Really worth the money - Armed with this gadget, there is no more driving around streets and roads to count miles. Very accurate and works darn well in wooded areas too...

Forerunner 305 - Really enjoy working out with the Forerunner. I have set up workouts with target heart rate zones. Helps me work out and keep on track. Computer program helps track and lets you see distance, time, HR, pace, just a wealth of info. It is stored on your computer when downloaded and also a good quantity is stored on the device itself.

Mike's Garmin 305 review - Overall I'm very pleased. On the positive side, I'd give high marks to the functionality of the unit from both a GPS measurement perspective as well as a HR point of view. I'd also give high marks for the user interface & controls. I'm not a big manual reader, but have found it to be quite intuitive. I would only give the looks and ergonomics of the watch a so-so rating. It's neither ugly nor uncomfortable, but it's definitely the sort of device that you take off as soon as you finish working out and I don't know that you'd ever forget that it's on. I'd also rate the screen layout as only so-so. I don't know that this is avoidable given all the information it can provide. Having used the Polar products for 10+ years, I'm surprised by how small the HR feature seems to be, though I can manipulate the presentation. With speed, distance, HR & time simultaneously displayed, the screen becomes quite cramped, albeit readable. I do NOT have buyer's remorse and would definitely recommend this to anyone looking to add the distance/speed dimension to a pure heart rate monitor.

Exceeded Expectations - This unit has replaced all other training tools. I don't have to map routes anymore, and it hasn't lost reception in the woods (in summer!). It combines my heart rate monitor, stopwatch and mileage/workout log all into one. But even more than that, little unexpected add-ons provide pleasant surprises. You can program a "workout partner" to keep your workout on track in real-time, or race against a past performance on the same track. One of the biggest surprises was how great the navigation system is. Way out in the country, I asked it to show me the way back to where I started and it knew all the roads to follow.
