Nice hiking shoe -
I ordered the size 10 for my normally wide-width size 10 feet with bunions and flat-footedness. I can say that I've worn the shoes a few times to go hiking already, and they feel great. Great traction, arch-support, and comfort. The fit is snug at the middle of my foot, which gives great hold and stability, but it is roomy in the toe, which is perfect for my bunion. I even went wading in a stream with them, and no blisters ensued. I will definitely buy this brand in the future.

Comfort and Style -
My Red by Marc Ecko sneakers wore out, and they stopped making that style, so I was looking for a replacement. I walk every day and do some light hiking, so I needed a comfortable, durable shoe. I also demand style - I wouldn't be caught dead wearing boring white sneakers. I plugged "red" and "trail running" into the search, and was impressed by the Salomon's style and excellent reviews. I wasn't disappointed. The shoes have been comfortable from the get-go, and I like the easy-lacing. I ordered a half-size larger than my dress shoe size, because I knew I'd be wearing these with athletic socks. They are roomy in the toes, with good arch support. My right foot is smaller, so the heel does slip a tiny bit, but I haven't gotten a single blister from these. My one very minor quibble is that I haven't been able to hook the extra lace, so it flopped around until I decided to tuck the fastener behind the tongue of the shoe. I would definitely buy another pair.

My favorite... the best!
I have severe arthritis, huge bunions, and flat feet. It is difficult for me to find shoes that fit properly, look good, and don't make me want to take them off and burn them when I'm done walking in them. This is my 4th pair of Salomons. I walk 3-6 miles a day in them.

These are the best shoes ever!
I bought these shoes in Alaska because I thought I would need them for hiking/general outdoor activity. I expected to need a shoe with a little extra grip. Needless to say, I wear them ALL THE TIME. Not only do they look good enough to wear around town, but I also run, hike, and walk in them. They are SUPER comfortable and REALLY easy to lace up as well!!!

Best shoe EVER – can't take it off!!! These have hardly left my feet since they arrived. Truly feel they were custom made for me. I'm very picky about arch support, and these are perfect in that respect. I love, love, love the lacing system – you know, when you'd like to change from shorts to long pants but you hate to deal with removing and re-lacing your shoes? This lacing system eliminates that. Plus, you NEVER have to worry about it coming unlaced while you're walking/running. All this, without sacrificing accuracy of fit. Having never tried the brand before, I ordered four pairs of the Salomon brand from Zappos, thinking I'd pick the best one; I kept three pairs!!! As to fit: I wear thick Thorlos with my regular size; if you plan to wear thinner socks you may want to go down a half size. The toe box is very generous but the rest of your foot is held so firmly that this ends up being protective of your toenails when going downhill.

Long-distance hikers!
I do a lot of long-distance day hiking and do not care for big, clunky boots. After trying many brands of hiking shoes over the years these are by far the best. These got me 20 miles on a mountainous rugged trail, my feet were still happy after 8 hours of continuous hiking. These are a little more than I typically spend but are worth every penny!

I love the feel of a hiking boot on my foot and these shoes have that fill without the bulk. You can actually feel the arch support and your heel is hugged for just the right feel of comfort and support you'll ever need.
Other shoes recommended by reviewer: I would recommend this shoe as well as the New Balance 992.

My husband and I are going to France for three months and plan on doing some hiking. I ordered 10 pairs each for both of us of different brands and styles. My husband found this shoe in the mens first then I ordered after I THOUGHT I had found my favorite in my bunch and loved them. They have great arch support but not too firm. They are light weight and don't feel clunky like so many of the other hiking shoes. I love Zappos.

Having a few pairs of XAs, I purchased these for a different color, wore them right out of the box at a dog agility trial a sport which involves running and turning on various terrains, they were great; a big more padding and spring than regular XAs and found them to be comfortable all day.

A shame...
Great shoe, all except for the way it hits my ankle bone, I guess. If it were just cut out a bit more there, it would be perfect. But I'm afraid it will rub there, and it's too expensive for me to want to be "broken in," since it's never the shoes that get broken in, it's always my foot... Zappos is awesome, as usual! Will keep trying!
