I have been waiting for my son to wear out his other brand of tennis shoes so I could get him a pair of New Balance; wow, you guys at Zappos are awesome, we live 1,300 miles from each other so it was so cool for him to pick out the shoe on line, which he received the very next day! Thanks, I will return again and again.

Good cushioning, very heavy on support, good for pronators. Thick sole, good for running on flat surfaces (roads), not so good for uneven surfaces (grass etc) where it feels the foot is too high off the ground and could twist easily. Very good at dealing with sweat (Florida, hot and humid).

Great product. Excellent support and stability. Zappos is great, too, because they have size 12.5 shoes. Very hard to find that size and Zappos has it. Awesome!

I've been buying these shoes (NB 800-900 series) for a reason. They maintain shape and sole structure for over nine months of moderate to hard use. I run soft earth and rocky trails keeping the concrete to a minimum, although I live in Philadelphia and obviously run on concrete often while reaching my preferred surfaces and locales. They last and offer excellent stability through the contact surface. Find them on discount and buy them up.
Other brands recommended by reviewer: etnies for street tread(not running), vasque for winter hiking.

These sneakers were a gift from me to my father and he loved them so much he bought another pair for his beach house. They are super comfy and perfect for extremely narrow feet.

I recently purchased the New Balance 859 from Zappos, and use them for daily routine wear and light regular walking exercise(in rotation with other athletic shoes) . I found that I had to order 1/2 size larger than my normal sizing in New Balance shoes. I find the shoe light, very comfortable, apparently well made, as well as stylish. I like the sizing, design, comfort, and quality of New Balance shoes, and the customer service of Zappos was excellent.

Shoes feel great, the top where the toes are located is a little wide, but other than that it’s good. Can't go wrong with these shoes, they are super light too.

The shoe looks nice and the heel fits well and feels supportive, but the toebox of these shoes are not as wide as other NB shoes I have worn (4E). Maybe the new style is wider.

Great shoes. Very comfortable. Good arch support for sneakers. Wide cut toe box. (I have hard to fit feet.) I recommend these sneaks for someone with wide feet, and to anyone else they might fit.

Best buying experience and a shoe that really fits well -
With a narrow foot, I am always looking for shoes that fit well, and don't often find them. My old pair of running shoes, which I use on a treadmill and for walking, wore out, so I called the running shoe specialist at Zappos and shared my request. I also wanted a shoe that would not rub on my ankle. She researched the inventory and came back with several recommendations, and the NM MR859 was first on the list. and my size - 11.5B - was available. They arrived a few days later. Out of the box, they fit perfectly and have felt comfortable ever since.

Could be better -
Nice subdued styling (rare for running shoes), but this one comes up just a bit short on performance for me. This is definitely a higher end stability shoe, and if you need a lot of that then this shoe is worth checking out. I think for myself however...at 5'6" and 160 lbs...I would have liked a little less stability, a touch more cushioning, and a little less weight. The new 850 perhaps...?

These are average for running shoes from NB (all I wear). They are a little wide for the average foot so there’s a lot of movement when running which result in hot spots.

Still a great shoe and value.
My first New Balance (756) shoes were purchased about 3 years ago. They are still going strong and are now used for yard work. Well pleased with my New Balance MR859. Work out 3 times a week + other walking for a total of about 4 miles.

A plush, solid ride. High-end fit and looks, but you do pay for it. Came faster than expected. Great buyer experience.

Could have a little more cushioning, but VERY stable. There is room to accommodate inserts, and I would suggest an arch-support insert if you need it.

The New Balance MR859 is a very comfortable shoe. Sizing was good, fits very well. I'm in health care and on my feet all day without fail, and have yet to go home with sore tired legs and feet.

There was one version of this line of strong-stability, roomy toe box shoes that was a bit too plodding, but the 858 was a return to form. I have used these since 851 (interspersed with other New Balance and other shoes -- I do a bit of running), and can recommend the 859. If you need a lot of stability and/or are on the heavier side, but still want a shoe with some consideration for running, I recommend the NB 859. Grey and silver is not flashy, but clean looking and, hey, you are supposed to be running.

Love this shoe! I have trained and run many marathons in this shoe. Just enough support and tight enough across toe box. Great look too with some new colors.

I am always pleasently surprised by Zappos wonderful customer service...let me tell ya it’s fabulous!!!! These shoes were for my father, he was in need of a wide width shoe and this one was it...although I had to try other brands of shoes and return many other brands these were finally the fit that my father was looking for!

The worst!
I usually buy New Balance for the comfort and extra width. These shoes are not comfortable. They made my feet ache! Maybe this pair is defective. I put my old, worn out shoes on and my feet felt better! I love New Balance but this is the worst shoe I've worn.

Cushy update -
I have been running in the 850 series for several years and find this update to have a more plush ride and supportive feel than previous models. I'm not wild about the color, more grey than silver, but they are a pleasure to my feet.

Bought these shoes just before a 5 day trip to Disney Parks in Florida. Walked in them 5 days for approx. 12 hr/day. Ordered a size 9, 4E due to wide flat feet. No breaking in needed, feet felt great. Highly recommend.

I ordered this shoe for my grandson who usually wears a 13EEEE shoe. Shoes usually do not fit him well but he wanted to try this one. We placed the order on Saturday and had the shoe on Monday. He says it is the most comfortable shoe he has ever worn. He loved the look and said as soon as he put it on, it felt good. He wears orthotics in his shoe and there was no problem.
