After reading discouraging reviews, I admit that I actually enjoy this boot very much! I saw these in a department store and bought them on site. I own several pairs of Taryn Rose and Taryn shoes and this style is actually true to size. Sure it's not nappa leather which would warrant the price of a $600+ Taryn Rose boot, but the leather is very lustrous, sturdy and high quality, not pleathery looking as picture may suggest. I use Woodlore cedar boot trees so these boots will maintain their shape and highly recommend using them to keep your shoes fresh and free of wrinkles. About calf fit: I don't exactly have skinny calves at 14", but after first pulling the elastic tighter to bring the zipper teeth together before pulling the zipper up, these were able to fit my calves snugly. The only thing is that this style bags slightly at the ankle which I fixed by using a heel lift and/or socks, though I could see how this might be offputting to some. The soles have built-in tread for grip and comfort, which is very important as I walk many blocks during my daily subway commute and all throughout Manhattan streets in all kinds of weather. Whenever I wear these boots, usually worn with skinny jeans or with a skirt and tights to work, I feel pulled together and usually get many looks or compliments from (mostly) men and women. Overall, I am happy with this purchase and these boots will hold up over time with the proper care.

I ordered these on Monday and they arrived on Wednesday (love Zappos!). However, the quality did not appear the normal "Taryn Rose" quality and I thought these were tight in the calf, despite the elastic. I also thought the elastic would wear out over time. All in all, I'm returning these as I don't think the quality is in line with the price. I like the real Taryn Rose shoes, not Taryn, by Taryn Rose.
