They fit better than expected. They're light weight, very comfortable and look very good with boot cut jeans. Most excellent. I will be ordering more!!

My son loves these shoes! He goes to a boarding school with a dress code and he has to wear closed toe shoes with socks. He loves the olive/orange color (orange is a school color). They are very comfortable, and keep his feet warm and dry as he walks to class. We will buy more Merrells in the future from Zappos!

The Merrell Waterpro Maipo is a great shoe for the water. I just hiked the Narrows in Zion Utah and the shoe was supportive, comfortable, and had great traction. If you are ordering the shoe online, I would order the shoe a half or a full size smaller than what you normally wear. I had two returns before I got the size right, a full size smaller than another pair of Merrell hiking shoes I purchased last year.

Flimsy -
It is a beautiful shoe, but very flimsy. The gray is mesh. They are lightweight, but not for everyday use and especially not for winter. Don't know if the water would really be appropriate because of the sole. Had a pair of Merrell sandals that I romped around Belize and Guatemala with in and out the ocean and mountains, but the sand is trapped in the sole and we all know how sand smells… but still a nice shoe without the frills.
Other shoes recommended by reviewer: Any Merrell shoe is worth the money.

Comfy, but no real support - These are very light. You can't tell by looking but the overall material is a mess like pattern. So air flows easily, but so does dew from grass...getting socks damp. In addition to being light, they also don't offer much support to the overall foot. I barely notice they are on, a good and bad feature. Overall, I want more feel to my footwear. Others mentioned the squeak. Yes, I have it too. While walking around in the house I didn't notice them, then after walking outside for about 5 minutes the sound appeared. It's been a few days now and the sound is still there. I hope it goes away.

Great shoe, order half a size down - These shoes are great! Recently wore them on a trip to Hawaii and they performed great. Nice hiking shoe, comfortable, very light, dries fast, cool. It’s real easy to put them on and take them off. The Merrell boots seem true to size, but these shoes feel bigger, probably because of the lack of internal padding. If you’re a 10.5 in New Balance, order 10.0 in these or even 9.5.

When searching for some new work shoes I had entered "waterproof" as one of the parameters because I wanted to keep my feet dry. I install rain gutters and I'm always walking around on wet lawns and through mud at new construction sites. Anyhow, when the shoes arrived I realized that much of the shoe's construction was a type of mesh that lets water right through. This being said, I decided to keep them because they are well made, lightweight and keep my feet very cool on hot days. I'll just buy some actual waterproof shoes for the wet season.

Probably the most comfortable shoe of this type that I have ever worn---good traction, very lightweight, and cool-- the only con—squeaks.

Very comfortable shoe. Didn't even have to break them in. Love the design of this shoe. They are very light, it's almost like wearing a sock with soles. Not a great deal of cushioning though. Best part was the service I got. Zappos upgraded my delivery from standard to priority at no extra charge. Thanks Zappos.

Love and hate - This is not a "bad" review because I do like the shoes. But there are a few things that make me regret getting them. The Good: Great breathability and draining. You can wear them with socks without the dorky socks sandals look. Great styling, can wear hiking or at the office. That's what I like the most about these, you can wear them everyday with almost anything, doing almost anything. Pull them off after 12 hours and my feet aren't that sweaty or stinky...impressive for my nasty feet. The Bad: The nylon liner was giving me hot-spots without sock. But you can tighten the shoes with the webbing to minimize this. Also, after trying running in them, I'm sticking to my real running shoes. There isn't that much support or padding, but would be OK for nasty trail running, not good for path or concrete. The breathability will cost you in dry sand. You'll have to take them off after walking on the beach to pour out a cup of sand. The ugly:
Squeaking!!! My left shoe won't stop squeaking. It is so loud that it ends up being a conversation topic with most anyone walking next to me. If this wasn't bad, I wouldn't have bothered to write this review.
The crisscross webbing is starting to fray after a month. I must have scraped it against a rock right where the plastic ring below the pull adjustment is. It sticks out and is in a vulnerable spot. It's not broken yet, but it looks like it won't be long. Maybe I got a squeaky pair and my strap won't break. Everything else is no big deal if you're OK with that. It might be worth a buy if you get them from Zappos, with their return policy. Good luck.

Great shoe! Can’t go wrong with Merrell's, third pair I own. Comfy and fit great. Dry fast and don’t stink! I keep them in my Jeep in case I ever encounter something that needs an outdoor shoe and I couldn’t ask for a better one!

Bought for use on boat -
I bought these shoes with the intention to use them while boating on the Great Lakes. I wanted something that could get wet, provide good traction, and was non-marking for boat surfaces. So far they have been fine in all the needed areas. I do believe that traditional boat shoes provide better overall traction. I am on my second pair. My first pair had to be returned after two usages because of stitches coming out. A nice casual alternative to boat shoes.

Most comfortable shoe ever -
I'm EXTREMELY picky about my shoes and after trying on about 30 pair I settled on these. They're designed as a shoe for water sports, but I wanted a lightweight shoe for everyday use. The mesh upper makes them exceptionally breathable. Honestly, it's like you're just wearing a sock.

Boy, do I love these shoes! So much that I just bought another pair to keep for later use. My family just went to several locations in the Caribbean and Central America. I wore these shoes snorkeling in Honduras and Cozumel. Wore them to Sting Ray City in the Cayman Islands, and wore them on a three mile jungle hike through the rain forest in Belize and then cave tubing. The Waterpro Ultras have held up perfectly. I wore them at times with socks and at times without. They are extremely comfortable and light. No break-in required and no blisters or any sore spots at all. They can be a walking shoe, hiking shoe, running shoe, and water shoe. They’re so light and comfy, I wear them pretty much every day now. Excellent purchase.

These shoes are so great it is all my husband wears. So great for those people who are on their feet 24/7, they have great air flow to and anti odor control to prevent odor. My husband wears these year round.

Great Athletic Shoe!
This is a great shoe. I ordered 1 size greater than I usually wear, but YOU DO NOT NEED TO DO THIS. It runs slightly bigger and will fit well. Initially some "scratching" at the arch, but wore in very well. Looks great! And Zappos has a great customer service. I've ordered several times and orders always come in faster than expected!

A good follow up to the previous Waterpro -
... but still below the bar set by the original Pulse. I like these and will get another pair, they worked well in the jungles of Costa Rica and breathe well. A bit fatiguing for all-day, otherwise excellent.

The shoes are almost one size bigger, and there is no real arch support. From the heel area ahead it continued like a slope. After 30 minutes at home I feel a pressure in the back of my feet. I am a big Merrell fan, but it did not work this time. My wife purchased the female edition and is very happy
