My husband has a very thick foot – it looks like Fred Flintstone's. The shoe worked over his wide instep because the straps are adjustable and are constructed so that it doesn't expose all of the velcro, when it is maxed to stretch over a wide foot. It looks much better than other sandals. He says they are very comfy. He hasn't had to work them in nor has he suffered rubbing spots as he has with other new sandals.
