I am six foot and 270lbs. A big boy. Running for us large fellows is challenging, we tear shoes apart. These are a fantastic shoe and I will be buying them again. Very good support, and very good cushioning. I do a combo of running and walking and these seem suited for both. 30 miles a week and I have so far had them for six months. The Brooks Beast came in a close second for me, but I found these more comfy. To each his own with shoes. Asics seems to build a great shoe and am glad I have found a shoe that works well for us large guys. Zappos as usual is fantastic.

Definitely a very different shoe from the Evolution 3. I agree with the 3-star reviewer on the inside heel pressure -- I\'ve developed a large new callous on my inner heel on both feet from these shoes, which never happened with the Evo-3s. I am also hoping they break in, but they aren\'t the instant comfort of the Evo-3s. Still better than my Brooks Trance, though.\r\n\r\nPretty awful color scheme, though.

I realize running shoe reviews are about as worthless as music reviews because, well, everyone is different. What works for me doesn't for you etc. But anyway. Here goes. I have flat feet and run 10k a day. Came down with bad case of shin splints. I got these and they give me a lot of support since I pronate a lot. Should help with the shin and knee problems.

Firm support -
I selected the Asics shoe after reading websites for running shoe recommendations. The shoe has a firm feel and fits true to size. It does not accommodate an orthotic.

This shoe has brought me back to running -
I heavily researched the type of show I needed for my running style as it was very important that I return to running for exercise but without hurting myself. I've had previous knee and ankle injuries and am slightly overweight now. This show made the transition painless - perfectly designed for my overpronation.

Size 16 narrow -
I am 6'5" 240 lbs. and wear a size 16 Asics. My problem is that I have a very narrow foot/ankle. This particular shoe is snug on my ankle and actually fits much better than the shoes Asics labels narrow. The fit so well I bought two pairs. Great shoes that I'm happy that I found thanks to someone’s review. Enjoy!

I ruptured my right Achilles tendon in 2001 and have been unable to re-develop the strength in my right calf ever since. I've tried various Brooks and Asics running shoes and this is the first shoe in 7 years to properly align my foot so that my right calf is working as it should. My calf muscle is so sore and stiff from my run yesterday and that is a good thing. My muscle is finally working after all of these years!

This shoe is exactly what I needed. I am 6'3". 235lb and run/walk 3.5 miles 6 days per week. This shoe does need some break in time. In fact if you are buying the shoe for casual wear and not for running this may not be the shoe for you. After running for 2 weeks the shoe is even more comfortable. Another plus for me is the narrow width (my foot is B width) and the width is perfect, so you might want to take that into consideration if you have very wide feet.

Great Shoe -
I am 6'6", 220lbs. and I didn't feel pain in a single joint after a 7 mile run, which is nothing short of a miracle. The fit is tight around the midfoot, but not uncomfortably so.
Highly recommended.

Not what I expected -
After using the GEL Evolution 3, I figure that the GEL Evolution 4 would be an improvement. Boy was I wrong. The Evolution 4 does not offer as much cushion as did the 3s. The Evolution 4s did fit my feet better though. The front of them is narrower then the evolution 3s. I will go back to the Gel evolution 3s for sure. Another down fall is the faster that I ran I noticed that my feet seemed to get really hot.

Heel fit -
I really like this shoe but felt an inward pressure on the inside heel. I am hoping it will go away with break in but so far it has remained. If not for that this would be my new favorite.

Superb shoe!
This shoe is amazing. I've always had a problem finding running shoes that worked for me, because unlike most people who need this much support, I'm tall and thin (6'4, 165 lbs max). Needless to say running in shoes like the Brooks Beast is kind of like running in concrete blocks for me. But these are amazing! They're light, they're bouncy, and they keep my pronation under control! The first thing I noticed when I put them on was that they had fantastic heel cups and support through to the arch that really FITS. Very nice. They also look really good for excessive motion control shoes. Needless to say, if you need a LOT of pronation control (if, say, you're like me and an 11 on a scale of 1 - 10) but you want something lighter-weight, more responsive and easier to run in (think speed + distance) than the Beast, this is the shoe. Comparable in price too. I love this shoe! It gave me back my running life.
