This boot came highly recommended by many of my hunting buddies. I needed a good boot for mountain hunting (goat/sheep/bears/caribou) and hiking, as most of my hunting takes place on very steep areas either at or above tree line. I got a couple of blisters while breaking them in, when they were stiff. Since the break in period has been over, they have been absolutely the best boot I have ever owned. I have worn these boots on all my hikes and hunts (that don't require hip boots), both steep and flat hikes/hunts. Well worth the money.

Lowa Hunter GTX Extreme -
I use the boots for elk hunting in Colorado. I have owned a variety of boots in my hunting career and never found a boot that works better. The best boot (in my opinion) on the market for carrying heavy loads on your back and side swiping rocky terrain. I suggest you purchase the boot at least a month before you plan on using them to break in.

Great boots but -
They say that these boots are made for extreme conditions, and that there is no brake in time. Well they are wrong; I was hunting in 30 degree weather with about 10" of snow. I whore Patagonia Expedition weight socks, and I couldn't stop moving for more than 1/2 hour. It took 3 days until they where broke in. I will say that I didn't slip at all in the woods so that was great. In all the boots are good but I wanted something a little warmer.

The very BEST -
Just got my Lowa boots, man is Zappos fast at getting their shoes out. Highly recommend them if you are shopping for shoes. The very best boots you can buy are Lowa boots I am. So impressed with their quality. These are the most expensive boots I have ever purchased, but they are worth it. If you are looking for the best there is, go with Lowa.

Lowa break in period -
I had read many folk saying the Hunter didn’t need much break in and found it very hard to believe. I bought a pair an on my first hike in the mountains I put in a solid 8 miles with 3000 feet elevation change. No hotspots, blisters or any issues of any kind. I am a believer! One note, get ride of the innersoles and get a self molding "the sole" for better fit.

Problem with boot width -
Every boot I have ever bought has been a men’s 12 regular/medium. I ordered the Lowa Hunter GTX Extreme boot and at first it was comfortable, then after more extended wear I found the width was too narrow and very uncomfortable. I plan on purchasing the same boot again but in a wide with. I hope it will solve the problem. Other than that I love the boot but of no use to me.

Real walking/hiking-
Purchased this GTX Camper boot because of having to walk on wooded hillsides, not flat ground. Needed ankle support so I don't turn my ankle like with low hiking boots... First time I wore them I put 6 miles on them, no blisters, and they were a perfect snug fit, no squeezing the toes etc. My boots are normal D width not wide or narrow, and they are as if custom made for me... Danner boots are for narrow feet and I can't wear them, the wide size is for fat feet etc... I am fit and real walker and so these boots are just perfect to protect my feet and to let walk with out pain. As I have one ankle that was broken severely in an accident... Bottom line is they are worth every penny… Happy camper I am... I did order a half size larger because the camper model is that way as compare to my other boots.
Other brands recommended by reviewer: Lowa boot with Gor Tex liner's all of them

I purchased my 'dream come true' boots, & although you didn't have anything to do with 'making' them you had everything to do with me getting them finally. I have been looking for them since I saw them (or this design) in Spain 5 yrs ago. Locally I found them only in one place & they were sold out.
