1. The weight: It's been a while since I've worn a pair of Doc Martens. They are heavier than the average leather shoe. This one's a boot, so it is even heavier than the shoes I am used to wearing. 2. The size: It is true that the shoe size runs a little big. I usually wear size 6-1/2 shoes, but ordering a UK 4 (U.S. Women's 6) worked. It fits well when I wear medium to heavy/thick socks. It feels loose around the ankle when I wear thin socks. 3. The look: When I opened the box, I noticed that the leather was a bit shiny and it looked like vinyl (not leather). It looked cheap, like a knock-off as other reviewers have mentioned. For what I paid for it, I expected something that did not look cheap. On the other hand, it is a very unique-looking boot, and it is versatile. I wore a short casual skirt and black tights and my significant other said I looked cute in them. It looks great, even when I pull my bootcut jeans over them. 4. The comfort: They were stiff at first, but got less stiff as I wore them more. In the beginning, I wore trouser socks (up to the mid-calf), but I felt the inside of the shoe rubbing against/irritating the part of my calf that wasn't covered by the socks. Now I wear thick, good quality, long socks and that makes a great difference. Overall, these boots are keeping me warm, dry and comfortable in the cold, wet weather we're having here in the S.F. Bay Area. I kept them because they are fun to wear. I am still conscious about the bounce with every step!

Super disappointing boot. I read reviews that noted its low quality and decided to try it anyway, but it is true: the leather is thin, crinkly and looks & feels cheap, like a $50 DM knockoff and not the real thing. (I wore Docs years ago and the uppers were heavy duty, not crap like these are.) The style is appealing and soles sturdy, but upon seeing them in the box, I was not even inspired to try them on, although I did just for the heck of it. Perhaps as another reviewer said, I am too accustomed to the comfort of Keen, Teva, etc., but these felt like clod hoppers and even though I usually take an 8 in boots, my heel slipped up when walking. Made for walking they are not, at least not for me. I returned them.

I really do like these boots. The leather is a bit stiff as others have said, so they aren't totally comfy, on the other hand, with good socks, I have no complaints. Stylewise, I'm digging them. They aren't too tall, too bikery, too fancy, but go nicely with a casual skirt and over my skinny jeans.

These boots feel really cheap. I feel like I am wearing a discount store knock off and not a quality shoe. The plus side is that they are way cuter than any discount knock-off. Mine are being returned, though, despite the cute factor.

These are great boots and very stylish. There were only three left in my size, so I went straight to \'checkout\'. And I\'m so glad I did! The shape of the toe is just what I like, not too round or pointy. And the platform is just the right height and very comfortable. You rock with every step. I bought the boots in black so they\'d go with everything, dressy or casual. Perfect timing for winter\'s fashion! And they\'re made by Doc Martens, one of my favorite brands. Great condition that will last.

Super cute but not for lean legs/ankles! I was so excited about these Docs (in Wine) since I've been a Doc fan forever, but then when they finally came, they didn't fit right. The fit my feet decently (I'm in between a 7-7.5 so cant' really say if this fit is 'right') and around my calves (I'm average build), but the ankles are too loose! My heel kept lifting with each step. I could probably 'make' them work, with doubling socks and heel grippers/insoles, but I can only imagine heartache of having the insoles fly out (or worse, bunch up) while I'm trying to get in/out of the boots. Dr. Marten, you tried, but the ankle buckles should be functional, not just stylish!

Love, Love, Love these boots. Perfect for me. Just a little height and I am able to walk in them comfortably. Can wear them over skinny jeans. I did put an foot insert in as well. A lot of wiggle room for me. Would love to buy in more colors.

I love these boots. They are extremely lightweight and comfy (I added a gel insole, as I always do with boots). I think they are true to size. I do not have particularly large calves, and think that the calf fit comfortably. There was no tight breaking in period unlike with some other boots I own.

These shoes are awesome. Pretty versatile. I live in the woods, but they are still appropriate, then I can slip them on when I head to the city. Really comfortable, but the sizes run a little big. Size 8s are usually a little snug, but these 8s fit me perfectly. Pricier than most shoes I would buy, but well worth the money. I hope to have them for quite some time.

Great boots! Dress them up or down. Wear with your skinny jeans tucked in or wear them under boot cut jeans. The buckles are adjustable. I had to apply a heel cushion to the insides of the boot because my heel kept on lifting up. I walked around quite a bit the first time I wore these and I had no problems at all. I am in between sizes (U.S. 6/7). I ordered the UK 4 and they fit wonderfully.

I bought these for a trip I\'m taking to London in November. I needed something warm, water resistant, comfortable and cute. These are so comfortable! The minute I tried them on, they fit perfectly with no stiffness or rubbing, as is typical of Doc Martens. \r\nI walked around in them for two days to break them in, but they really didn\'t need it. To test how water resistant they are, I stood with a sprinkler aimed at my foot for about five minutes and stood in a puddle as well. No leakage, which surprised me as they aren\'t advertised as waterproof or water resistant. They are warm, too, but since I live in Hawaii, I guess I can\'t say for sure how warm they will be in cold weather. I can\'t wait to wear them in London!\r\nI felt these were true to size and bought them in the size I actually wear instead of sizing up. The width feels a little narrow compared to most Doc Martens, but was still comfortable while wearing thick socks. \r\nThe only complaint I have is that the toe is shaped a little strangely, but I think once these are worn for a while, the toe will soften a bit and round out.

I wanted to love these docs -
I used to own several pairs of Docs. I wore docs and only Docs for years. I have been hunting for boots in this style, and was really hoping that these boots would be the perfect balance of form/function. I wanted punk-sexy with a good sturdy sole that could stand up to some rain and snow. Sadly, I do think the quality has gone down in the 10 years since I bought my last pair. I was worried that the leather would be too shiny and I was right. The leather is very stiff and scratchy. It looks and feels cheap. I've been spoiled by wearing Danskos and Keens, and I just ordered some Lassen boots that are buttery soft (and cheaper), so by comparison the quality and comfort were very disappointing. If I picked them up in a store I doubt I would even have tried them on, despite how sexy and cool they look. I do love how thick the soles are. I have never seen this type of sole with a girly heel on any Docs before. If you are under 30 and are into a punk/goth look then these boots might just rock your world, if you are tough enough to break them in. They ooze punk attitude. I just wish they were better made.

I have large calves and these boots were a bit snug. I had them stretched and they fit great now.The zipper is rather shoddy though and one of them broke so I had both replaced. I was told that Doc Martens just aren't made as well as they used to be. I don't understand why a company would skimp on something like a zipper but they do now. Hopefully they will hold up for awhile since I've had to invest $50 in them since I purchased them.

I really looked around and decided on these boots because I needed something to wear when riding my motorcycle. I also wanted to be able to wear them to work and when going out. There is enough articulation at the front of the boot for riding, and they are stylish and comfortable enough to wear with khakis at work. A few comments about these boots: although I should have ordered a size smaller, they are comfortable. The sole is very cushy, but I will probably add arch supports. Like most people have said, they do not squeeze the calves. This is okay with me since I have muscular calves, and I like tucking my jeans into my boots. Plus, come winter, I will be wearing thicker socks. I tried them on with jeans over the boot and skinny jeans tucked in, and they look subtle, sexy and tough at the same time. I didn't try them on with a skirt, but I think it would work really well. My husband said they looked really good on me, so that is always a plus.

My daughter loves these boots! She is thirteen and she likes the fit, she likes the style and she loves that everyone else loves them. She has worn them with pants and with shirts and they look great on her, enough "dark side" for her and enough femininity for me. Thanks for a pair of great boots at a great price.

I love the look of these and was really excited to get them; but they were a bit of a disappointment. The inside of the boot is lined with something that feels like cheap cardboard, and the facing to the zipper is also some kind of nasty vinyl. They make a crunchy noise when I walk! Overall, they don't feel like the level of quality I would expect from Doc Martens, and certainly not for this price point. I would expect these to be much cheaper as they are. Sorry Zappos, but these will have to go back!

Well, I love Docs but I wanted to order a more girly boot. Saw these, fell in love, and ordered them. Sadly they are not as comfortable as regular Doc boots. There is a piece, like cardboard, in the shaft of the boot that cuts into you just above the ankle. I literally wore these to just a movie and my ankles were bruised from the boot. Beware! However, I must say Zappos is simply the best when it comes to ordering online, so I'm already looking for my new pair!

What is so cool about the Milly Doc Martens is that they are so very different than your standard boot. They look very cool with knee socks and a skirt. They are a little industrial, but reserved enough to go to work in (if you have a causal environment). I love boots and have so many pairs. I strive to have very unique boots that no one else does. I got the Milly in the Burgundy Wine color. They are lighter to wear than other Doc's. Growing up I had a pair of Burgundy 20 holes and haven't owned any Doc's since I was in my late teens, now in my early thirties this is certainly a boot that brings me back. Very cool! I hope you enjoy them too!

I couldn't be happier. I just opened the box! I just ordered these yesterday. I got them to ride my new motorcycle and they will be great. The fit is a little big, because I'm in between sizes, but will be good when I need to wear thick socks. I'm thin and petite, so the ankle and leg on these is wide, but comfortable, with the buckle adjustment. The style and finish is great, kudos to Dr. Marten's on the design. Kudos to Zappos on the availability and the shipping. I'm giving these 4 stars overall because it's difficult when selecting a size, especially when you're in between. Five stars for comfort and style.

Great boots -
Love the styling and super comfortable. I've barely taken them off since I got them. If I could change one thing it would be a better fit around the calves. They're big. Even so, still cute.

Looks nice, but doesn't fit so well -
I started with a UK 5 and my heel was lifting, so I went down to a UK 4, but my heel still lifts up when I walk. So although this is a great looking boot, I had to send it back.

I love these boots! I followed others' recommendations and went a half size down and they're perfect. I started wearing them right away and they were immediately comfortable. I find the footbed and sole quite cushioned as is, though I might add an insole for extra comfort. I dont have particularly skinny legs and I find that they're a bit wide around the top, but that helps give them that motorcycle boot/engineer boot styling -plus I imagine that will be helpful when wearing them with pants tucked in to them.
