I am new to vegan shoe buying so I was unsure about paying this much money for shoes I will only wear in winter. I did not try them on and wear them around the house like my boyfriend told me to do. I put them right on and trucked all over town :) And I paid for it the next day. I had bumps on the back of my legs from where they hit the back of the boot. They are stiff and didnt move at all with my ankles. I have worn them several more times and I just have to keep them laced loosely or my ankles get sore. I would buy these shoes again.

Best Hiking Boots Ever -
I will buy these shoes over and over until they stop making them. They look good, feel good, and wear really well. I wore them everyday for 2 months, walking around 10 miles a day on pavement, and they still looked brand new. The soles don't wear down fast and they give great ankle support.

I have been a loyal user of these boots for several years now, having purchased it every year for the last five or six years. I am vegan and have found it impossible to find a decent sturdy boot that is not leather, so I tended to blindly purchase these boots knowing that in a year they will not stand up to the constant wear and tear that their leather counterparts will endure. The problem lies in the fact that they are not completely waterproof, so exposure to wet conditions over time causes them to quite simply fall apart. The soles ALWAYS become broken and have big holes through to the foam, and the canvas uppers ALWAYS tear through to the sock in the same places, which eventually causes me to make the annual trip to the store to purchase another pair. I live and work in the boots, so it is perhaps unfair to rate them poorly overall, but I would like to advise the potential buyer of this product that if you are going to be in super wet conditions a lot, these boots will not last. However, you may feel that there is no other option on the market, and you're right. So, suck it up, and buy these boots. GO VEGAN!

Nice!
I have a job that requires me to hike all over the place - in the mountains, lowlands, through rivers, etc., and it could be 8-10 hour days. I carry anywhere from a 10-lb daypack to 45 pounds of equipment. So I was nervous about ordering these, because with a hiking boot, you pretty much have to wear it outside to find out if it works for you. Since this is the only vegan hiker on the market, I decided to give it a shot. I figured, even if I didn't end up liking them, maybe my purchase would help encourage manufacturers to provide more/better vegan footwear options. But they're great! I walked 15 miles with a 30-lb pack on the first day, up and down hills on very rugged terrain, and my feet felt great the whole time. I have a wide forefoot, and a narrow heel. My previous boots were Chaco Beckwith (out of production), which I thought were OK. These are better. Not too hot, no blisters, and they seem very solid. Go ahead, you won't be sorry. Great shoe!

Great vegan hiking boots.
I was very happy to find a vegan hiking boot and I bought them for my trip to Costa Rica. I wore them a lot while hiking in the mountains and on volcanoes and while zip lining. They were comfortable, didn't give me blisters, and I didn't have any grip problems. All in all they were a wonderful purchase. I normally wear an 8, I ordered an 8.5, but they were too small. Luckily Zappos sends the shoes so quickly I was able to get my size 9s the day after trying on the 8.5s and I was ready to go on my trip a few days later.

Best footwear I have EVER owned -
I bought these boots because I was going on a week-long hiking trip in Death Valley, I'm a vegetarian, and they had good reviews... let me tell you, I have never been more happy with any pairs of shoes/boots that I have ever owned. I wore them before the hiking trip to break them in, but they didn't even need it-- at NO point did they give me any discomfort whatsoever. Out of our hiking group of about 20 I think I was the only one with NO blisters or aching feet at the end of the week. Now I sing their praises to anyone who will listen. I usually wear a 9.5-10 depending on the shoe, and I ordered my Garmonts in size 10, which was perfect for me.

I gave it 3 stars for comfort because it's too short and my big toe on my larger foot is hitting the end. I have to return them. Otherwise they feel great.

Garmont's Vegan -
I'm not a hiker but I LOVE this boot! It's stylish and I love it being in purple. I wear it to work on casual day but hope to wear it more frequently once the weather cools.

Nice vegan boots -
Leather-free hiking boots aren't easy to find, and if you're willing to spend the money, these are perfectly adequate. They're a bit bulkier than I'm used to, but not too heavy, and the bulk provides a lot of warmth, which is just what I was looking for. They beat my ankles up pretty badly for the first three days, but after I'd settled in, they started to feel good-- tons of support, and they put a nice spring in my step.
These boots don't rock my world, but I'm glad I bought them. I have yet to find a better non-leather hiking boot.

SO comfy!
I usually wear a 9.5 and ordered a 10 to allow for thick socks and they fit perfectly. What a great way to live sustainable and look and feel good! Love them!

BUY THEM!!!
I've just returned from a week-long backpacking trip in Yosemite's backcountry. I wore these boots for the first time on day one of my hike, and was expecting blisters and the usual break-in period. Instead, what I found were the most comfortable, most supportive hiking boots I have ever worn, with Vibram soles that grip the ground like suction cups. No blisters, totally stable, great ankle support, breathable, yet kept my feet dry when walking through shallow creeks and under waterfalls. I raved about them so much along the way that my husband is ordering a pair today. You should, too. Best of all, they support my vegan lifestyle, so I can wear them knowing that no animals had to die to create my footwear. I give them an A+++!

Pretty darn good -
This shoe was very comfortable in most situations, however moleskin is recommended if one is wearing socks that do not come over the top of the shoe, because blisters can often form. I have several blisters from this shoe due to wearing ankle socks (not a good decision), but none on my toes or my feet at all. The shoe is very comfortable and roomy, and perfect if one has a wide foot like myself.

Best boot I've ever owned!
These are definitely hot! Very comfy- no breaking in. They're stiff enough for rough hiking but soft enough so that they don't rub you raw. With a thick pair of socks, my feet stay warm no matter how long I'm trekking outside. I wear a size 8.5 in the majority of shoes and that's what I ordered with this boot. It fits me perfectly.

Nice, but...
I was overjoyed to find a vegan boot-not a lot of choices out there. boot felt, fit & looked good but did NOT stand up to 6 months of constant backpacking-by the end the soles of both boots had almost completely delaminated! Good thing they were still under warranty...I would recommend these for light hiking only, no tromping through rivers, no mud, no bushbashing!

Not worth the price -
I have had a pair of these for a couple years now, and I wouldn't recommend spending this much on them. They're good quality, but they're not that comfortable for long distance hikes and the soles aren't very "grippy".

 | | Dear Zappos,
I'm impressed! Few companies care about customer service anymore because they seem to believe they have American consumers "over a barrel." Why provide good customer service when they don't have to? At least goes the thinking. I deplore talking to "Customer Service" representatives in overseas. I don't understand them and they don't understand me. And they don't solve problems, they just read from printed cue cards. So...THANK YOU for caring about customer service. It DOES matter to me, it DOES matter to the American public. Next time I need shoes, you'll be the first place I shop.
