I have worn Dr. Martens for years, and unfortunately it\'s time to move on. The quality just isn\'t there anymore since the production has shifted to China. The sole separated on this pair within only a few weeks of wear. I bought the Perry model last year, and the sole literally rotted away in less than a year. While my old made in England Dr. Martens just seem to last forever.

Overall these shoes do not live up to the Doc Marten image. While they look nice at first, I am starting to regret buying them. They are a poor quality imitation of the real deal. First the leather quality is clearly cheap. Since I bought them the leather has stretched significantly, making the shoe uncomfortable to wear. 2nd the construction is also sub par. The sole looks deformed because it was unevenly cut around the edge. On top of that, the stitching is starting to come undone after just 2 months. The sole is also much harder than the original, and does not wear as well. I barely wear them any more because they actually hurt my feet when walking or standing for periods of time. Personally I would never buy another Doc Marten shoe.

These shoes are awesome, I stand on my feet for 8 hours at a time and it takes about a year and a half for them to break down. I work in a casino behind the tables and stand in the same spot all night. I used to wear sneakers but had to replace them every 8 weeks or so. Now I only wear DOCS!

Love these shoes! Helpful hint: go for a smaller size than you might expect. I have owned a similar pair of Dr. Martens in brown for 15 years, and they just don't wear out, stop looking good, or cease to be comfortable. So I decided to buy a pair in black. Since the style is only available in whole sizes, and I wear an 8 1/2, I wasn't sure which size to buy. The size on my old pair has rubbed away, but even though I usually size up to a 9 in such situations, I chose the 8, since I bought my old pair before my feet had "spread," and the old pair fits so well. I knew I could make the gamble, thanks to Zappos' return policy. I didn't need to take advantage of that return policy because the 8s fit perfectly. I should say the leather is a wee bit stiff at the heel and rubs the tiniest bit, but I have confidence the shoes will break in handsomely and will make me happy for a couple of decades.

This was my first pair of made in China Dr. Martens and I do not think I will be purchasing Dr. Martens any more. I owned a made in England pair of the same shoes and absolutely loved them. They fit like a glove. These new ones are not that great. I bought the same size as last time and they are much looser fitting. The laces come all the way together before the shoe is snug to my feet and therefore can not be tightened any further. They still have a nice feeling sole but thats about it. We\'ll have to see how long they hold up.\r\n\r\nFinally, I was quite disappointed to find out with this purchase that Zappos no longer provides free overnight shipping. This was one of the main reasons I shopped at Zappos. I don\'t see any real reason to shop at Zappos as their prices are basically full retail and shipping took a week to get them to me.

This is a great shoe especially if you stand a lot. I bought these for a new job where I am on my feet for 10-12 hours a day. There was no break in required and the comfort is unbeatable. Great product and Zappos was excellent as always.

This is my second pair of Dr. Martens model 8053. They are great shoes. I finally wore out the suspension on the first pair after 8 years, but they still look great.

Great shoe - I received these shoes today and when I tried them on, they fit like a glove (on my feet, of course). As great as they feel now, I can't wait until they are "broken in"! Additionally, I received an email from Zappos on Sunday stating that my shoes would ship on Monday with upgraded shipping. I don't know how they did it, but I received my shoes Monday afternoon. Zappos is great! I won't buy shoes anywhere else.

Dr. Martens are the only shoe I will buy for work, I've had many over the years. These are among the most comfortable I've had. They didn't require much break in and I found them to not need an additional arch support which I usually get for Doc's. The only thing is that they really stretched after a few days. I wish I would have gotten a size smaller now. Not a huge deal...just wish they came in 1/2 sizes too.

Very comfortable and cute shoe! I attend an all girl’s school where we are required to wear black closed toe footwear with our uniforms. I wanted something a little more durable than a loafer or a heel but yet something that could keep my feet comfortable all day. And these shoes provide all that. Plus the fact they are Dr. Martens, they should last a long time.

Dr Marten's 8053 - A Great Shoe!
I think I bought my first pair of Doc Martens 20 years ago. Since they are so well built, this is only my 3rd pair in this style and color. They are a comfortable, very well made shoe that looks great with jeans and other casual wear. I'm female and often have a hard time finding comfortable shoes and these are definitely in my top three list for style, comfort, and durability.

Exactly what I thought I was getting -
My husband had an old pair that these were replacing. It was very easy to find the item and the look, fit & feel were exactly like the old pair! Arrived the next day!!!

They even outlast a 12 year old boy!
Our 12 year old son asked for Dr. Martens last year and when we saw the price we thought they were a bit expensive. However, we purchased a pair and were very happy. They are high quality, comfortable shoes that took a beating from our son and still looked good. We will continue to purchase Dr. Martens for our other children.

Good but not the same -
This is a good shoe but the quality isn't there from a few years ago. The Chinese production shoes just don't compare to the older English ones. You'll get about two years with these shoes (wearing them hard every day) before they start to rip up.

Not as good as older models -
This is my second pair of Dr Martens. I have been wearing the first pair for 8 years and they are still going strong. This pair (the 2nd pair) lacks the same solid construction that the older shoes had. In only 2-3 years I have worn the heal through to the inner spacers and air pockets. Granted I wear the shoes to work almost every day and spend most of the day on my feet. But I gave the same treatment to my older pair and they have held up much better. For those of you who have Dr Martens that were made in England, before they moved to Chinese production, do not expect the same quality from these new shoes. The leather upper is great, but they changed the sole construction, no doubt, to use less material. This new sole is not as good, and wears out faster. I still recommend these shoes, but beware that they probably will not last for 8-10 years like the older designs did.

My son reluctantly bought these to wear to places when basketball shoes are not appropriate but now loves them. He wore them all day on the first day without any problems.

8053 shoe -
Great fitting shoe felt as if it was already worn in. Not much of a cleat sole which I like and very not slip. Probably the best fitting shoe I have purchased in a very long time. Outdoors style casual shoe. Winter here now and the shoe is holding up well.

Solid Shoe -
Might take a little while to break the shoe in but the construction is great. A tad longer than I had expected and feels a little big on the foot when you are breaking it in but overall a great looking and comfortable shoe.

Sweet!
Shoes are great, broke in easily. As with all Doc's, the break-in period is a little painful, but once that's done the shoes are fantastic.

 |  | I have never been a big online shopper until I recently found myself with little time to go out and shop. I was browsing around for some boots online one day and after noticing my boss frequently getting Zappos packages, I decided to check you out. I found some great boots but they were a tad too small when I got them yesterday. I was bummed thinking I'd have to wait several more days to get my boots but I ordered the next size up last night at 10:00. I woke up to an email this morning saying my shipping was upgraded to priority shipping free of charge and would ship out TODAY?! Not even twelve hours after I placed my order! I hardly had time to get the tape on the box to return the first pair of boots and my new ones should be on my front porch when I get home (I tracked them and they are out for delivery!)
