform is extremely stable, yet the upper is soft/flexible yet supportive. It also breathes well. I have yet to encounter performance in the wet and the DWR treatment. The sole has good feel and grip. I remain cautious on wet rock even though Patagonia claims traction design with embedded hard plastic spikes. They can turn to Teflon when you're not paying attention. Better still, ZAPPOS had exactly what I wanted when the Patagonia dealers had sold out of my size and stalled on reordering until they could acquire a minimum. Also, I saved about 15% from retail. A win win situation. Best is I had them right away when I was ready to go in my new Patty G's!

I purchased the Patagonia Release trail shoes based on the reputation of the company. I have not been disappointed. So far I've gone on 3 long (26+) trail runs on varied terrain with no complaints from my feet or legs. I have to wear thick socks because they are not available in a size 12 1/2, and lace them tight. I get good traction with them even when soggy wet and caked with mud. I'll have to see how they hold up. From my experience so far I would buy them again.

True to size, good room in the toe box, perfect stiffness, excellent outsole, seems to be durable and well constructed. I hike/run in the Colorado Mountains several thousand miles a year and typically go through 2-3 pairs of trail runners per season. For my feet (wide forefoot, normal to narrow otherwise) these may be the best shoes I have found yet.
