Buy a half size larger! I only wear New Balance and this style is a half size small. Other than that love this shoe! Fit is great and has better traction than my mountain boots.

Shoes are very lightweight; great traction over any terrain. I use them exclusively for trails which includes rocks, sand, mud, roots, etc. no slip at all. I buy them 2 at a time.

Although the MT840 are sold as "Trail" shoes, they are very light - perhaps too light. The soles are quite thin and there is little toe or heel protection. If your trails often involve rocky surfaces, they will be uncomfortable.

I am very pleased with the sneakers. They are exactly what I was looking for. Please keep in mind that they run a bit big or it seems so to me. As for Zappos.com service. It's superb. Literally next day arrival on two consecutive orders. Zappos service is excellent!

I just climbed Mt. Washington with these shoes after a 2 day break in period. They are extremely light and I wasn't sure if they would suffice for this 4300 ft, 4.1 mile hike, but they worked great. They were comfortable and the traction was great; we were on some wet and slopped rocks and these did not slip. I am an experienced and semi-in shape distance hiker so my ankles are somewhat strong. I liked the no break in period. I was torn between these and more substantial trail shoes as I am a subscriber to the ultra-light philosophy for hiking. I am taking them on a two day hike this coming weekend. They aren't waterproof, but they probably will dry quickly. Your legs will thank you for hiking in such light shoes! If they don't hold up over time I will be getting the 620's. I can't imagine using my two pairs of boots now unless just for camping!

Great comfortable shoe as everyone else has said order a half size bigger. I am about 6'3 and 300lbs and I can walk in these shoes all day with out feeling like I need to put some crocks on. They breathe great so no hot feet either.

Great, lightweight and comfortable shoe that wokrs for me as an all-purpose, wearable design. I love this shoe. Very comfortable, though it runs a bit small and I had to jump up almost a full size. I tried on a 10 but too small and almost narrow on my foot. Returned for a 10.5 and all is well. This shoe breaths very well also due to porous material. Will buy second pair very soon.

This is a great shoe. I was a bit suspicious at first when they said that it had some grip however\r\nit exceeded all my expectations. After one week I was hooked.

These 840s are awesome, like floating on air. I wish the shoes would have been a bit wider. 2e is as wide as they come, but they are flexible and comfortable. They are great to walk distances in. The appearance is fantastic, people look at them when you walk by. I would give them ten out of ten. Go Zappos, the only place for a guy with big feet to shop.

Purchased the previous model specifically to replace my trail running shoes. I used them for training and running 50K trail races, very nice shoe. I ended up using them as my winter trainer and ran Marine Corp Marathon in them as well. They do run about a half size small. Buying another pair because I like them so much.

I purchased these shoes for a biking/hiking trip in South Dakota. After 8 days of cycling and hiking I can that this is a terrific buy. Would I buy them again? Yes!

Great shoe! Weird fit.
I typically wear an 11 with NB, but after ordering an 11 I realized that it wasn't going to work with this shoe. Instead I ordered an 11.5 wide which I have never worn a wide before and oddly enough it fit like a glove. The shoe grips the trail perfectly and have yet to have any complications. Will be hiking Mt. Fuji in August with these.

Most comfortable shoe I have run in. If you like a flexible shoe with great ground contact - this is it. Not for running on hard pack trails though - better in terrain with some cushion. Very durable. I had to order a half size larger because of the shoe last.

Not a true trail shoe; designed for running on grass -
I bought this shoe for trail running, and it’s woefully under cushioned in the impact area. I felt every root, rock, and twig. I kept this shoe for casual use because I like the style and it is comfortable for walking... I will look elsewhere for a performance trail shoe.

Awesome, light weight, and aggressive trail runner -
These are great trail runners. If you like a lighter shoe and are more of a mid foot runner these shoes are awesome. The tread is super aggressive. These shoes felt great on the first run. I had to get a 12.5 when I normally wear a 12.

Great shoe, but be careful about width -
I ordered this shoe in an 11 2E... which is my dress shoe size and usual athletic shoe size. As other reviews have said, they run about a 1/2 size small and if you have wider than average feet, the 2Es may not be wide enough. I really liked how light they were and the traction on the bottom. I wish I could've ordered them in a 11.5 4E, but nothing was available.

Little bit louder than expected -
Shoe fits well, true to size for myself, I wear a 10 1/2 in other New Balance shoes, and it was true to size with this shoe. My only setback was that it was a little too loud, the yellow really shows up more than expected, but if that is not a problem, then this is your shoe!! Same comfort and fit as a NB shoe. OVERALL A GOOD SHOE!

This is a great shoe and fits my wide feet really well. I bought them initially for an indoor volleyball shoe which it really isn’t suited for, but does well with its good cushioning. It doesn’t provide very good traction though. However, it is a great trail shoe and I love going on runs with it. Excels on both road and dirt running. Would definitely buy again (although not for a volleyball shoe ;) Fits great, nice and wide Orange and blue looks cool. Has held up really well. NB FTW.

Very slipper like feel. Allows your foot to conform to uneven ground unlike a traditional running shoe. Sticky sole. Very comfortable and true to size. As a bonus people seem to really like the look.

Great shoe!!
This is a great looking shoe, the only problem I had was that it ran a little small, so I would suggest a 1/2 size bigger. I wear 10 1/2 in Nike and other NB shoes, but needed an 11 in this shoe. I would strongly recommend this shoe with no reservations. Nothing but great comments from others. They are little flashy, so if you’re not into a yellow shoe, this may not be for you.

Lightweight Trail Runner -
Lightweight, breathable trail runner. Minimal arch support and as typical with trail shoes, not a lot of cushion front or back. Good grip on loose surfaces. New Balance's new laces resist untying.

I loved the look of these sneakers, but they were way too narrow for my foot. I ordered them in a size 9 with DD width, but they were so tight on my feet when I got them. I was disappointed. I ended up giving them to my partner whose shoe size is one less my own. He is very satisfied with them. So I guess, except for the sizing issues, they're pretty good.

Pretty OK shoes -
I really liked the style of the shoe. The comfort and feel is another story. I am used to wearing Nike shoes of the same sort. Nikes gave great support in the arch, fit well as far as width goes, and had a great wide stable sole. These are things that the New Balance shoes don’t offer to me. Keep in mind that everyone’s foot is different. If you have a narrow foot like me, these shoes may not be the best choice. I am still going to keep the shoes. They fit well enough, even if they aren’t my old Nikes.

 |  | Dear Zappos, Okay, help me understand something. I place an on-line order last evening at about 8:00. I screw up how to use my store credit and can’t figure out how to fix it. I resort to calling your toll free number to fix my stupid mistake and expect to be on hold for at least 20 minutes. Wow is all I can say! A real live person answers the phone in two rings after I debated with myself whether or not to press the option for joke of the day. He corrects my problem and even makes the decision to not charge my credit card for the less than $2 difference between my store credit and the amount due for the running shoes I ordered. On top of this, the shoes were sitting on my doorstep tonight after I came home from work. I even wore them for my evening workout. How dare you do this in less than 20 hours after my mistake! You just set the customer service pole vault bar at 37 feet in my book! Terrific, terrific service. Thank you very much! I now consider myself a customer for life. You all will have to work very hard to make me buy a pair of shoes from another company. I’m new to Zappos and you can bet I will be looking to Zappos for other purchases! Many thanks... my next order will be tomorrow evening so I can surprise my wife with a new pair of Berks she wants, but actually needs... it isn’t always good to want things!
