These boots looked perfect online, but in person they look pretty chunky. I'm looking for a comfortable black boot to wear with skirts and dresses, so I want it fairly snug on my leg. The shaft fit nicely on my somewhat muscular calf, but it was way too loose in the ankle area, and stiff too. The toe is rounder and bigger in person, making it look too chunky. This boot feels way better than the Born and Clarks boots I tried on, and the calf is more snug, but they are not quite as sophisticated as I was looking for. Too bad, because I loved the arch support in this boot. I usually wear an 8.5 and I ordered the 39 wide and it was perfect. For those who wear orthotics, I don't think they will fit in this boot, even if you get the wide.

These are comfortable boots! I can't think of another 2 1/2 inch shoe or boot I've ever owned that feels this great. It's like wearing slippers. It's true they are a little baggy at the ankle, but I like that because I can tuck in boot-cut jeans and they still fit perfectly. They do run big, so if you're not wearing thick socks with them, order a size smaller.

I am a Dansko devotee and I really wanted to like this boot but had to return them. The foot bed felt great, however, from the ankle up there is just too much stiff leather (in them I walked like Frankenstein!). I wore them around the house for a few days to see if they would break in but I ended up with bad knee pains (I assume from not being able to bend my ankles properly). Too bad! It is a cool looking boot!

I definitely don't understand the negative reviews for these boots. Not only are they comfortable, they are exactly what I wanted in a boot. The leather is fabulous and the style is classic and beautiful. Everyone is different: I absolutely LOVE these boots and with Zappos return policy, there is everything to gain and absolutely nothing to lose. Highly recommend!

I love these boots! I have an issue with collapsed arches and need to have good arches in my shoes. These are it! I can walk all over town in these boots, come home, and I find myself leaving my boots on because they are that comfortable. I also had excellent service from Zappos when I needed the larger size. They had it to me the very next day for free! Zappos rocks.

I really wanted to like these boots. I got the suede and they are beautiful and wonderfully constructed. The heel height was perfectly comfortable and quiet, and the boot/shaft height/circumference was great. So why did I not like them? The leather is really stiff. Unlike most boots that are lined with a soft cloth of some sort, these are lined with a leather. Which makes them stiff and hard. I wonder if they would soften up enough over time to be comfy? But alas, I walked around my house, sat down at my computer for 1/2 hour and within that time, my foot felt like it was asleep because my feet felt unforgiving and stiff. With bunion-ridden feet, that just won't work.

Ordering was easy and shipment was fast. I\'ve read other reviews that boot may not fit your calf well if you have a large muscle and I could see that being a problem. Fits small legs well. Side zipper entry makes it easy for putting on and off. I am 5\'10\' and the boot reaches about 2 inches below my knee. They seem to get a little softer each time worn. The boots are not as cute or trendy as other brand boots in this price range ($225); however, I like them and my feet do not hurt after wearing. I have been recommending them to my friends.

I didn't like these boots. I love Dansko shoes and have worn them for years. The boots are quite comfortable in the arch and wide enough to accommodate my ugly bunions. However, the boot shaft is way too baggy and wide. It's not a flattering look. I prefer a snugger fit on the calf.

I bought these boots at full price. The left ankle in the front was hard and would hurt my ankle. The leather hasn\'t softened as the salesman told me it would so it is very uncomfortable to wear these boots. I wish I could return them for a refund.

They are excellent but the boot shaft is too wide!
They would be perfect but the boot shaft is too wide making them impossible for me to wear with many of my slacks! If only they were spandex at the top!

As a hospital pharmacist I began wearing Dansko clogs many years ago while working. Recently, I became very frustrated wearing boots that hurt my feet. Healthy feet and posture are very important to me so I thought I\'d try the Dansko brand for boots. I wore the Bella boot for the first time to an event that kept me on my feet for over 7 hours. Normally, by this time with regular boots my feet would be killing me. Not these. I was utterly amazed. They were comfortable, with the natural ability for the foot to move while walking just like my Dansko clogs. I was also easily able to move my toes just like the clogs without the boots looking clunky. Only very slight problem is that the boot shaft is a bit too wide for me, but not a problem with jeans. I ordered the boots in size 38 just like my clogs and the size was perfect.

These are awesome. Super comfy, sexy, totally functional. I get so many compliments when I wear these boots. They look great with a skirt; great with jeans. I love these. Totally worth the price.

These fit great. I actually think there is plenty of room in the calf. I am athletic and tend to have big calves. I tried on Ariat boots and could barely zip them (only with a lot of struggle). The extra room in the ankle is not a problem. It lets you wear the boots with jeans and fold them at the ankle to fit them in. Most of the other tall boots I tried couldn\'t fit with jeans. I love them. The heel is a little higher but it makes it good for dressing up too and the foot bed is so comfy it doesn\'t bother me.

Fantastic boots! Very comfortable (I have grandma-like feet!) and stylish. I have gotten lots of compliments on them. When I read the other review about them being snug, I knew that was what I was looking for. There is still a gap, but that may come in handy if I want to tuck jeans into them in the future (probably not).

I finally found my perfect boot. I ordered the black suede Bella boots in my usual Dansko size and they fit like a dream, right out of the box. I'd been concerned about other reviewers' comments about the calf, but I found the fit just right. (Which is saying a lot, considering that I used to dance ballet and am now a bodybuilder!) I love the style of these boots. They look great with everything, and are truly comfortable. My only regret is that I can't afford to buy a pair in every color.

I ordered these boots because of the Dansko name; this brand generally produces well-made and comfortable footwear. These boots are no exception. I’ve only worn the boots a few times, but had to be on my feet for several hours during one wearing and had just completed a marathon prior to another wearing; my feet didn’t complain. My only criticism is that the suede is rather stiff; I’m hoping they will soften with wear. The heel is a bit higher than I tend to wear for daily use but I wanted something I could also wear for dressy occasions.

Oh. My. Goodness! Finally a pair of tall black boots that fit me! I have a long foot (11.5/12) and a small calf. Most boots that fit in the foot are huge in the calf. These fit great! Very comfy, the heel is not too high or too narrow. Great boot!

Darn! The shoe part of this boot fits like a dream and is so comfortable. That was just what I was looking for. But the shaft that comes up over your calf doesn't work at all. It fit well around my calf, but I had inches too much room around my ankles. Plus, the heavy leather on the shaft made the boot really stiff and when the leather bent to accommodate moving, it pinched the skin. Also, the heavy upper made this boot look more like a work boot or galosh than a feminine, dressy boot, which was what I was hoping for.

Beautiful looking but had to send them back because they run very small. If you have smaller feet I'm sure these would work for you - would not advise for size 11 or 12. But of course Zappos totally fantastic with the returns!

Calves way too narrow! I slipped the boot on happily, feeling just the right size for my foot. Great heel, too. (I own Dansko clogs and I like their height.) I saw the expansion gusset in the photo and was hoping against odds (with so many complaints on this boot) that the calf would fit. Well, no. I can not zip up the top five inches. Not even close. I don't have exceptionally wide calves. Not a runner. Whoever designed these Dansko boots is missing some key information about American women's calf sizing. Disappointing!

Gorgeous, but...
These boots are gorgeous and comfortable and perfect in so many ways. I have a relatively slender calf and they fit really well. There was a little bit of bunching around the ankle but that's not why I returned them. Unfortunately I found the heel too high. I have an old ankle injury that flares up if I wear heels this high. I was very disappointed because I loved them so much, but I had to go with a flatter boot. If I could wear heels these are the most comfortable I could imagine!

I\'ve been waiting for Dansko to come out with a new boot, and was really excited when I ordered the Bella from Zappos. I got them in brown, and when they arrived it made me sad to see that they were more red than brown. A very nice rich color, I must say, but not what I was looking for. The boot itself, however, was fabulous! The 39 was a perfect fit (I\'m usually between 8.5 and 9), and they were very, very comfortable. I could tell that I would be able to walk all day in them with no problems. They were a little roomy around the ankles, which made me wonder if they would end up slouching or bunching too much over time. Not too much of a concern if they were the right color. Unfortunately, I ended up returning them since I was looking for a brown pair of boots. If what you want is a nice pair of well-made boots in a rich red-brown color, I would highly recommend these.
