Very little breaking in required. I got them the day before leaving for Peru and just wore to the office, very comfortable from the get go. Served me well; kept feet warm and dry through some rainy hiking and cold evenings. Got some unfortunate toe blisters, but I'm not sure how any boot would have handled the constant 6 hours of downhill hiking by day 4 of a hiking trip. Very happy I chose them.

The Merrell Moab Ventilator Mid is awesome, comfortable and has been perfect for hiking the paths that run along the ocean. It's also a perfect fit as my foot is shaped like a box, short and wide, in fact extra wide, and that is hard to find. I usually wear a 7, but after checking out this shoe in a sporting goods store, I settled for 7.5EEE from Zappos, my favorite place to buy shoes!

I am a big guy. This is by far the most comfortable, best utility boot I've ever owned. After 40+ years of trying everything out there, this is the best of the best. Comfort, support, lasts forever, takes a beating, I wear them everyday work and play. Comfort of a sneaker, utility of a work boot, style of a hiking boot, durability of none other. I've been wearing this model for 15 years and keep ordering new ones when I finally destroy the old. I truly hope Merrell never changes nor eliminates the Moab Ventilator Mid. Great boot/shoe, highly recommend it.

These are incredibly comfortable, with good arch support and sturdy construction, as you would expect for a Merrell boot. I wore these hiking around a shopping mall and a theme park, and I have no complaints at all. A very good choice.

I got these shoes for my son who requested them for a hiking expedition throughout Europe this summer. He loves them! They are true to size and extremely comfortable. No breaking in period required. He says they are the nicest shoes he's ever owned. We love the Merrell brand and have bought this brand often. We consider it the best. This was our first time ever using Zappos, and will we use them again? Definitely! They shipped the shoes to us super quick, and we needed them in a rush. Great service, great shoes. Perfect fit. You won't be disappointed!

We bought these boots as a gift for my father-in-law. He loves them! He lives in Arizona and belongs to a hiking club. They are lightweight, and they breathe, a must for hikes in Arizona.

The best, especially with an orthothic brace!!
I wear an ankle foot orthothic device and have searched high and low for the best (most comfortable & well designed) shoes or boots. My long search has ended! These boots are perfect- I got these for summers and another for the rest of the year. Per others' comments, I did get the shoe in size 10 rather than 9,5--they fit just right. Excellent!! Plus, (stating the obvious) the customer service and website is impeccable--why look for shoes anywhere else???

These boots have quickly become my new favorites for warm hikes. They required no break-in to be comfortable, have already proven their durability in the volcanic areas that I prowl. I was happy to have the advice to order 1/2 size large, because they are a good fit with that adaptation.

Bought these boots after reading other's reviews. The fit and finish of these fair priced hiking boots make them some of the best shoes I have ever purchased.Water tight and comfortable first time I put them on.

Excellent shoe for people with wide feet. The most comfortable and supportive I've found for light hiking and I wear them for work (construction) because of the thick rubber soles and ankle support.

First of all, I am very particular about the fit of my shoes. It's hard for me to find shoes that are comfortable. These fit the bill wonderfully. I bought them the week before my brother and I hit the trail for 4 days. So there wasn't even time to break them in. I wanted a light weight, breathable boot with good ankle and arch support. These boots have it all. Honestly, I couldn't have been happier with my purchase.

GREAT BOOT!!!
You need to order this boot 1/2 larger than your normal size. Have been wearing the boot for one month with no problems noted. Boots breathe well and are a great hot weather boot. Have been using them in temperatures ranging from 110-125 in Afghanistan on the flight line.

Moab Ventilator - Great Shoe -
I love these shoes. They are very comfortable in the desert environment. Thye are cut small - off by about 1/2 size, but other than that, they are great. I even bought a second pair, I liked the first so much. I like that they are very light also.

Great Walking Shoe -
My husband has a tough time finding a supportive walking shoe. This shoe has it all. It fits his high instep and gives his ankle good support without being too much. He tends to roll his foot over (due to Parkinson's Disease) and regular running or walking shoes don't support at the ankle. This one does.

I followed the advice of other reviewers and got a half size higher than my normal size... they fit perfectly. They are so comfortable and light that I think they're the best footwear I ever bought. Kudos to Zappos for a speedier than advertised delivery.

I love Merrells -
This is my second pair of Merrells and I would not buy any other kind, I can't believe I found a shoe company that fits perfectly, feels great, and looks good! I recommend Merrell's shoes any day I bought hiking boots and they are so light I feel like I'm wearing only socks yet they are still very protective!!

I have spent a lot of time looking for a shoe with this kind of all day comfort and so far it is living up to my expectations. I did get a half size larger than my normal shoe size as they seem to run a bit small. I will definitely buy this shoe again.

These shoes are well worth the dollar!!!
These shoes are all there said to be. They are very comfortable and have that pizzazz, yet are very durable. I'll be buying another pair soon.

Happy with this hiking boot.
Excellent boot for jungle or ridgeline hikes. Has good traction for slippery trails. Water drain easily after those streams you have to cross. Buy at least half a size bigger than your normal shoe size. They run short. Every weekend they get 7-14 miles on them over terrain you will not find anywhere else in the United States and I'm satisfied with their performance so far.

The boots are great, very comfortable to walk in. Had to go a size bigger than usual and they are tight in the toe area, but they look great and keep my feet from getting too hot!

I usually get my orders the next day, and the longest it's taken has only been two days, and I think that's just awesome!
