Not enough stability - I am a moderate over-pronator. And while these shoes look great and fit great, the stability just isn't enough for me. I can feel myself rolling to the inside of this shoe. I returned these shoes for the Saucony Guide2 which over better stability and A LOT MORE cushioning. On another note: My feet are wide, but not enough for EE. These shoes did fit my width nicely. But, just not enough support.

Most of my shoes are New Balance because it is comfortable and roomy for my extra wide feet. But the latest one I brought MR749 size 4E is a little bit tight on the toes compare with the others NB shoes I have.

These shoes appear to be sized smaller than their specified size. A 15 shoe fits my 14 foot. As a basic running shoe for a casual runner, this gives decent performance for good price.

I bought these in a 14, normally wear a 13. They fit pretty well. New Balance has joined the horde of shoe manufacturers who believe running shoes should come to a point in the center like womenss heel dress shoes, so if you dont want to break your big toe, buy this shoe a size large. Personally, I dislike the gray and red theme, but that was my best choice

Best pair of running shoes I have ever owned. Functionally they are perfect. From a style perspective these are as good as running shoes get (all running shoes need a bit of work in that department as far as I\'m concerned).

Good looking and comfortable. Well vented, which is good if you are running trails, but may distract if these are just for fashion or you walk through some wet grass while taking out the trash. Would definitely buy these again.

This pair of New Balance shoes are probably the lightest pair of running shoes I've ever owned. They are pretty comfortable, only take about a week to fully break in, if you run/walk in them consistently. I am not a big fan of running, I'm 6'7", 210 lbs so running long distances usual hurts my feet and/or knees, but right now I'm putting about 12-14 miles on them per week and I haven't had any foot pain or blisters. All in all, a very good shoe at a very fair price.

These sneakers are fantastic, they look sharp, and they obviously fit/feel great because my five year old son absolutely loves his. He is a picky shoe wearer, so when he raves about a shoe it must be good. I plan on getting several more of these. They are just a foolproof sneaker for boys!

These are probably my 5th pair of New Balance sneakers and they are by far the best. They are extremely comfortable and the quality of the shoe itself is very good. They seemed to run a bit narrow, though, as I had to exchange the D-width for the EE-width. Zappos customer service went above and beyond assisting me with this issue. I sent an e-mail asking about the width and the next thing I knew, I had the EE's in my hands. They handled everything. I have never seen a company with this level of customer service. I will always buy my shoes here!

I have been told by a New balance Rep that this shoe is the new updated version of the 740 stability trainer which I loved. I loved that pair of sneakers more than any other I've ever owned! Unfortunately, as far as my feet are concerned, the 749 is a step in the WRONG direction. This shoe runs a lot more narrow than my 740's. I have flat feet and a fairly wide forefoot so I need a sneak with EE width and a generous toe box. The 749 in a EE feels a bit cramped. The shoe also has a harder feel, less responsive cushioning than the 740 delivered. I bought this sneak in black (I hate white sneakers!), and like the styling, but that's about it. I wish New Balance would bring the 740 back into production!

Never go wrong with New Balance - 2 years ago, my workplace had a flood. A water pipe burst and the cleanup was massive. My employer gave everyone in our department a $100 gift certificate for new shoes since ours were ruined. That was the first time I tried New Balance and I will never go back. This shoe is phenomenal. I am a big man, 6'3" 400 pounds, so shoes are very important. This is the most comfortable pair of shoes I have put on my feet. I never have foot, back or leg pain. They fit perfectly in the 4E width and have superb cushioning. The Abzorb feature is what keeps me coming back. If you're big like me, find a pair that has Abzorb and trust me, your feet will love you!

By far the best running shoe I have ever purchased. They are extremely comfortable and fit snug to my food without being too tight. Most of the shoe is mesh so it allows my feet to stay cool while I work out. My feet tend to sweat a lot during a work out, but these are the only shoes that have ever kept my feet dry because of the mesh. They offer a lot of support, and I would recommend these shoes to anyone who needs comfort.

These are the first New Balance shoes I've owned and I couldn't be happier with them. I'm not much of a runner and in truth use these more for general wear and city walking, but in layman's terms, they are perhaps the "lightest" feeling shoes I've ever purchased. They seem to balance very well, have great ventilation and they were extremely comfortable from the moment I put them on. Even the shoe laces stay tied, a minor point but one I sincerely appreciate! The style and colors are great and thus far they seem to be wearing brilliantly. My only regret is that I didn't get hooked on New Balance before now!

I bought these for my hubby and he loved them! We'd searched a dozen stores for the right sneaker, and he wasn't satisfied. So, quick and easy, Zappos delivered 10 pairs the next day for him to sit in the comfort of our own home, try them on, and finally, he picked the sneaker of his dreams. Thanks Zappos for making my hubby happy.

Very nice shoe. Lightweight yet still has good support and cushioning. I'm lovin this shoe so far. (1 month) I found them to run about a 1/2 size small. The only thing better than the shoe is the customer service!

I liked the looks of the black and silver New Balance 749. I always wear New Balance so I knew that a 12 EE would fit. The shoes arrived very quickly. I wore them inside and they fit great. I could not find these in any stores. They just dont keep my size in stock. I was very happy to be able to order them from Zappos.

Good looking shoe and comfortable -
Note: get a size wider than you normally buy in New Balances. These seem to run narrow. My 4E pair is actually a little snug, and I usually buy EE with room to spare in the toe box with NBs. Length runs true to size. I really like the looks of this shoe and it seems to be sorta middle of the road in terms of cushioning vs stability. Half of the heel has cushy foam and the other half has a harder support foam for stability. The New Balance "absorb" foam, while not as cushy as the Saucony stuff, seems to last very long. The uppers seem a bit weak, but that's typical of running shoes that are so light... it breathes well.

Excellent shoe. Great support and width, which is always an issue for me, is not with this shoe. Very well ventilated without sacrificing lateral support and is extremely comfortable. From a styling perspective is much more appealing in the hand than in the pictures shown. Will be buying more of the same or similar shoe.

I have had knee problems mostly caused by years of pounding on the basketball court. I am an occassional runner... maybe 10 miles per week. I read about how overpronation may be contributing to my knee problems so I tried these corrective shoes. So far so good. I notice less pain with these compared to my old running shoes... they feel a little more supportive on the inside (medial side of the foot as I run). There are way too many choices for "stability" shoes, but I think that these are about middle of the road for price and seem to do the trick for performance.

Slightly narrow, but that's just me -
Right out of the box, this shoe impressed me. The shoes are feather light. Size 10.5 weighed in at about 13 oz. each. The quality construction is one of the hallmarks of New Balance (most of the time). The downside for me is that I need custom orthotic arch supports and when I slipped them into this shoe, the whole dynamic changed. Suddenly, the toe box cramped my fifth metatarsal and the navicular bone at the top of the arch pushed up so high that the tongue of the shoe tended to migrate off to the lateral (outside) of the shoe. I know from experience that this is a bad sign of how this shoe would break in over time. This is a great running shoe for most people. But for those of us with orthotic arch support, maybe not so good.
