These are some good boots. I work in an oil field and they hold up and are very comfortable. Very fast shipping and good price for the quality of the boots.

A well made boot, but was by far the worst pair of work boots I have ever owned. I could not break them in. Insoles did not work, they were just horribly uncomfortable and it did not get better with time. Maybe they are good if you are at a rave posing and standing around, but when you've worked on your feet for 12 hours like I have done the only thing you want to do with these boots at the end of the day is throw them in the trash. I am not impressed with Dr. Martens; buy something else.

I work Offshore in the Gulf of Mexico and slip-on boots are the way to go. I have also owned Caterpillar slip-ons. Slip-ons take some getting used to, but overall the comfort is superior. I think they weigh a little more, but I never looked at the numbers. While my Dr Martens are more comfortable, I think they are heavier than the Cats. I can't say enough about the shipping. I ordered the boots Saturday afternoon while driving and they arrived Monday morning!

These boots are incredibly comfortable. I am on my second pair, but on each pair the leather has worn through on the toe, revealing the steel toe underneath. The boots are still wearable, but they dont look so great. Zappos, however, sent a replacement pair. Overall, good work boots.

Great shoe -
I have been wearing Dr. Martens boots for about 11 years. When they get broken in they are very comfortable. I bought these for the convenience of not tying. Have worn these boots almost every day since I received them in the mail. Would love to have a pair without the steel toe.

Great Boots -
I have worn these boots 10 hrs. a day 4 days a week for almost 2 yrs. I'm on my feet most of the time on cement and work with chemicals. They have outlasted any other brand I have worn. I'm going to order another pair. Great boots!

My Second Pair -
I like these boots so well, I bought another pair. Great padded ankle and the boots are built well enough to take all the oil patch can dish out. Zappos.com sent them quickly W/O hassles.

Keen Salem and Providence boots were my favorite boots ever. These look almost the same, but are made of a tougher, more rigid material that is less comfortable. The toe rubber pinches your toe when you walk, the prior boot styles did not require breaking in. They are sized a bit too large, the insoles are a little slippery, and even the outter soles are a bit slippery and are not as complex or as gripping as the old IMO. This is an inferior boot for the same price. The construction seems cheaper, like it was outsourced or something. I want the old Keens back, and I am willing to buy like 4 pairs. These don't suck but they are not worth overlooking other manufacturers for, the thing that set Keen apart was that immediate sense of comfort.
Other brands recommended by reviewer: Keen Salem, Keen Providence, some non-Keens if they don't return.

Dr. Martens - great brand/Zappos - great service -
I ordered the Gaucho Volcano, even though I was afraid they were going to be a reddish-brown hue from the picture. What a surprise... they were a beautiful, even dark chocolate brown. Easy to put on right out of the box. Fit was perfect after about a week of break-in and the padded ankles are a beautiful design. These boots aren't made for walking or hiking with the steel toes... but will last forever at work for me. And Docs are one of the few decent mens boots that offer smaller sizes for women that actually fit well. Zappos shipped them to me in record time all the way to Hawaii. Maybe 3 days from order? Great boots. Great service!

Not the same as the old Drs were -
These boots look awesome and they are super comfy, especially for a steel toe. However, the second time I wore them, I yanked the straps on the side (which are known as bootstraps for pulling them on) and the stitching ripped. Not a big deal. I can drop them at the shoe store to get it enforced, but I shouldn't have to go through that with brand new boots. They are slightly tight on the arch, but I do have a very high arch. The steel toe goes unrecognizable, which is important during wear. The leather is nice and besides the straps, the construction is nice, but original Drs were much nicer.
I would recommend the boot, just be careful pulling them on and off!

Best boot ever!
I'm a paramedic, so I wear my boots 24 hours at a time. I was looking for an alternative to my Red Wing Fire boots, something not as restricting. They are a little snug out of the box, but stretch over time and provide surprisingly good support for a pull on. Excellent boot!

Great Boot!
I have been wanting to find a steel toed Wellington for me for work for a long time. As a woman, I have never been able to find one in my size. When I have looked, I have been told they don't make a men's Wellington small enough to fit me. I was excited to see these on the website. This pair of boots is really comfortable and I really like them. I was a bit worried that the shank might be too high. I have fat calves and sometimes my Roper's are too tight, but these boots are perfect as far as the shank height and comfort around my ankles. Zappos has done it again as far as service goes. This is the second pair of work boots I have ordered from them. I ordered around noon on a Thursday and got them around noon on Friday. About a 24 hour turn around. Can't beat that.

Great Boot -
These boots are very sturdy and comfortable. The soles are much better than the last pair of Dr. Martens pull ons that I bought from Zappos. The soles actually split on them.
I was actually thinking about returning them.
This boot actually has ankle pads to prevent you from banging your ankle on steel or equipment.

Good, but not perfect -
I work on ladders all day and sometimes walk on roofs, so I need support and traction. The 7A50 series has worked well for me, except that my feet were always wet when it rained...sopping wet. I assume the water was coming in thru the laces, which is why I decided to try the 2295. The 2295 so far has provided protection from water, but I haven't worn them in a storm yet. They seem to hold up against the abuse from my job. But the arch support is less than adequate. In fact, I put on an old pair of 7A50's after wearing my 2295 all day and the difference in comfort was noticeable. The 7A50 was more comfortable. So now I'm going to have to shell out more money for an insert for my otherwise functional 2295's...

Nice, but they are hard to get on!
I bought these boots to use while riding a scooter. For that purpose, they are great. My only issue with them is that getting them on is a challenge. I have to wear REALLY thin socks to get them on. Each time I put them on it gets easier, so I think I'll be wearing regular socks eventually. The first try on was quite frustrating though. They are comfortable. There is not much support inside, but there is plenty of room to add a gel sole or an arch.

Doc Martens 2295 -
First I wanna say that I am a girl in a paper mill and I have a hard time finding boots. These look awesome! I also have very wide and abnormal feet. I just got these in the mail today after I had to send the first pair back because they were too big. The second pair is a little snug, but from what I understand, they will stretch majorly. I usually have this issue with all shoes so I'm not very worried. Zappos did an amazing job with the whole mail and return process. I must say I did not expect them to live up to reviews from other people, but they surpassed them. I will definitely order shoes from here again and I will be back soon to review again when my shoe completely breaks in.

Count on comfort -
I wear Docs and this is the first boot from them that I have tried. They are fantastic! I have orthotics and they work just fine, the steel toe is great, I farm in Arizona so the comfort and safety is welcome. They fit just right and I will see if they stay cool enough this summer.

Zippo!!!!
Ordered boots at 1.20pm 1/31; UPS just delivered at 1.20pm 2/1. Amazing. Packaging great, tried on boots immediately - and am still wearing them (inside). Look exactly as expected; in fact 'finish' ("Gaucho Volcano") is even better. Definitely comfortable, ankle support good. I can see why, if used as an all day work boot, why some people may insert gel/support soles. Also suggestions of long socks would probably work, esp. before leather 'worn-in'. Otherwise for rugged, cold/hard weather boots these can't be beat.

The boots were purchased for my son he works on a concrete floor 12-14 hours a day. The first day he wore them his feet hurt so bad we had to purchase gel insoles for them. The inside should be designed with more cushion and memory foam etc.

Best boots I've ever owned -
I needed safety toed boots for a month long training assignment. I liked the look of these Doc's and thought they would do for this brief need. I have never owned such a comfortable pair of boots. They look great and don't make any noise when wet on hard floors. I hate that. So in short, I will be wearing these boots as much as I can this winter.

OK boots, but still looking for better.
These boots are heavy and hot, but they are comfortable right out of the box. There is not much arch support but they flex well. I am going to keep looking for the perfect boot but these did come close.
Other brands recommended by reviewer: These are very simular to Wolverines only less break in time.

These boots were comfortable right out of the box. No break-in time, extra insoles or pads needed. I wear them 13 hours a day without any problem.

 | | Hello! I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who works for Zappos. As of yesterday, I've ordered from Zappos five times over the last couple years. I usually get my orders the next day, and the longest it's taken has only been two days, and I think that's just awesome! At my job I work in customer service and think it's very important to like to help people in a job like that. I can tell Zappos employees must love their jobs because everyone does such great job. With every one of my orders, it only proves there really isn't a better place to shop on line, (or shop anywhere, in general)! So thanks again and expect me to be a customer for years to come! | | ~ , October 05 2009
