Very comfortable...good support, I wear at 12 and its a tad large but I will keep them. No rubbing on the heels, I will put my orthotics in for extra support (I have a bone spur) I think I could walk in them for hours without my feet hurting!

This was the first time I have tried a Columbia shoe. It is wonderful! True to size, width and good arch support. I've worn them several times when I was on my feet all day. Feet and legs feel great!! Good support. I'll try other Columbia shoes. I've mainly worn New Balance in the past. I have a long narrow foot [12AA]. Generally need a Med. width when wearing a sock, true with the Gaia. Great service from Zappos...free shipping is a real bonus.

Very comfortable walking/hiking shoe -
This is essentially a low, fairly light hiking boot; really extremely comfortable for walking; and, for what it is, quite sharp looking.

Not Columbia's best -
I have had countless pairs of Columbia shoes - and loved them all. Comfortable, no break in period, rugged and they last.
Until the Gaia. The seam along the tongue is torture. I have hobbled home several times now. I kept wearing them hoping they would 'break in' but no such luck. The seam squeezing the top of my foot is agonizing - and am throwing away an expensive pair of shoes because the pain isn't worth the money.

 | | I want you to know how pleased I am that my dad received his shoes so quickly! He got them today. I am amazed! He is a patient at the VA hospital in Denver. He is a WWll combat veteran who lost his leg after stepping on a land mine. Recently, he was taken to the VA hospital because no one at his present home could care for him. He was sick, malnourished, and to add insult to injury, could not use his prosthetic leg because it caused a sore on his amputated stump. To shorten a long story, he had no shoes with him with which to begin learning to use his new prosthesis. I ordered them Saturday as soon as I hung up talking with him and he received them today. Now he can begin the long journey to regain his stride and health. He will be returning to the east coast of Virginia to be with family. My sincerest thanks for helping my dad recover and come home to me. Barbara I. | | ~ Barbara I., September 29 2009
