I have both the brown and black Bostonian Tuscana. I work in field sales for an industrial supply company in NYC, so I find myself at high value corporate locations as well as the trenches of construction sites. These shoes have plenty of old school cap toe oxford sophistication, as well as an athletic sole which gives miles of comfortable walking. I walk 18 holes every day in Manhattan, that's 7200 yards, or about 4 miles in these puppies. No problem. Required kit for urban assault.

The other reviews have it right. I bought these so that I would have dress shoes I could wear on a day to day basis, around town, and so forth. I have a nicer pair of Florsheim black oxfords, reserved for formal occasions, job interviews, and the like. But these are very comfortable, durable, and handsome. The leather is true to the appearance in the photo. To me it has a bit of a vinyl-esque look, but that's probably just me. More of a matte than glossy leather, so although handsome, truly elegant they are not.

These shoes are outstanding. I first purchased it in a Bostonian store. When I experienced how comfortable they are and needed to replace a few years later, I looked for them again but the Bostonian store in the mall had closed. I was SO happy when I found them online at Zappos! I would normally not buy shoes without trying them on, but these shoes are truly comfortable from the first time I wear them. For men with a slightly wider foot and who walk a lot, this really is the best dress shoe! And it's made in Italy!! You don't see that too much these days.

Not a spiffy dress shoe for wear with a suit, but a very comfortable everyday shoe for work in anything less than a suit. The styling is plain with a noticeably thick heel & sole. Very padded opening. You can walk miles in these shoes right out of the box. They are bound to be durable.

Comfort and good looks -
I have worn Rockports most of my recent working life because they were so comfortable when I had to roam the warehouse floor. These shoes are more comfortable than any similar style I have worn and the looks are great. The brown is a great color for more formal work dress and the shoe is comfortable to wear when I can be more casual. It is a great shoe and I would get it again.

Great dress casual shoe -
I agree with other reviewers, this shoe is well made and felt good as soon as I put it on. I like to have a rubber sole shoe for wet weather days or days I may need to be on my feet all day long and these fit the bill well. They have a look of a dress shoe, but comfort of the rubber sole. Bostonian is much better than others that look similar in other brands.

Nice Shoes!
These shoes are very comfortable and they look great. If you are looking for a cap toed lace up, you will be hard pressed to find a better shoe. I like the fact that they are made in Italy.

Impressed with Bostonian -
After a short break in period, I was very impressed with Bostonian. It is comfortable for me for about 12 hours. I bought the shoe for the thick rubber sole, due to the Ohio weather. My Rockports that I bought before are great, but they had a leather sole. Not good in wet/cold weather for me. Since I bought these I have yet to get cold or wet in normal winter city walking.

Practical and Comfortable -
This is a great shoe - I wear a size 14, so comfort and fit are paramount. While the look is pretty basic, the fit and value make the difference.

Heavy but great fit -
The shoes were a lot heavier than I expected but when I put them on they felt great. They are a little less "dressy" than I thought. The arch support is excellent and I feel it as my previous shoes were not giving me support.

Disappointed -
I've been wearing these shoes for several days and have noticed two big problems.
First, after several hours, the insole is 50-75% soaked in sweat. And this is the dead of winter in Ohio, where temps have been ranging from 0-30 degrees F. The toe area especially gets soaked and makes these shoes very uncomfortable; it feels like my toes are rubbing around on sandpaper because of the change in texture of the insole. I am not a heavy sweater, but I probably sweat a bit more than the average man. Still, this problem should not exist.
Second, these shoes are conducive to building up static electricity. Since I started wearing these shoes, I have been getting shocked many times during the day.
Now to the positives: the shoes are decent looking, fit well, clean up easily and are built like a tank. They should hold up longer than the average dress shoe under daily wear conditions, which is why I bought them.
I am very happy with Zappos service and selection, but unfortunately am not happy with these Bostonians.

It is a good multi-use shoe -
I'm on my feet 9 hours a day. They held up well. At one year Still in good shape. I did need to replace the insole a week ago. I'm going to order the same thing. Very happy with it.

Built to last -
These shoes survived two years of dirt, mud, water, and walking 15+ miles a day on streets and roads made of rocks. If they got muddy/wet, I just cleaned them off and polished them up again and they kept on trucking. Of course under such conditions I did have to put new soles on them after about a year and a half, but the leather held up without getting holes or anything, even the laces lasted such brutal treatment. So if you plan on using these for "regular" white collar work, I'm sure they will last for a long, long time. They are comfortable, too, although I did get blisters on the backs of my feet, but then I was walking around in them for 10-12 hours a day.

Nice shoe, a little narrow in the toe -
When I first took these out of the box, I immediately tried them on. They felt really good and I loved the look. I left town and didn't wear them for about a week. When I returned, I wore the shoes the next day and they felt really tight around the front of my foot. Hopefully they'll stretch out with time because they are a very well-made, attractive shoe.

Disappointed -
I wanted to like these shoes more than I did. I find the uppers very handsome, and the all-leather lining was very nicely done - overall it seemed like a great value. They seemed a little narrow at first, and took some breaking in, but were very comfortable afterward.
But, after 6 months of weekday wear, the soles and heel are falling apart - all worn out and cracked through in several places. Granted, I weight 250 and walk 1.5 miles each day, but my previous everyday shoe lasted nearly 2 years. The uppers look brand-new without ever having been polished.
A decent shoe, but the sole/heel isn't up to snuff.

Great Entry Level Shoe -
I would suggest this shoe to anyone looking for their first real business casual black shoe. I have had the pair I own resoled twice now as it is very difficult to find shoes that are this comfortable, and at the price point it's really hard to match. My only gripe would be that once the sole begins to fall apart (it really would benefit from a solid rubber sole instead of the more orthopedically amenable one it comes with) You have to replace it but will find replacements do not attach as well as they would with non-rubber soled shoes.
Otherwise, a great purchase for any college students or young adults out for their first pair of really quality shoes, will never hurt your feet in these!

Fantastic buy!
I received this shoe in brown less than 24 hours after ordering. It felt perfect right out of the box! It looks mighty spiffy, shines up fairly decently, and is most certainly worth the coin to pick up. I'm planning on buying the black pair pretty soon.

Cheap shoe -
This shoe fits great, has good support and is comfortable, but the quality of the sole and interior of the shoe leaves something to be desired. The sole squeaks on tile floors and has developed a ridge down the middle of the left shoe from my clutch pedal. The interior of the toe area also is completely falling apart.
The shoe still looks great after 6 months and is still comfortable, but it's really falling apart. Other shoes in this price range that I've tried were much more durable, just as comfortable, and had better quality.

 | | Hi there Zappos, I just got my tracking number for a jacket I ordered yesterday, went to the UPS website and saw that it was out for delivery. After placing dozens of orders through Zappos, processing a few returns, and contacting customer service by phone a few times, one would think that my overwhelming love of you guys would wear off. But, it hasn't; it only gets more intense with every positive experience (which has been each and every Zappos experience I've had). Anyway, I think you should have a testimonial submission function on your site I would probably fill one out after every order. Thanks so much for having such solid, customer-forward practices, for making things so easy, and for having the best customer service on or off the internet. | | ~ Mimi G., October 19 2009
