The fit of this shoe is not as good as other Brooks models in the past. The heel is a little loose, but overall, I found a size that would work. Zappos is a great merchandiser to work with.

These shoes are so comfortable! These shoes are awesome. I am just buying my second pair so I will have them slightly broken in before my marathon in a couple weeks. I have trained in them for over the past two months after having some toenail issues from a too small toe box on a competing shoe. The toe box is nice and wide which makes this a comfortable shoe for distance running. I have not used it for shorter runs as I like to mix it up depending on my distances but it is amazingly comfortable. I definitely recommend it if you do or are thinking about getting into longer distance running.

I have just purchased the second pair of these shoes in less than a month. I am a nurse and have one pair for work and another for home. I recently had surgery for plantar fasciitis and have a very wide foot. These shoes are true to the D width and accommodate my orthotic at the same time. They are very supportive to my high arch even without my orthotic. In the last 2 months I also bought a pair of Asics and much prefer the Brooks Defyance 2. I only wish they came in a few more colors.

The toe box on the Defyance seems wider than on previous Brooks I've had. Good breathability. Decent fit and nice cushion.

I thought these were the right shoe for me, but I guess not. I bought these in late June at a sneaker store that specializes in finding the right sneaker for your foot problem. I have wide feet and under-pronate, which makes it a problem for my feet to be comfortable. I\'m also overweight and started getting back into working out last year after being lazy for a couple of years. I noticed that the outside bottom of my feet would hurt (like an aching pain) after 10 minutes on either the elliptical, arc-trainer, or spin bike with my old sneakers so I got these. My feet felt a little better. I still felt the pain on the outside bottom of my feet, but it didn\'t come as soon. Then I got into running. At the urging of my trainer, I agreed to run a 5K race, which for the non-runner requires training. For the past 4 weeks I\'ve been alternating running and walking for about 45 minutes, 4 to 5 times a week. Every time after I would run a minimum of 3 minutes at a time, the outside bottom of my feet and my heels would kill me. I also noticed that I had knee pain, which with me running 4 days a week felt like it would last for days. I also woke up with super sore feet. Maybe I should have gotten a half a size larger than I normally wear to account for feel swelling or maybe these just aren\'t for overweight people. Sorry!

Great comfy shoe that fits my wide feet! I had ordered a different pair of Brooks, but they were not a wide enough shoe. Customer service was great and helped me exchange for what I needed! I got these shoes the very next day! Zappos rocks!

After literally purchasing and returning about 10 pairs of athletic shoes, I finally found the pair! I have problem feet so this is no small feat (pun intended). While I have a long and narrow foot, I decided to order 5 pairs in Wide width and 1/2 size up to accommodate my orthotics and socks. This was the pair that won. And they look great, not like a geriatric shoe.

Great fitting shoe. the only potential problem I could have with it is that the toe box is a little big, so I'm developing a small blister on the side of my big toe.

I would highly recommend these shoes to anyone who runs a lot and is looking for a quality shoe. They were recommended to me by a sales person at the Philadelphia Running Store and it is my 2nd pair.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this shoe. I have a wide foot and these just felt very comfortable from the get go - virtually NO break in period. Nice looking, comfortable - great support in my opinion. I will say I don\'t think I\'ve ever worn over a size 7 in regular shoes and I took a 7.5 in these, which I\'m finding is not uncommon to need a larger size in athletic shoes. I would buy these again!\r\n\r\nI am a new customer to Zappos but I WILL be a return customer. I am extremely impressed with their selection, customer service, quick delivery VERY quick delivery and free shipping. It did take me a couple tries with other shoes including Nikes and ASICs before I found the right one and I never would have thought that possible online that it would be easy and not painful. Thanks Zappos. You made a believer in me.\r\n

Great shoe -
I really like these shoes. I have wide feet, plantar facitis, bunions and flat arches. It is a real pain (pun not intended) to find shoes for these feet if mine. This shoe has a nice wide toe box, fabric in the area of my bunions doesn't cause any pressure on them. I feel balanced when I walk, the inside of the shoe is soft and very comfortable. My orthotics fit nicely inside the shoes. I bought another pair after I received my first pair.

Once again, Zappos comes through...
First, the shoe is great. Perfect running shoe for a neutral foot. Made on the same bed as the Brooks "Radius". Second, I have to compliment Zappos once again. I ordered the wrong shoe around 1p.m. eastern time. I realized my mistake around 10p.m., called Zappos and they intercepted the delivery. The correct shoe was at my door THE NEXT DAY! This was done all at no charge to me. I actually got to speak to a person who was friendly and accommodating. How many companies can you say that about?

Too much of a breeze on toes -
I have high-ish arches, but a history of foot injuries so either neutral or light weight stability works for me. I am returning them b/c they have a bit less arch support than I need. However, I would recommend as a good one to try as they are pretty comfy.The breathable upper would be nice in spring, but on a 40 degree evening they made my toes cold, even with thicker socks.

SUCH A CUTE AND COMFY SHOE! First of all, the first day I wore these was on a MAJOR holiday shopping trip with a friend - and these did not give me a lick of trouble. The strap needed to be adjusted to a looser fitting as when it was too tight it caused discomfort, but once I loosened it there were no more problems! One thing I love about Danskos is they allow a looser fit than most shoes, so there’s less likelihood of blisters. Not only are these comfy, but as someone with a quirky sense of style (I am usually wearing Vans, Converse or Doc Martens) these shoes, at least in the red, do not scream COMFORT SHOE - rather, they are hip and funky and generate tons of compliments! They’re an equal opportunity shoe, too; I teach high school and my students love them as much as the teachers do. Same goes for the Dansko clog in black patent leather. I love it when I can find cool shoes that are comfortable as well. In fact, I refuse to wear anything else. Dansko is now definitely on my list!
