This is a great all-weather shoe. Visiting Denver in a snow storm, its waterproof design held up great. It is also a terrific, comfortable walking shoe for those of us who prefer not to jog. Feels great!

I bought these sneakers for my husband and he loved them. Perfect fit, very comfortable, was able to wear them all day the first day. Only wish was that you had more colors to offer (ex: blue or black), as he does not wear much brown at all.

These shoes are excellent. My husband has a narrow foot and they fit perfectly and are true to size. He wore them on a 10 day hiking and walking trip and had no complaints in fact he couldn't believe how comfortable they were even at the end of some very long days.

These are great shoes. I consistently walk 3-4 miles a day and wear out about two pairs of walking shoes a year. I discovered this New Balance waterproof walker about three years ago and since my first pair, its the only walking shoe I buy. I especially like the fact that New Balance offers a wide range of sizes and widths. I have a small but wide foot (hard to fit). These are comfortable right out of the box and I could hike all day with them. Coupled with Zappos good value and great service, its is a winner.

I am really pleased with the New Balance 966s I purchased from Zappos. I have an narrow foot and these shoes fit very well. Immediately after getting them I took them on vacation and I had no problems with breaking them in. They were comfortable from the first time I wore them. Zappos is one of the few places I can find narrow widths, so I hope they continue to stock this width. I ordered the shoes on a Monday afternoon and they arrived TUESDAY AFTERNOON. At no extra cost to me. Is that service? I have found Zappos a great place to do business.

For years I have searched shoe stores for anything in my size, and the best I could find was one or two shoes in my size "13 narrow". And usually the shoes were "butt ugly". Thank you so much! Now I can find all the brands and styles that are made in "13 narrow" Outstanding!

I never write reviews. Just returned from trip to Europe. Walked at least 5 miles every day for 11 days. I could have walked much more. These shoes made the trip. My feet never got tired - a problem I always have. I am 6 foot 4 inches tall and 240 lbs and walking is not my favorite thing to do. With these shoes, I often avoided buses and cabs just so I could enjoy the walk. Not to mention that I seem to have lost a few pounds!

These waterproof boots are soft and light weight. Great for hiking in rocky areas. Usually I hike in trail running shoes, but these shoes feel so good that I will use them on a regular basis.

Best buying experience ever -
I have had the pleasure of buying shoes three times from Zappos.com. Their web site is easy to navigate and their product descriptions are right on the money.
Zappos.com's customer service is the best I have ever known. If they were running the country we would not have any of the problems we have today. What else can I say?

Handsome but tight and harsh -
The metal eyelets stab into the top of your foot. This model is generally tight in the toe.

These shoes are the best. No second thoughts about it. They fit like they were made for me. Perfect right out of the box. I really hate to take them off. They look great, feel great, and hold up as advertised (water proof).

I love this shoe.
If someone made a shoe just for me, this would be one of them. I love the casual, but handsome style, and they meet my needs for a very comfortable, sturdy, waterproof, supportive, well cushioned shoe. I ordered the EE, and it is a good fit for my slightly wide feet. The best thing I can say about these shoes is when I put them on and stand up, I have this uncontrollable desire to go out walking.

These are perfect for dealing with Chicago snow and slush while still looking nice-casual. Our family is sold on New Balance, as both men in the family wear B-width, hard to find in other brands, especially in running/walking/hiking shoes. Our experience is that New Balance requires ordering up a half-size in length. Husband reports that the round laces on these require extra tugging when being laced as they slip, rather than holding their position like flat laces.
Other brands recommended by reviewer: Only New Balance!

De-evolution of a decent walking shoe -
The functionality and quality of these shoes has deteriorated with each new version. When I first started wearing the 963 about six years ago, the shoe was ugly but a great, durable, and lightweight walker. The 964 wasn't bad, a bit heavier, but the waterproofing didn't really work. The 965 was clunky, heavy, and the metal eyelets dug into the top of my foot. Now, the 966 doesn't fit well, is too heavy, cheaply-made, and ug-go-lee. It slips off your foot because there's no eyelet at the top. The leather web on the tongue doesn't even connect at the bottom, so water will pour right in. Not worth the price. It's too bad. New Balance used to make good shoes.
