The Birkenstock Madrid is true to size for Birkenstocks. Very stylish and cute for summer, goes well with shorts, capris and dresses/skirts. For the most part, they are comfortable, but because they are the flip-flop style, my feet tend to slide forward when I walk making them a little less comfortable than some other Birkenstock sandals I own. I still really like them though, and wear them quite a lot.

I bought these for my wife, as her old pair of Birkenstocks are very old, and went by the sizing chart (size was worn off her old pair). I ordered a 39, as she wears 7.5-8 in US size. I could tell these were way bigger than her old pair when they arrived, so I returned for 38. When she tried them on, the 38s were still a bit big (using the recommended Birk fitment), so exchanged for 37. She loves them! Just be careful with the size. All returns/exchanges were smooth and fast with Zappos. Very satisfied. Used both online and called in and spoke to a representative who was pleasant and extremely helpful. Great company.

This particular style is so comfortable; as with most Birks the cork insole molds to your foot and soon it isn't a shoe but an extension of your foot. I highly recommend any Birkenstock; they are by far the most comfort I have found in footwear. The only thing better than a Birkenstock is to purchase my Birks from Zappos! I love doing business with you. Even though I have only placed a few orders, I am completely sold on your company. If word of mouth is your best advertising, my mouth must be worth millions. I am impressed with Zappos 10 point core values. Every company should take a look at Zappos and try to emulate themselves to your high ethical standards of business. By the way, my order was delivered less than 24 hours from when I first placed the order. This is not the first time, rather it seems to be the normal, wonderful customer service that has spoiled me. Thank you for the Wow! This company is great.

Birkenstocks are the only shoes my feet enjoy wearing. They are incredible comfortable and the Madrid style is fashionable and dressier than other types. I bought these in chocolate brown and love wearing them with skinny jeans and skirts. I get a lot of compliments on them and for the price there is no reason to pass them up!

Awesome fit and feel, great price too! I have the black patent and wear them in lieu of flip-flops since they offer more arch support and I am on my feet all day. Worth purchasing.

I ordered a pair of Birkenstock sandals. They arrived the next day! I love them and I absolutely love dealing with Zappos. Would I recommend them to friends and family? In a heartbeat. Super to deal with! And Birkenstock products. I have plantar fasciitis and my Podiatrist recommended them. Birkenstocks and Zappos are great!

Great shoes for around the house, yet still acceptable, though not fashionable, for doing errands. Would have preferred matte finish or suede, but these were available in my size, 39, at a discounted price. I also have very wide feet, EEand these fit fine. Based on past experience with this brand, I expect them to last a long, long time.

I had Birkenstock before. They last for years. They are practical, light, and comfortable. They accomodate most difficult feet. Besides, they look good. This time I had a slight problem in the beginning though: the leather was too tough and rubbed on my pinkies for a while. After a few weeks, me and my Birkies, we are getting along quite fine. If you buy Birkenstocks, you have to keep in mind that you'll have them for years. Again, the leather should be somehow softened on the edges, so that they won’t rub on feet in the beginning. That would be a great improvement. But, all in all, I am quite happy with my Birkies.

recently had foot surgery..only shoe type I could wear aftyer the boot came off....felt great..since have purchased thre more pair similar to these. Zappos service is excellent!

I ordered these in chocolate and was hesitant to do so, fearing that the patent would be too stiff and shiny. I was wrong on both counts. These are great shoes and are among my faves!

I bought these sandals for my daughter who has very flat and wide feet and whose legs are a bit out of whack because of the shape of her feet. The shoes fit great and are really helping her to have better posture. I have a pair of Birks and love them, but I wasn't sure if Madeline would be able to handle the arch support. She likes them a lot and they look great on her. Zappos is a great place to shop and the customer service is wonderful. This whole experience has been excellent.

his is my first birkenstock purchase. Have always been hesitant to try them. I love this style though...it's nice with the patent on it! I also found out that the 'regular' size Birkenstock is actually a wide and 'narrow' is actually regular. Thanks Zappos customer service for helping me figure that one out. Highly recommend. Great for walking around. I work in a school and do a lot of walking. My feet still feel good at the end the day when I wear these shoes.

My first pair of Birkenstocks and I am thinking about buying another pair; they are so comfortable. They do run large, though. I had read other posts so was aware of this and ordered a size smaller than I normally would wear, which turned out to be just perfect: I normally wear a 9.5 medium; these are a 39, and I've tightened the strap to the last. These sandals are great for summer. I've worn them almost every day since they arrived. Zappos has always been outstanding, and delivery is amazingly fast, sometimes overnight.

Have worn Birks for many years, these are a very comfortable sandal, they do not move around on your foot; however, they do run a size larger though. I had to exchange them for a smaller size, which was no problem for Zappos. I have been shopping with them for more years than I care to remember and I have never had a problem with them ever. More companies should take a page from their book.

I am a devotee of Birkenstocks so I knew that the footbed would fit just fine. The problem is that I can't seem to get the strap adjusted quite right. I need to be able to buckle it in between where I have it. Consequently, they are either too loose or too tight. I have raised a small blister on the top of my foot from them. I am not sure the strap will break in any because they are not leather. However, this was a screamin' deal for Birkies and they are very cute. I will wear them for short periods of time and see if they break in.

I needed a pair of "backup" Birks while my other pair were in the shop being rehabbed. I didn\'t want to spend another $120, so I compromised with these. They are a little harder to keep on since they have one strap instead of 2 or 3, but I really like them. The simulated patent has bumped them up into the category of "dress Birk\'s). I don\'t think they look quite as dowdy as regular Birk\'s can, but they still feel good on your feet. Very happy with my purchase.

I had never heard of Zappos. I was searching for shoes online and ran itno them. The price was right and I love Birkenstock, I had been looking for this style. Of course Zappos had them. I ordered them around 2:00 PM and received them the very next day.

I love these shoes! I have had other Birkes but these are the cutest. They remind me of old time Dr. Scholls in appearance. Very comfortable!!! Feel great the moment you slip them on!! It's like walking in bare feet, but better because they have a great arch!! I absolutely, positively love these shoes!

For someone who doesn't can't stand thong flip-flops, this is the perfect sandal! You can use them for casual, or even step (pardon the pun) it up to business casual/night on the town. Excellent arch support; the only thing, is that they're quite loud, but who cares.

These are so comfy. I work on my feet and these keep my feet cool and well-supported. I was surprised when I got home that my feet and legs felt so comfortable after a day on my feet. Will buy more! And I'm so glad you carry narrow sizes!

I own already 5 pairs of Birkenstocks, and with this one it will be more to my collection. These shoes are so great that even my sisters are buying them (they thought these shoes were orthopedic). They probably started as orthopedic and did not look good, but lately these shoes are trendy.

 |  | I couldn't wait until these sandals arrived as they were a birthday gift for my oldest daughter. She had pointed them out to me so I tried to remember as much information about them. I managed to grab the last pair (at that time) in the color and size she wears. Boy, was she surprised and ecstatic I had bought them for her. She wears them daily and tells me they are the most comfortable sandals she's ever had. I must thank Zappos, the friendly and courteous staff for expediting delivery at no cost for these to be enjoyed so quickly. Because of the excellent service and prices, we returned to do more shopping. Again, I was able to snag the last pair of Adidas running shoes for my other daughter, who is off to college and I insisted she needed to wear comfortable, supportive shoes as getting around campus involves a lot of walking. She found them, but was afraid they would be sold before I had a chance to obtain them. Boy, was she ever surprised when the UPS guy showed up with a gift package for her the next day! Additionally, that same day I bought five items for my other daughter and myself, which also arrived the next day. Thank you for making so many products affordable in these trying financial times!
