My first pair of New Balance hiking shoes, 746BR, are so comfortable I decided to get these waterproof ones. These 955GT\\\'s, same size and width, do not compare comfortwise. The heelbox and achilles notch do not hold my heels well in the shoe, causing heel slipping. The top opening foot entry area is noticeably wider than my first pair. There are only five shoelace holes versus six on my 746\'s. The heel box needs to be deeper, or the heel back-achilles notch area needs to be higher; the foot entry area needs to be smaller, and six lace holes might provide a more secure fit. Also, there is no arch support. Unfortunately I had to wear them to discover the ill fit, and I can\'t return them now.

Shoes are very comfortable, fit true to size, and were what I was hoping for: good, rugged, waterproof hiking/traveling shoes.

Recently had a knee replacement and was having difficulty finding a shoe that offered good support and provided more "balance" than the shoes I have had. The New Balance WW955 seems to be the answer. Shortly prior to that, I had a pair of athletic shoes that had a lot of mesh on the uppers. I have a supination problem, and the mesh shoes simply didn't give me the support that this new (without mesh) shoe does. I had picked out a possible 5 pair of shoes, used the customer service for assistance, and she was as helpful as though I was sitting in a shoe store trying on shoes. Thanks, Zappos, for the good service.

I usually don\'t wear anything but a running-type shoe, both for work and play, because of a painful foot: bunion, hammer toe, neuroma. But I work around water and chlorine bleach in a kennel environment, so I\'ve been trying for years to find a good waterproof, comfortable shoe. Love all New Balance, but something in my own chemistry or my environment makes NB Goretex trailrunners smell like a cat litter box. Tried the WW955 hoping they\'ve used a different glue, or whatever, on a hard shoe, maybe I won\'t have that annoying reaction to this shoe! Too soon to tell, but they feel great. I wish there was one more lace-hole to pull up the heel a bit, but the forefoot is nice and wide, and that\'s what counts for me. Not as chunky as a hiker, but sturdy enough for work, and they really are waterproof.

My problem with this shoe is that it buckled slightly across the forefoot top just below the end of the laces area. This happened right away when I first tried it on. Had to return it because I knew it would only be getting worse.

I really love this shoe. I ordered my normal size and it fit perfectly. (I have other New Balance shoes and have always found them true to size). It took a day or two to get used to these and the sole is a bit thicker than my other shoes, but find them extremely comfortable. They are meeting expectations in terms of keeping my feet dry in very wet grass. I love the style and think they go well at work and play. The brown color does not show the dirt.

The sneakers are true to size and require no breaking in. They are very comfortable and a great walking sneaker.

Almost but not quite; I have giant feet (12W) and these actually fit. It was nice to be able to wear girls shoes in an athletic shoe for once! However, they slipped terribly in the heel and they aggravated my plantar fasciitis.

I am very pleased with my shoes. Nice to walk through the grass with dry feet! The fit is comfortable with nice wide toe box. I think they will be great for winter walking, too.

The New Balance 955 has worked out to be a good general hiking shoe with excellent support for those uneven trails. I wanted a shoe that offered stability and comfort and this NB WW955 filled the order in fine style. Oh yes, can't forget about the folks at Zappos...You deserve kudos for providing the fastest shipping service in the industry and for offering great shoe selections! Finally found my hiking boots -
I need a wide toebox - I have foot "issues". I wear orthotics but like to walk for miles. This boot is well made - smooth inside, good looking, great color, did not need to be broken in, and watherproof. My only complaint is that it will be kind of warm for summer hiking. I bought and returned many pairs before finding these - they are perfect!

Simply the Best -
This is by far the best walking shoe by New Balance I have purchased. It has style, and comfort, and my feet don't get so tired. It also accommodates my custom orthotics very well. If New Balance would make this shoe in black as well, I would buy in a heart beat.

Was very disappointed in this shoe. I thought for the price and high numbered series that it would be better than the 800 series... Not true. It is very stiff and not near as comfortable... It has my feet burning again... I will be going back to the 800 series. A lot of money wasted...

Very disappointed -
This shoe looks great and my other 843 and 844 NB shoes brought my feet back from the dead... but these are awful, my feet started hurting again so I don't wear them... Expensive boo boo...

Best waterproof shoes I've ever had -
I've tried several shoes to avoid wet toes walking my dogs through wet grass. These shoes fit the bill!
