I love these sneakers. I like the colors, the retro look, the fit, the price. People are jealous. The arch support isn't great, but I use inserts. Those help.

These shoes are awesome. I have many pairs of NBs and 3 pairs of the 455. I would highly recommend these to anyone. As with most NBs, these are very true to fit as compared with other styles. They also come in a variety of color combinations.

I used to buy New Balance a few years ago, but I would buy the regular trail-running shoe style and they would always fall apart. I swore not to buy another pair of New Balance and for some years, I didn't. Then they brought in the retro look. I first bought the limited edition, suede 574s and absolutely loved them. I wore them for nearly 6 years until they started to look run down and the fabric inside the shoe started to rip. I looked at every shoe store within a 20 mile radius of my home (approximately 15-20 different stores) and couldn't find anything similar. Any shoe that had that retro look would be neon colored like I was back in the 80s. I searched the internet and found some of the 574s elsewhere, but I didn't want to buy the exact same shoe that I've been wearing for 6 years. Finally, I turned to Zappos. Right away I found the U455s and I had to buy them. I was a little leery about buying shoes online since you never know if they're going to fit and then having to deal with the hassle of shipping them back. After reading Zappos' policies, I felt that this was the safest bet to get a shoe that I want and can't find in the stores. Upon arrival, they were perfect. They fit great, look great, and I couldn't ask for a better online shopping experience. There were only a few minor downsides, but nothing to make me regret buying. First, I was expecting the same kind of suede I had on my old 574s. This shoe almost has a leathery feel instead of the soft furry like feeling of the suede I'm used to. Second, the shoe laces are a little short. I usually tie my shoes real loose so I can slip them on and off. I have to tie these laces into a tiny bow where the plastic tips are the only thing that's left after tying the bow and I can't double-knot them. Lastly, the toe is a little narrower than what the 574s had. I really liked the 574s fat toe, lots of wiggle room but don't get me wrong, these 455s have plenty of room too, just not as wide looking. All in all, this is a fantastic shoe and my experience with Zappos was top notch. I hope after reading my novel of a review (if you made it this far) you will heed my advice and let loose any fears of ordering shoes online from Zappos. I will be a loyal customer from now on and vow to only buy shoes from this website. Keep up the good work Zappos!

This is my 1st time trying New Balance and I really like it. It's as comfortable as I expected, and I'm also very satisfied how it looks. However, only con is that I picked up blue/red pair but actual shoes aren't as blue as it appears in picture. No big deal though. I also want to comment on shipping. Zappos upgraded my shipping from basic to next day for free! And I can't believe how fast I got the package. Thank you Zappos! This site is serious business.

These shoes are disappointing. I usually love NB shoes, but these are flimsy and don't feel like they stay on my feet, no matter how tight I tie them. I even got a 1/2 size smaller than usual, and they are still too long. They are stylish, but not comfortable at all.

I own the gray/turquoise/navy pair and the brown/yellow pair and they are pretty comfortable. I always switch out all my New Balance classic shoes with memory foam insoles so that helps a lot. One thing I like about these shoes is that they are somewhat wider than normal D's and the sole is thicker/taller so my jeans don't get caught underneath the shoes when I'm walking which happens a lot with my New Balance U420s & M410s . Also the Lego pattern on the bottom is good for walking, etc., though I wouldn't really run in these, but weights and walking they're good for.

Zappos knows about servicing its customers. If I have to buy shoes or anything else online, Zappos is the site that I go to. No doubt about it.

Overall, I was disappointed with the U455. I got the grey, teal, and navy ones. The color doesn’t look good in reality. I’m a male, and these shoes are really light and feminine looking. I was hoping they’d be a bit darker. The comfort level is also not good. Just because they’re 70s style shoes does not mean you need to build them to 70s standards. I was hoping for a bit more cushioning and support, but there is basically none for this shoe. New Balance is my favorite brand for shoes, but these didn’t cut it.

I ordered the Brown/Mustard U455s. The color was pretty accurate, but they were a little bit lighter brown than what the picture shows. I am caught in between a size 12 and 13 and I feel these run a little big as the size 13 were bigger than most size 13s fit on me. Cool looking and pretty comfy.

I bought the orange/beige shoes for my boyfriend for his birthday. He has an eclectic style consisting of mostly vintage t-shirts and colorful shoes. These shoes were perfect for him, although they look a bit different from the picture shown. The yellow is more like a fluorescent yellowish-green, which we think is awesome. He normally wears a size 11 shoe, but in New Balance he wears a 10.5, so they run a bit big. Overall, he really loves it!

I've been wanting a pair of these sneakers for a while now and I finally caved. I purchased the yellow/beige style. The yellow is more of a bright lime and the beige has a greenish tint to it as well. The back of the sneaker is black. If I had those colors in my wardrobe, I'd be set. Unfortunately this is not the case for me so I had to return them. Overall fit however was fine. Length was perfect, width was a "shmedium" but I have a narrow foot.
